It was almost like something from a cartoon. The character who thinks he's charming actually charms a woman, and then has no clue what to do. Oz's face shifted from flirtacious to complete shock in a matter of seconds. What had just happened? Had Oz somehow projected his innermost fantasies into Sayuri's head, and she was reacting?
Not bloody likely!
Surely, it would be alright to kiss her...wouldn't it? It was all innocent, almost like teaching a friend how to kiss. Not that Oz ever kissed his mates to practise...nope...never. And whilst he did find her attractive, his interests in her were physical at the moment, since he had yet to spend enough time with her. Soul mates don't appear overnight. So yes, it was perfectly fine to kiss her, and especially since she asked.
Now, to the kiss. If she had truly never kissed a man properly before, Oz would be setting an example for the male species. So he better make it a damn good kiss or he'd put Sayuri off men for life! He hesitated a little first, looking away from her briefly, trying to psyche himself up and recall his 'method.'
Feeling sort of confident, he faced her once more and gently leaned in, pressing his lips to her in a tender kiss. Not too forceful, not too sloppy, and no tongue of course!
Just a sweet kiss.
After a few moments, he withdrew softly, a heady blush forming on his cheeks.

Sayuri had lowered her eyes after her request, unable to look at him, nerves and blushes evident on her face. It seemed like he took a while to decide, did he not want to kiss her? She sensed him moving and tilted her head, letting her gaze wander up to his face - and then he kissed her.
Her eyes rounded for a moment and then slid shut as his mouth moved against hers. She tried to mimic what he was doing, moving her lips, kissing him! The taste was weird, salty, warm. Her eyes stayed shut when Oz broke the kiss, only opening when she brought her fingers up and touched her mouth.
'Oh..' she mumbled, feeling warm. It had been nice. Really nice.

"Well...ummm...thats how I kiss, some others...might kiss a different way," he stammered, feeling rather quite sheepish all of a sudden.
Oz rubbed the back of his neck, partly from nervousness and a need to keep his hands busy, and partly because it still ached like hell. Well, this was an awkward moment. What do you do next? He only hoped she wouldn't ask him to show her what other things were like.
"So...er...why did the other guy get mad when you kissed him?"

'I liked it.' Sayuri whispered, then giggled. She liked that he was looking as embarrassed as she had felt - it was sweet. Her face fell when he asked that though.
'I don't know. I said I wanted to like him, and know him better and he shout at me.'
She rested her hands on his chest.
'Do men do that to woman who like them?'
Maybe it was normal behaviour - but she didnt want to believe that.

He was so tempted to wrap his arms about her then, almost as if it was an automatic response to her closeness. But feeling his large hands on her bottom might not have been appreciated at this moment, where she was clearly concerned about the actions of another man. Still, it was VERY tempting...
Phew! At least she didn't recoil in horror...
Relief just flooded his face. Thank god he didn't make a mess of things. His demeanour shifted from shy boy back to cheeky chappy, his body loosening and his shoulders sinking from their stiff position before.
"Hmm...well...I've known some guys do that, yes, but its not really normal," he said, wondering whether his words be a reassurance or a greater worry.

That wasnt much of a help. What she needed to know was whether Sabin had just been in a bad mood. Or if he simply was as nasty as he had told her he was and that she should get her affection from elsewhere.
A woozy feeling swept over her. And then went again. She blinked then poked him gently.
'A Maiko practice every day so that she dance and play well. I must practice kissing. Then I be best at that too.' she tugged on his top, trying to pull him to her.
'Oz-san help me?'

BUGGER!
He wasn't about to pull away from the prospect of kissing Sayuri some more. But he couldn't escape the odd feeling he had in the pit of his stomach. Was this alright? She said herself it was just practice, and Oz did have friends who did pretty much the same thing. But what about this other guy? How would he see these 'lessons?' Not that Oz was afraid of a showdown, but he didn't want to be making enemies on only his second day here.
Oz let himself be pulled further in towards Sayuri, his lips almost touching hers once more. Did she want to take the lead this time?

Sayuri nuzzled the tip of her little nose against Oz's slightly squashed one and kissed him again, making the first and bold move. The warm press of lips was again very pleasing. But as she was enjoying herself she felt a flurry of pains over her body that made her gasp.
She fell back away from Oz, collapsing on the floor at his feet.
'No..' she moaned, as she lay on the sand, twitching.
'Not again.'

"WAH! What did I do!?" he yelped, thinking maybe he'd inadvertantly stepped on her foot or bitte her lip or somesuch other thing.
"Sayuri? Whats wrong?" he knelt down beside her, trying to grasp a firm hold of her delicate form. Was she having a seisure? Maybe he should try to get her back to the village, find one of the doctors.

As she rolled on the sand, hands scoring lines into the beach, her robe loosened, her legs were exposed. The scales joined from those dotted on her, forming and flowing in a pattern from her hips, down along and met up with the small ones on her feet.
Sayuri had managed to push herself upright during this time, waving Oz away in her panic, whimpering, watching the scales, her legs shimmering now as the sun caught the scales surface. Just as she thought it was over, that was it, her breath caught in her throat as her feet stretched before her eyes. Tears welled as her toes seemed to thin away, becoming virtually nothing as the webbing stretched, her feet becoming nothing less but flippers.
She was pushed over, rolled as her tail got a growth spurt, whipping out, thickening and lengthening. Sayuri moaned, spitting out sand and pushed herself up. Then coughed hard, crying out in pain and her hands whipped up, hovering either side of her neck, shaking as her neck gills formed. She took deep breaths, then almost hyperventilated as the air rushed in through her neck.
'What happen! What happen!' she shrieked, tears streaking down her face.
'Sabin..' she said his name with a bitterness, then looked at Oz, fright etched on her face.
'Please..help.'

Under other circumstances, seeing Sayuri's legs would have been drool-worthy for the hot-blooded male. But somehow, seeing vast numbers of pearlescent blue scales descend from her hips wasn't quite so ******** hell!"
Oz recoiled in a mixture of horror and sheer bafflement. What was happening to her?! She was trying to shoo him away, but he just couldn't leave her. A sort of morbid curiosity washed over him, his eyes locking on her poor, tortured form as she writhed around in terror. There was very little sound to her transformations, but her whimpers and cries cut deeper and harder than the sounds of bone-cracking ever would.
He couldn't answer her. He didn't even know! Before he allowed himself to dwell on what he'd just seen, he scooped her up into his arms like before, treating her like a China doll that could break any second.
He practically sprinted back to the village.

What had felt like an age was literally only moments, the transformation swift as it was painful. She was only barely aware that Oz had picked her up, only gradually coming out of her shock as he stampeded back from the beach, through the small area of Jungle and entered the Village again.
'Slow..' she managed, tugging on his shirt. The way he held her and the jarring motion as he ran was crushing and hurting her tail. She needed a moment to free it, and many moments to try and deal with all that had happened.

For the first time in ages since he had to quit rugby, he summoned a vast amount of determination and speed. Sayuri's request went practically un-noticed, but Oz was coming to a natural stop now anyway.
If she needed a doctor, he'd bloody well buzz for one!
Maybe it was a good thing he'd accidentally left his duplex door open. He charged in and buzzed '0' on the numpad. Meanwhile, he still cradled Sayuri in his arms, his mind struggling with what now could be classed as a third lower limb - her tail. He knew it was there when it shouldn't be. Not unless Sayuri was secretly a sea monster. He tried to shuffle his hands about, desperately trying not to touch places he shouldn't be doing.
Ewww! Ewww! The...gill things...are moving!
Oz cringed, physically turning his head away from her. At this point, his heart probably faster than hers, his nerves were probably just as shaky, and his mind was probably just as tormented.
~BUZZ~ "You have reached the Feral Labs reception." ~BUZZ~
"Yeah, I really need some help over here! Somebody has...grown things, scales! Something's not right, she really needs to see a doctor!" Oz bellowed into the intercom, as if it would get there any faster.
~BUZZ~ "Subject name please." ~BUZZ~
"What? Subject?" he was flustered now. "Err....Sayuri!"
Then a moments silence.
~BUZZ~ "The doctor's are aware of her condition and her vital signs do not reveal any complications. If she seeks emergency attention, take her to the medical centre in the town centre of the village." ~BUZZ-CRACKLE~
Oz was dumb-struck.
How could they KNOW about this!? This was like...a freaking mutation from a horror film! She made it sound like it was normal for this to be happening!

Sayuri had gone limp in Oz's arms, passing out for a little while. The only sign of movement was the slow opening and closing of the gills, moving in a wave motion from top slit to bottom. She only came to after his conversation over the intercom had finished, head raising and looking around her.
'Where are we?' she asked finally, not recognising her surroundings.

Oz was about as dazed as Sayuri was. For her to finally come to and see the big oaf just staring at the intercom in the wall might ba casue for concern.
It took a while for Sayuri's words to penetrate his thoughts, which currently consisted of angry expletives about the lack of care from the doctors, questions about why said doctors had that view, and more disturbing thoughts about what had happened to Sayuri.
"Wha...what? Oh...my duplex," he answered, in a trance-like state.
What could he do now? He had no answers, no help. Nothing. He just stood there, that visade of masculinity and strength far away from the deep-breathing and frankly terrified man that stood in that doorway.
Sayuri looked shattered. And who would blame her. Changing her DNA makeup, whilst growing a big tail an losing her feet were bound to knock anyone out. In a startled silence, Oz gently laid Sayuri down on his bed, then took several steps back to weigh up the situation.
