Sid shook his head. "Didn't think to bring any."
Hell, he wasn't thinking much about anything when he first left the tent. He longed for that state of mind again. He glanced around, but as it was he wasn't sure if they were even going in the right direction to get back to the village. He'd never been out in the jungle at night before, mostly because he had more sense than that.
"Not sure which is closer... The village or the lake, I mean."

"Guess I'll be in the same boat before long... Or lake..." Sid trailed off into moody silence.
Gills. Breathing water. Lot of s**t to look forward to there. He shook his head again as if trying to physically shake the thought.
"We could cut that way, if you want."
They were probably lost no matter which way they went.

The octopus swallowed, finally stopping his chair as he panted further, "Listen, brother... I really need some water here... I cannae'... breath..." Surely there was something nearby... at least a stream?

"What?" Sid stopped. "Oh, s**t."
He didn't know why he was looking around again when he had know idea where they were.
"We might be near the river... Wait, is there more than one...? ********, I don't know."

"There were..." Sid said. He hated to admit that detouring off it was likely a bad idea. Nothing left but to act like he had some clue where they were. "I think the river might be nearby... over this way." He started walking the way he'd pointed.
He might be right. He might get lucky.

It'd be a terrible thing to be proven wrong at that time, but dumb luck prevailed and before long the sound of rushing water was heard.
"See?" Sid said, as if he'd known it all along.
It still didn't explain where exactly they were.

Billy kept getting his chair stuck on a large rock or knot of underbrush, and cursed as he was delayed being so close to the water. He reached up to remove the hot wig from his head, dropping it beside his chair.

Sid wandered too far ahead before he realized Billy was lagging behind and stopped. His tail, dim as it was, was something of a beacon in the darkness at least. He just wished he could figure out how to turn to damn thing off.

Billy veered towards the water, though, stopping his chair not too far away from the riverbank befor he slipped down off of it to flop onto his belly, ready to crawl towards the water's edge.
