No More Periods?
It should be noted that no clinical studies have been performed studying the long-term effects of Anya. Additionally, some of the studies performed on the pill were undertaken by the manufacturer, presenting the possiblity of biased results. It is not known how Anya may affect fertility or reproductive health when taken for a number of years. One concern for women is that suppression of menstruation for such a long period may result in an irreversible loss of bone density, a documented side-effect of depo-provera – another hormonal contraceptive that suppresses menstruation for months at a time.

I'll stick to having periods, thnx sweatdrop

Is this a form of birth control aswell, or just a menstruation surpresser?

Also, my mother spoke to a doctor at her college and he said it's actually healthier for a woman to not menstruate. I can't remember why, but i'll make sure to ask her again and let you all know if you want.

I'm a virgin, but I hate my period with a passion, so...i'd gladly take this Anya((Which, I agree, is such a cute name xD))

I wouldn't personally take it. If I skip my period too often I get break-through bleeding and that's really annoying. Also, despite all my bitching when I get my period while on the pill, I prefer it that way, otherwise it's really heavy when I finally have one, it justs feels a bit more natural to have one.

I would expect break-through bleeding with a year long pill. It happens with the normal pill and I've heard from a few people that you can get break-through bleeding with the implant one. All that lining has to go somewhere eventually.

That's what I was thinking. It must just build up all through the year. It would have to come out sooner or later...How gross. I bet it comes out all clotted and stuff. gonk

Actually, I would think it would surpress the cycle altogether, meaning the uterus would not gather blood onto it's walls as it would normaly do...thus, no blood o_O I don't think.

That's what I was thinking . . .

It probably just stops you from releasing any eggs, so they wouldn't reach your *forgotten term*, wouldn't get fertilised, and wouldn't cause a period. I suppose it ould just mean you're frozen in limbo, menstrual-wise.

If it were just something like that, with no danger, I'd take it - but I'd rather have an implant or something. I'm sure I'd forget to take a pill every day sweatdrop

Actually, menstruation is a form of "self-cleaning" for the v****a, and it restores your pH balance, thus helping to prevent bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections.

Mind you, you don't HAVE to have your period EVERY month. Plus, you can suppress your period with any monophasic birth control.

It's not an actual period, really, it's bleeding caused by lack of hormones that your body is used to. I got it when I first started the Pill, too. >.< I'm going to skip a break for the first time... I'll have my week off next month, I need to be re-prescribed anyway.

Yeah, technically it's a "withdrawal bleed", but the bleeding does help keep things in balance.

As much as I hate my period, I'm not sure it is good to not have one at all...ever lol. The fairly recent release of Seasonale created quite a stir with only 3 or 4 periods a year and this one tops that with no periods-ever!

Just to play devil's advocate-the Depo injection makes MANY women not have periods and it seems to be fairly safe if you aren't too bothered by it. So I'm not quite sure what to think on that one...it would be interesting if we could dig up some medical research on these.

I just don't see how suppressing something that naturally happens to your body can be healthy at all, let alone healthier than the natural cycle your body provides...is that just me?? (I have a friend who's SEVERELY anemic and she takes things to suppress her period but it's dangerous for her to have one because she loses so much iron during her menstration...but other than that...?)

EDIT: 98% effective...or possibly 92% if not taken perfectly....I'm allergic to tattoo ink so I've already become a statistic with that, this might be too much of a chance for me...I'm lucky alright but sometimes not in a good way.

GIMMEGIMMEGIMME! Holy crap, I want that pill! I hate my periods, I hate PMS, I hate cramps! Honestly, I don't care if it's unnatural, I want it! But, sadly, my parents won't let me go on birth control because they side with the studies that claim that women with a family history of breast cancer are more likely to develop it later on if they take the Pill. They won't even listen to the Planned Parenthood website!

If I really wanted it I'm sure I could get it. I'm with Freedom Fire. I despise my periods, hate PMS, hate cramps (sometimes they get so severe im incapacitated for several days / other times it doesnt affect me at all ) stressed

But I have issues with pills. I am incapable of taking a pill every day at the same time. I had an argument with the gynocologist about it but even after i capulated i wasnt capable of taking it (i even set an alarm to remind me every day but that only works if you remember to keep the alarm with you) so I'm not sure how good this would be for me. sweatdrop
