I've got oodles more (and they're older ones, too). It is a good idea. I've only ever donated thrice, though. The rest is good investment. Well, they're a symbol of real money, plus they're only available for a limited time. Also, they tend to be cooler than the regular items alone. In addition, there are multiple ways to equip each one.
I still have all the items for my Seeker/Hunter Robo-Suit, my Falcon/Hawk Current-Suit, and my Aroori/Yukidaruma Old-Suit.
