((can we jump back to the great hall))
Rikkel sat at the Ravenclaw table with a satisfied grin. She was home. She had spent the lonely summer holidays with her cousins, under the vow that she would not tell them anything about her.... condition. Her parents still refused to talk to her. For a year she hadn't seen them and didn't know about the summer arrangment until her aunt had been at the station to get her.
She sat with a book open in front of her, catching up with the summer homework she'd hardly been allowed to do then. She didn't realize the great hall was emptying until a prefect shouted "Hunt, move off to bed or you can sleep here tonight."

Karen noticed her bag was missing before she realised she had left it in the great hall. She sighed and got out of bed, startling the other girls. She left.
She snuck through the castle past crowds of students until she made it to the great hall.

Lisha, now seemingly shy with the other girls, heard Karen walk down the hall past her room. Curiosity got the best of her and she followed the other girl to the Great Hall, almost getting lost a time or two.

Ellen sat on her trunk in a room next to the great hall, swinging ing her feet. Another year, another transfer. Big whoop. And to make things fair, the teacher who talked to her told her to stay there until everyone else was gone to their dorms. She didn't see the big deal. What's wrong with presenting their first transfer student from the US anyway? Just because she got into fights all the time was no reason to keep her hidden until the last moment. Ellen got bored of just sitting there. She turned and layed on her trunk, looking at the plain old ceiling. Weren't the celings supposed to be enchanted? That's what Hogwarts a history said at least. And it's supposed to be the best school in all of England, and the oldest. A hundred times better than Salem's witches accademy. So they said. Just another school... The door creeped open and a teacher came in with a beaten up old hat. Ellen jumped to attention, military style--including the salute. The woman smiled reassuringly. "That's quite alright Miss Johnson. You don't have to be quite so formal." Ellen nodded and relaxed her posture. She eyed the hat wearingly. "Now, we have to do the sorting. Since you were not a first year, you have to be sorted seperately. Put on the sorting hat." Ellen blinked. That was it? Put on a hat? What did it do? Turn colors depending on her ablilites? She shrugged, but still wasn't sure. She grabbed the hat and put it on her head quickly. Whatever. After a moment, she heard the hat talk. Ellen's eyes grew wide and was about to fling the thing off her head when it shouted "HUFFLEPUFF!!" She still took it off far too quickly to be polite, but Ellen knew from experiance that talking items you didn't make were rarely ever good. "Well now, since that's settled..." The lady teacher looked upo and down her. "This way." The teacher turned and lead Ellen out the door with her bag and trunk.

Karen heard somebody behind her. She turned around with a start.
"Lisha!" she whispered furiously. "What are you doing out of bed?"

Rikkel headed out of the Hall with her nose planted in the book. As she could not see where she was going she walked right into someone. "Oof" was the sound she made as she hit the floor. Looking up she saw two Gryffindors.

Karen fell too, catching herself with her hands. Furious, she stood and turned toward the girl that had run into her. "Watch where you're going," she snapped.

Rikkel jumped to her feet, glaring at the older girl. She sized her up. Only a couple inches taller, Rikkel didn't see her as much of a threat. "Why are you down here? And don't boss me around like a first year."

Karen pushed past her without answering. She entered the great hall, walked to the Gryffindor table, and snatched up her bag.

Rikkel picked up her books started to walk out of the Hall. "Are you sure you shouldn't be in Slytherin? You act like one." She walked smugly toward Ravenclaw Tower.

Karen decided she would put Rikkel in her place. She approached her.
"What year are you in, Ravenclaw," Karen spat.
((I agree!))

((hehehe bring it))
Rikkel wasn't sure if she wanted to answer. But she was up for a fight. "Second Year. But I help sixth years with their homework last year." It was true, she had given some sixth years tips on how to study, once.

((muahahaha))
Karen laughed. "Like that has anything to do with anything," she scoffed. "Little second year prowling the corridors like she owns the place."
