The coyote laughed, most times of the year calling him cute would have resulted in the perpatrator receiving an angry rant, but being as it was halloween and the person calling him cute was Colche, he could care less. "Very pretty dress you have there. You look like royalty, a princess?" he asked.

And yes he did remember last Halloween, it felt as if it was only yesterday. He'd been almost human then he thought with the briefest twinge of sadness. But he couldn't dwell on it, it was a new year, a new start. He nodded to Colche "Yep, no doubt with all the new and old people we'll have a great time here."

He paused to give the unfamiliar Oz a wave of his paw - manners were to be remembered tonight he figured. All in all he just wished he wasn't all of a few feet high when everyone else was on two legs.

Tristan didn't know what to think as he approached the location of the party. He didn't know what kind of 'people' would be there. He wasn't even going to come. He was actually quite embarassed about the changes his body went through. At first he was going to go for a costume that would cover his entire body but in the end, he decided he would appear confidant, even if he was not. He went for an outfit that would only show off his body. So he was a Beast Master cosplay. It was simple but effective.

He was hoping that psychotic doctor would be around so he could tear out his heart with his bare hands. Okay, maybe that was only possible in movies, but it was what Tristan wanted to do.

When he reached the area he stopped to study those around. They were all in costumes and most... were animals. Well.. animalistic. Suddenly, he felt very self conscious and nervous. Did he really want to meet these people? Surely they were normal, like that Nita woman. Normal people that were just ******** up by a psychotic madman.

His new nose caught the scent of.. food. Not just food, but possibly delicious food. It had been so long since he had eaten anything that was absolutely mouth watering scrumptous. With that thought in mind, he entered the area and made his way to the buffet table. First some meat, then few sandwiches and frozen grapes, a cookie and some punch. Of course, he couldn't resist pouring a generous sized portion of alcohol into his cup of punch.

He turned and made his way to an empty table and began to eat, keeping his eyes on those around him.

Colche smiles happily watching as first the monky man then apparantly somone only slightly fizzy and wearing barely more than she usually does potter past. She smiles gently at them both promising to make some new friends this evening and hopeing not to scare anyone. New unfuzzy people could be so rude!

Grinning broadly when Pyroth mentioned her gwon she nods vigerously. "Uh huh, Princess for the day!" she giggles huggling Pyroth once more as she gets to her foot paws stretching and flickering her long black spotted tail. Dance Pyroth?" she beams holding out her arms, hoping the Cayote man would at least dance with her a little.

Pyroth raised a brow as Tristan walked past, trying sincerely not to look like he was too interested in the skimpy outfit. He didn't say anything though, aware that not everyone wanted to be addressed by a talking coyote. Instead he returned his attention to Colche. Dance? He laughed at the sheer cringeworthyness of attempting to.

But still, he'd come here to have a laugh and forget about whatever troubles he normally had. Besides, it'd feel good to be upright again, even if it was only for one dance.

"Oh alright." he said with an exasperated smile "You'll need to give me a hand though." and with that he hopped onto his hind legs, tottering a bit on the spot, daintily holding out a paw that Colche could take to help steady him, his red cape actually sitting properly on his back when he did so.

Colche grins and giggles "Yay" she puurrs happily taking Pyroths forelegs to help steady him. Knowing full well that it was a bit of a struggle for Pyroth to be on two legs these days colche took him out slowly away fromt he tables before starting to turn in time to the music.

Her gown, clearly specially made for her, seemed to manage to keep out from under her dainty foot paws no matter how she moved and still managed to give that soft swooshing noise of a clasic ball gown. The sound of silk, satin and lace swooshing on the tarpaulin with her every step.

She was thorughly enjoying this little dance infact, happy to have her doggy friend up and playing with her. She adored Pyroth, she had for a very long time, and she was glad he was happy, he looked happy any ways.

"Pyroth good dancer!" she beams, "I likes halloweens!"

Pyroth himself didn't half mind being the right height for a change, it almost made you giddy being at this perspective again, able to see the tables and at eye-level with the others in the room. He grinned, concentrating on his hind legs and tail, making sure not to step on Colche's pristine dress or lose his footing, simply letting himself get swept along with the dance.

He was actually as content as he looked, things on the island weren't /that/ bad now that he'd found his center and didn't let things get him down.

He could only chuckle though "Pyroth's not danced in ages." the silly little hops and movements he had to do to stay upright didn't actually irritate or frustrate him as much as they normally would have done, Colche's childish enthusiasm negated pride in him a lot of the time and let him relax.

"Colche is far better at it."

The little cheetah girl grinned happily leaning forwards and planting a kitty kiss on the end of his nose "Thankyou" she smiles brightly her sweet baby blue eyes radiating with pure unbridled happiness. She couldn't be happier. A year ago she had hidden under the tables, away from the small crowd, a year ago she had been too frightened to even question what dancing was. Nowhere she stood on the dance floor with a friend, a brother almost, somone she trusted and adored, somone whom had looked after her in the bad times. A year ago she didn't have these wonderful things and she couldn't help but puurr, a little giggle escaping her lips as she counted her blessings.

"I loves home" she smiled as the song they had been dancing to rolled to an end and another started, she smiled holding Pyrioth up still and looking in to those eyes she could remember even behind the doggish muzzle.

"you wants some cakes or meats?" she tilts her head softly that gentle childish smile spreading accross her own much more stubby muzzle.

Pyroth grinned himself, it really was like home here. Sure, it was a home where they turned you into unholy abominations or sins against nature, but not all homes were perfect. "It's not the /worst/ place in the world to be really. To be honest I've been worse off." Granted those times were when he thought he would die. Still, he wouldn't be without Bobby, Colche and the other friends he'd made here. After all nothing brought people closer than hardship.

His gaze travelled over to the meat-covered table. "Meat actually sounds pretty good. I can't put things on plates though."

Colche grins "Sokies I'll gets for you!" she nods happily letting Pyroth back down to the ground and kissing the top of his head with one of those kitty kisses, which was basically a touch of her nose on the head. "Thankyou for dancing Pyroth" she puurrs heading over to the food tables to get them both some food. She was ready for a nice tuna sandwich herself and had spotted the 'finger' sandwiches when she came in. Her nose told her there was definately tuna amongst them but she'd get Pyroth some meat first.

Turning to her doggish companion she tilted her head softly "what like Pyroth?"

Dropping to all fours again the coyote eyed the tables thoughtfully. A lot of it smelled and had looked fantastic and he couldn't pick right off the bat. "Hmmm, I'm going to take a look around at what there is? I'll come back if I find something nice."

And giving her a wag of his tail he trotted off in the direction of the tables.

Nodding gently to Pyroth, Colche loaded her plate up and padded off to a table where she placed down her plate before sitting in a very princessly like manner. Smiling to herself she quietly watches the room for others she knows while quietly nibbling on a tuna finger sandwich.

Richard hadn't been to a halloween party in well... at least twenty years, he thought the whole holiday was rather silly and commericalized beyond reckonition. However the party was a great chance to meet more islanders and blow off some steam.

For a costume he had dredged up his ancient fraterity partying skills and fashioned himself a passible Toga. Some fishing line and some vines made for laurels and leather sandles he had brought with him rounded out the costume.

For tentacle control he had been inspired. Caesar needed soliders! He spend about an hour cutting and glueing paper to two socks, creating two sock puppet legionares. He stuffed them with polyfill and forced the clubs of his tentacles into them. It wasn't that comfortable but they would reduce the impact of the tentacles to more "friendly" levels.

While he was at it he made two more sock puppets for his little arms. They'd be senators.

He exited his duplex and followed the sound of the music to a large black tent. Seeing there were already some people around he smiled and waved at anyone he had met before. Then he made a beeline for the food.

Noise. Movement. All these things pointed to 'people', and as Caitlin stalked her way around the collection of bizarre houses she could see various shapes moving towards the tents at the back. Dr Duvert had mentioned Hallowe'en, just as the letter had, and it was soon, wasn't it? She'd been at sea for way too long.

Finding clean clothes had been a bonus, but there wasn't any way she was going in 'costume'. Whoever these staff and subjects were, they'd have to put up with her looking normal, thankyou very much.

She tried to avoid the unconscious stance that would mark her out as military to any of those used to such things. Perhaps it would be better if she pretended to fit in, someone's visiting cousin maybe? 'I was shipwrecked and told I wasn't allowed to leave' probably wasn't too plausible, to be honest.

Taking a deep breath, the woman tucked her hair irritably behind her ears again, and started towards the tent. Hesitating in the entrance, she looked around at the few people that were there. Good grief, talk about mixing fancy dress. I mean, make up your mind, be an animal or a cartoon character, not both at once....

Some of those costumes were very good. She swallowed convulsively as she noticed an avuncular looking Roman who also happened to sport a bizarre number of (moving) appendages. A memory of the horribly mutated man she'd seen on the beach sprung into her head, and she stared harder around the inside of the tent, trying to block out the music and concentrate on just exactly what the hell was going on....

Richard was busily piling this plate with an uncountable number of halloween pasteries, alongside the large medium rare steak he had selected when he felt a presence behind him. His "Soldiers" immediately lowered themselves into a striking position but he held them in check. He was getting better.

Behind him he saw a young woman without a costume on. Add that to fact she looked bewildered and distressed. It added up to a possible bad situation. if she had just arrived then she could make a scene, best get it out of the way now and explain what's going on.

Richard and his plate of food moved to intercept Caitlin, a friendly smile on his face.

"Hello there!"

Oz immediately found one advantage of this furry jumpsuit - no elasticated waistband. And it hid his less than attractive figure. So, he could pig out on food as much as he liked. And he did. He sampled practically everything at the dessert table, leaving nothing untouched or uneaten.

Feeling comfortably full, for now at least, he wandered over to the drinks and took the first non-alocoholic liquid his hands could grasp. He'd watched with a sweet smile as Colche danced with Pyroth, reminding him of the days when he used to play and practice dancing with his dog, Winston. Oz smiled into his cup. He hadn't completely forgotten about his family, it just shamed him to do so. But soon, one day soon, he'll go back. Clean and sober and just how he used to be.

He nearly choked as Tristan entered. What a costume! It took all his willpower to prevent himself from laughing out loud and even had to look away to grin and smile. Half-dressed people were amazingly amusing to Oz. Richard's costume was a little less funny, and he was just glad the toga covered up most of the old man's body. Ick. Old man flesh.

Oz shuddered. He wasn't exactly a teenager anymore, but the thought of old people made his skin crawl all over. All the while, he tried to think what some of these people were here for. He'd assumed a rehab clinic would be just for alcoholics and drug addicts, but then he remembered reading about them catering to some lesser known problems too.

He refilled his little plastic cup and was just supping it when Caitlin entered, albeit rather stealthily. In fact, it was pure luck that Oz had seen her at all. And she wasn't in costume.

Party pooper.
