I'll usually listen to just about anything, but depending on what part of the story I'm writing I'll have one of these on:
My Chemical Romance Alkaline Trio Tool Green Day Random '80s rock Random J-rock They Might Be Giants Gaelic Storm Flogging Molly Fullmetal Alchemist soundtrack R.O.D. the TV soundtrack Asian Kung-Fu Generation ...and a lot of stuff that's so completely random I can't even explain it.

Besides the fact that I have music on like 24/7?
Well when I have to write like a slower, sweeter, or deeper part I listen to hard rock. Some metal.
When I have to write a battle scene or a (often occuring) spat between Nina and, well, everybody else. I listen to violin concertos.
I think I'm crazy.

It varies for me but with this bit of writing in particular it's a lot of She Wants Revenge, Anna Tsuchiya, some Jpop, Muse, Placebo... it's a lot of sexy type music really.

Generally soundtrack music, as the songs are there to capture specific moods, which is why I listen to music while I write to begin with. A few notable stuff includes:
-Lord of the Rings Soundtrack(s) -Harry Potter (GoF) -Narnia Soundtrack -Gattaca Soundtrack (The Morrow) -Various Orchestra/Classical Music
Other times I crank out the rock and the like, again which song/artist depends on the mood I need to get in.
Hanz Zimmerman is typically a good choice, though I've found his Da Vinci stuff isn't doing so good for my writing.

I had great success over the weekend by putting the Animatrix soundtrack on shuffle. Basically, I'm finding as I go along that anything I would consider relaxing (Yes, the Animatrix soundtrack relaxes me) helps me write. If it makes me want to dance or sing along, then it's bad because it distracts me.

Writing music is a LOT different than my norma "chill out and whatever" music.
For writing, I generally like jazz, some classical arrangements, and video game/anime soundtracks. (And I'm not even really that keen on anime... some have great music, though. xd ) And Rosin Coven has been doing a LOT for me, even though they have vocals. Pretty vocals, though. They're this awesome darker lounge/jazz band who I cannot praise enough.

I can't concentrate on writing while I'm listening to music, unfortunately...
So, how many people have taken their NaNo emotional problems to the life issues forum?

I try not to listen to english music when I write, since most songs just make me want to draw something. XD;
For me though, I seem to write a lot when I'm listening to The Pillows. :3

I'm been finding my Japanese and Czech recordings of Les Miserables, Mexican and Korean cast recordings of Phantom of the Opera, and Polish recording of Tanz Der Vampire to be very useful.
