Sernin I'm sorry but old school Broadway should really be the '40's and the 50's. If you mean before 1980, may I humbly suggest before the great Broadway specatacular where the scenery was the show? Oh, Sweeney Todd is 1979. Yeah, I gotta say I agree as well. Anything pre-ALW. In that case, I'd have to say My Fair Lady or...does Oliver! count?

Oliver counts in my book! (I'm judging old school by my CDs in my "Broadway the American Musical" compilation album. Disks 1-3 have the beginning and Golden Age of Broadway, which I consider old school. Disk 4 has Cabaret and beyond, which I dub post-old school.

Oliver's from the 60's. Showboat is early 40's, I think, perhaps 30's. Old school really should be 1940-1965.
