This guy is the best bassist I have ever heard. he has a video where he plays one of bach's movements on a custom conklin 9 string.

I think that Les Claypool is the official best bassist in the world! smile in fact i heard that he auditioned for Metalica, and they said he was to good! xd in my opinion i think thats pretty good when you're turned down by a band like metalica for bieng to good. lol

i find drint to be incredibly over-rated, all his stuff is really easy.
Duff McKagen from Guns N' Roses
Geddy lee from Rush, is my main inspiration, he's incredible.

Flea is damn good bassist...I really love what he does. And especially his slap techniques.
Jean Baudin is amazing, couldn't imagine that 11 strings bass existed O.o I heard Vanishing and Frosty Acres, like the second very much. And what tapping...
I know Toshiya from deg and think he is cool even if he is not THAT good.. (love the intro of bottom of the death valley. simple bassline but simply love it ^.^) Kozi has a very melodic style...unusual but good.

My favorite bassist would be Tim Commerford from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. I'd say that the best would be a close match between Les Claypool, Flea, and Jaco Pastorius.
But yeah, Tim inspired me to start playing bass, Flea inspired me to keep playing. Les and Jaco are crazy good too.

lovecore i find drint to be incredibly over-rated, all his stuff is really easy. Agreed. Also, two of the greatest bassists ever, Victor Wooten of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and Les Claypool (that's right, Les ********' Claypool), are going to be playing at the Bonnaroo Music Festival this year! I'm getting to that show if it kills me.
