From my experience, its a very even fence. Though those are just my personal friends who tend to always strive away from the norm. I believe the statistics agree with your statement however.

The biggest reason I believe, would be that the female mind loves a long drawn out story. It is a partial patience problem, like someone mentioned but its really a mind set in a way. If any gender loves to sit down and read books, espically series of them they will probably strive towards RPG games. They want to get to know the characters, and watch them develop/level up.

Many guys I've known who are more into Shooter or Fighting style games, tend to simply want to turn on the game for an hour then be able to leave it at any time they want. I know I've spent over a day, one time, playing Kingdom Hearts for I was so sucked into the plot line I couldn't be moved.

Though I love FPS games as well. My skills in them however, are horrible. The gaming class I went into college at seemed to atleast respect that I tried and kept up with most of the experienced guys. Usually I feel its a good way to get out built up anger or agression. ^_^

RPGs have great stories! A lot of them revolve around love too. Girls like that sort of thing. Not to mention they guys are always anime type hotties! heart heart heart

i agree with most of you all. guys are more into the action stuff and don't really care to be caught looking at hot guys... i mean. haha u know wat i mean

As I stated earlier I love all types of games but RPG's are my favorite for many reasons.

1) You cant sit down and beat "most" RPG's in a hour to even four hours usually with the good RPG's it takes a good at LEAST 12 hours to beat the game if not more.

2) RPG plot lines are usually very strong and very in depth the story sucks you in completly.

3) Characters are usually very well defined and you grow to either love them or hate them.

I am someone who can beat a action type game extreamly quickly it doesnt make me not like them because honestly as far as action games go I love the resident evil series, Fatal Frame series, Silent Hill series so forth so on there are far to many games to list that I love.

I just think that while there are guys out there that play RPG's girls seem to play more of them because we like the things i listed above as the reasons my favorite type of game is RPG's.

Like every other person in this thread said; RPG's are more story driven, and FPS lean more to action. Plus, RPGs have (mostly) developped characters, interesting story-line and bishounen. RPGs can be compared to a good book actually. I think that's the reason girls like RPGs more then FPS, and that guys like FPS more then RPGs 3nodding FPS envolve more (fast-paced) action and all.

However, there are plenty of girls who play FPS or other action games, and there are plenty of guys who play RPGs as well.

My brother plays more RPGs. But then he sucks at FPS games so that's probably why.

I find myself not having the time/will to want to play an RPG.

MMORPG's are a different story, I really like playing with other people and enjoy the randomness and hilarity it can produce.

I also HIGHLY enjoy FPS.

We get into the plot more - I think we are a bit more able to suspend belief so it is more real to us.
