Weeeeeeeeeeelllllllll, his fourth incarnation claimed to be around his late 700s so I'm guessing he's most likely well past his first millenium.

He always lies about his age, probably because the one constant throughout his incarnations has been his ego, which peaked during his sixth self.
I think he's actually at least two thousand (2,000) because I read somewhere that a single body of a Time Lord can last up to a millenium before it starts to "wear a bit thin." It's likely that the first Doctor regenerated because he was around that age at the time.

Hmm... I dunno, I think the Second Doctor sounded pretty honest when he was counting up his age and came to 450 years old, in Earth terms. I'm betting that all of the First Doctor's adventuring meant he wore through his body a lot faster than the average Time Lord.

On the other hand, I agree about the ego. Especially with the newer Doctors, 900 just seems far too young. And he does always like to be mysterious.

Hadn't he already filled his 500-year diary by that time?

And yeah, I still think he's between 1000 and 2100. He probably claims around nine hundred because it's young by Time Lord standards and he wouldn't want to admit that he's getting old. "The Ten Doctors" refers to both the Ninth and the Sixth as being midlife crises.
And one time, the Fourth said he was about 753 or something and Romana corrected him, but even if she knew his real age, I think they would still be perfectly capable of lying through their teeth to an audience.

I would think 450 years would nearly fill a 500 year diary... especially if you had a lot to write about! xd

I agree that he's in the region of 1000 to 2000... though at the same time I kind of wish he was younger because I hate the idea that we've missed seeing huge swathes of his life.

Seven had also worn out his body enough to look old (well older than when he started at least, not as old as One obviously...) so there's probably another 300 years just in his time, if we use the same theory of bodies wearing out.

Doctor Who probably only chronicles the more interesting and/or pivotal (for the universe) parts of his life.

Seven also didn't look terribly old, just enough for his hair to be thinning.
I still insist on One having regenerated at an appropriate time for his body to have worn out, depending on how active he was in earlier parts of his life (between 500 and 1000).

Seven wasn't old looking for a human (I'm not going to be that rude to Sylvester McCoy! sad ) but in terms of how much the other Doctors change over their 'lifespans' (and assuming that they do all live a century or more in that time) then compared to them he aged quite a lot... which suggests his incarnation kept going for a lot longer OR experienced something that aged him prematurely, like what happened to Ten with the Master and all that.

Obviously in real life terms this ageing was because the other actors just did 3 or 4 years each in the role where as Sylvester kept the role for a lot, lot longer but it all goes towards the fictional age count just the same.

I always read that the Doctor was 903 years old.

Yes, but I really think he's just unwilling to admit that he's not young anymore. People with his inflated pride tend to do that. Most Time Lords seem to have that sort of ego as part of their being, sort of like a parallel to human nature.
