Fragment Crossing

For some odd reason, the first thing that came to Namine's mind was a snake, just uncoiling and readying itself to strike. She shifted slightly behind Roxas, her fingers curling around the crook of his elbow just as she took. When another voice brkoe into the moment, she glanced up just enough to get a good enough look at the face that accompanied it.

And then the woman was gone before them.

"What's going on?" She whispered softly in Roxas' ear, not trusting herself to speak confidently out loud. "Roxas... why are we here?"

Xigbar soon found himself near Memmory Skyscrapper. On the way down the path he could hear the voices of others. Saix he could tell was one having just heard that dark voice not too long ago. Damn he recovered quick. The others were far different but still familiar. Two were young, and concidering there were only ex-Nobodies and heartless here, those two voices belonged to Roxas and Namine. He'd only seen Namine a few times since Marluxia and Larxene hogged her in Castle Oblivion for a long time. When she was finnally found again, she was taken in by DIZ. So naturally Xigbar never saw her after that except for the random times she appeared here and there in The Castle That Never Was. But even then that was only once or twice. And as for the fourth voice of the group...the owner belonged to the very person who slinked around the corner as he approached.

"Ah, Larxene. Good to see you again." NOT! Xigbar side stepped to block her way. "And where do you think your going?"

Fragment Crossing

"Roxas? Namine? Larxene? You're here, too?"

The Keyblade Bearer whipped his head around, spotting Saix. He was here too?! That meant Axel should be around here, right? It had been far too long since Roxas had seen his friend from Organization XIII. Larxene, of course, didn't seem all too happy to see the Diviner. That was expected of course. The only people she ever listened to was Marluxia and Xemnas. Frowning, Roxas lowered the keyblade and it disappeared in a flash of light as Larxene turned and left them. What was she up to?

There was a small tug on his arm... Namine... She must be more lost than any of the others. Turning and flashing a confident smile, Roxas replied, "Don't worry. Nothing bad is going to happen. I'll make sure of it."

Memory Skyscraper/Fragment Crossing

This was going fast. It was Xeryim too... It was always Xeryim. Ever since the Prince's birth, the King had taken a particularly special liking to him. Everyone in the Septisinian were affected by it. Sloth was no longer confided in and Pride was now always with him, waiting on him hand and foot. Greed was confined for life and Gluttony and Lust were dead. That only left Envy and Wrath to be pushed around by Xeryim or the irritable Sloth.

That was why he was here. Envy waved a portal of darkness open and stepped into the World That Never Was. Xeryim had given him specific orders, ones that came from the King himself. This was his chance to prove his worth. Maybe he could prove he was even more valuable than Pride or Sloth! This was his chance!

Envy landed between the two areas and looked around, counting each of the figures. Five or so. Good.

The Heartless' voice rang out through the area, "If you have accepted the challenge, follow me into the castle. You have been summoned and tardiness is not an option." Envy glanced around the area cautiously before bounding out of the area, heading straight for the Brink of Despair.

Hopefully they followed. They better follow or else they would never confront the person Xeryim said they should meet.

Challenge? What challenge? Saix was confused...looking towards Roxas and Namine, he sounded oddly confused. "What challenge? I came here because something within me told me I should come here..." He told them, keeping his voice out of earshot of Envy or anyone else...He didn't want to get anyone's attention and make a fool of himself.

Nonetheless, it was a Heartless that offered it, and if it meant to kill one of them, he'd do it, even in his injured state.

He begun to walk towards the castle, but slowly as to hear Roxas or Namine explain a bit.

"Ah, Larxene. Good to see you again."

Idiot. He can try and be as nice as he wants to be.....he'll still get his just desserts in the end... "Hello, Xigbar. Haven't seen you in quite a while........" Brushing past him, she maintained her aura of confidence and coolness. "Guess I will be seeing you around soon." Like when I make you pay....

"If you have accepted the challenge, follow me into the castle. You have been summoned and tardiness is not an option." A challenge? What's this about?............Oh well, time to kick some a**...... "I accept, Heartless." Maintaining her ultra-confident air, she slinked towards the castle, snickering as she moved past Saix. He just may be the first to go afterall....

"Hello, Xigbar. Haven't seen you in quite a while........"

Xigbar shrugged. "Yeah, 'course I wish some while longer but oh well. It happens." He clinched his fist as she brushed past him. Wish it didn't though, you overconfident b***h.

"Guess I will be seeing you around soon."

I wish not but it's unavoidable. "Yeah, guess so." He continued to walk away in the oposite direction. He strode around the corner and saw the Roxas and Namine. "Well hello, kids. What are you up t........" A voice rang out about that moment cutting him off.

"If you have accepted the challenge, follow me into the castle. You have been summoned and tardiness is not an option."

A challenge? Against who? Xigbar smiled and shrugged. "Well it just means more target practice. Later kids." Xigbar turned and headed back to the castle. A portal opened in a wall nearby and he entered, leting it close right afterwards.

Proof of Existence

He blinked upon the sudden light filling his vision. Scanning the area blearily, the small teen noticed he was in some sort of memorial. There were lit panels under foot, each with a black emblem of sorts. Weapons, names. Ienzo began reading off one of the names nearby, whispering the words under his breath.

"The Luna Div-- wait, Saix?" His brow furrowed in confusion. Why was this here? All their names, it felt like...

...A graveyard. They had died, yes, but why the graves? A sinking feeling took place in the pit of his stomach as he kept walking, occasionally glancing at the panels. One in particular grabbed his attention. Wires and broken paneling jutted out from the floor, looking like someone had tried to smash the thing into pieces. Curious, he stepped forward to read the name.

It was his "name" that stared back at him. The cloaked schemer. Smashed to pieces like probably deserved. Fighting back a wave of nausea, Ienzo stepped back and away from the grave, hand clapped over his mouth. Shuddering, he turned and hurried out of the room, biting his lip.

A white corridor greeted him as he stepped out the graveyard. That's all there was. White, white, white. Frowning, he kept moving, wanting to get out of this place as fast as possible. He twisted and turned down each new hallway, trying to find the way out. All he found were a handful of rooms. Stepping through the threshold of one, he blinked in surprise.

Some posters hung on the wall, music sheets were scattered on the floor... almost like someone had left in a hurry. Cocking his head, he stepped over to the mess on the ground. Handwritten sheet music, notes hastily scratched in on the margins. There was no name for the song, just the chords and key signature. Though, he could recognize the handwriting and interest anywhere.

Demyx. This was Demyx's room. Vaguely, he wondered if his was here too. Probably not.

He had, after all, died so early on.

Fragment Crossing

The cold rain woke him from his unconciousness and he sat up rubbing his eyes to help them focus. He looked around, examining his surroundings.A city of some sort. There were neon lights here and there but it was mostly dark. The shadows seemed to move though no sorce of light caused it.He got to his feet and looked around. Where was he? In fact who was he? Xemnas. He knew that was his name....but he knew nothing more than that. Only a name. He looked towards the horizon and saw a huge floating Castle. He felt drawn to it. Having no where else to go concidering, he started walking towards it. He looked up as he did so and saw a heart-shaped moon. Not only was the shape of it odd but also the fact that there was a giant hole in the center of it.

Something caught his eye at that moment and he looked down to see the shadows literally move again. Except this time, something came out of them. A dozen or so things squirmed out of the darkness and blocked his path. What were they? One of the bigger ones, attacked him without warning and he fell to his hands and knees. "Give up, Nobody. You're outnumbered." One of them said. He looked at his hands as he replied. "A Nobody? Is that what I am? I guess so, since I do not even know who I am but the name I remember." He spaced out thinkg for a moment. The big one came at him again. He snapped out of it and clinched his hand into a tight fist. Without thinking he swing his arm out. Instead of his fist connecting however, a red blade of energy extended and sliced the big thing in half. "I may be a nobody but I still exist. That is reason enoug for me to fight for my life...What is this?" Xemnas stood and stared at what was in his hands. Why did this feel so natural. Images of using this weapon as well as other abilities flashed through his mind. All against the things like what he saw before him. He didn't know why he had this power but he knew it flet right to fight these things with it. The creatures hesitated for a moment in surprise then all at once gainged up on him. He called forth another blade in his other hand and began taking them out one by one with ease, like as if this was second nature to him. When all of them were gone he sighed and the blades dissappeared.

But it relaxed too soon as that moment nearly twice as many more appeared. "You are like cockroaches. Kill one, and thousands more appear in its place. Leave me ALONE." As he spoke that last word with an tone of rage, he spread his arms and called forth multiple beams of red energy around the small area, surrounding all of them in a dome shape. He then thrusted his arms downward with a quick motion and the beams closed in on the creaturse taking them out all at once. No more appeared out after that. Probably out of fear of him. No matter, he didn't feel like fighting anymore anyway. What ever purpose his power was used for, it must have been sometime since last he used it. His body wasn't ready to endure that much at the moment. He felt weak but he continued to walk on, heading to the castle that still drew him in.

The Brink of Despair

Xigbar stopped in his tracks and whirled around as a chill shot down his spine. What was with this lately? It seemed to happen with the arival of each of the ex-nobodies. So who ws it this time? Xaldin? Marluxia, who Larxene was looking for? No it was far too intimedating a feeling to be Marly, and too powerfull to be Xaldin for that matter. He didn't where were Saix was at the moment but this feeling seemed to even surpass his. But who amongst the Nobodies was capable of being even more threatening than Saix? Xigbar couldn't think of anyone at the moment. Probably due to the attentino towards the voice or possibly because of the encounter of Larxene his mind was overloaded and he couldn't really think very well. Xigbar thought about going back but since he had just came from ther it was pointless going back right now. Whoever it was...the feeliing seemed o grow stronger meaning the person was aproaching. Xigbar would soon find out who it was. Till then he would just continue on into the castle.

Don't worry. Nothing bad is going to happen. I'll make sure of it.
Namine nodded at Roxas' words and followed his footsteps as closely as she could. She didn't understand much of what was going on, but if Roxas said that things were going to be fine then she would wholeheartedly believe in those words.

As she glanced briefly over her shoulder to note the others who were walking alongside them, Namine stepped a little bit closer to Roxas. As childish as it might seem, she felt just a little bit uneasy around these people and the explanations stil eluded her as to why.

I wonder where Demyx is...?

The thought popped into her head like a drop of rain and a feeling of sudden anxienty rushed through her. Her fingers gave Roxas' hand a gentle squeeze and she whispered softly so that only he could hear.

"Where's Demyx?"

The World That Never Was--The Brink of Despair

"What the ******** with these bastards? They don't freaking go away!" Axel growled, slicing through yet more of the slimy Neoshadows. Rain poured on his head, and Number VIII felt an increasing want for his old cloak. It always kept the rain off. Argh. He hated the rain.

Another set cut down, and yet more came to take their place. He was slowing up, and that wasn't a good thing. Another set. No more came back. Time to open up a fresh can of a**-kick, and wipe out the rest of the slippery heartless.

Shhhhhick! There went the last of them. A sudden voice reached Axel's ears, causing his attention to jerk.

"If you have accepted the challenge, follow me into the castle. You have been summoned and tardiness is not an option." ... A heartless? Definitely. Axel looked up at the castle with an emerald stare. Well... he was already there. Now to wait for the heartless.

Xigbar made his way back to the castle and saw Axel finish off the rest of the heartless. "God, Axel, did it take you that long to get rid of 'em. Your gettin rusty, my friend." He smiled and shook his head and aproached Axel. "So I guess you got the message too? Wonder what we'll be up against?" Xigbar looked up at the Castle pausing for a moment. "Guess we'll find out soon enough."

Xigbar looked back again at the city. Why was that strange feeling still there, deep in his gut. He looked back at Axel, "Hey are you getting a wierd feeling, like from somebody in the city? I can't put my finger on it but it seems familiar, yet not the feeling you get from Saix or Larxene. It's been driving me crazy for the past several minutes now."

Fragment Crossing/Alley to Between

Roxas watched nervously as the others poured out of the area and followed Envy as he led them on. His heart sped up to an alarming rate. This was it. This was the challenge Xeryim mentioned. For once and for all, he would take revenge upon Riku's Heartless for all the damage he had done that was done not only to him, but to Sora and everyone. But Envy's comment on tardiness worried him. Why would being late be such a problem?

He took Namine's hand (though his were shaking ever so slightly) and shook his head. "I... really don't know. I don't think he's here though. I'm sure he's safe..."

But were they safe? Was Namine? Surely he couldn't lead her straight into a battle. He would protect her by all means possible!

"Namine," Roxas looked up intently, worry splayed across his face. He looked around carefully then hurried back away from the castle and Envy. He ducked into the alleyway and then took both of Namine's hands and squeezed intently. "Please trust me about this. Just stay here and wait. I will come back, I promise! I don't know what will happen with the Heartless and I'll never forgive myself if you get hurt! Just lie low until I come back!"

With that statement, Roxas turned and fled before all bravery left him. Just as it was with Aros, this was something he had to do. This time, however, he knew he had to win and that was because of his promise. He would return to Namine!

It was a promise!

Altar of Naught

Envy had to wait but a few moments before the Nobodies came into sight. With a sniff and a sharp turn, the Heartless fled into the castle. He wound through the pristine hallways and corridors until he could go no further. Envy stood in the threshold of the doorway to the Alter of Naught.

This was it. This was what he had to do. Lead the Nobodies to meet with his King... The King of Kingdom Hearts. Envy stood silently at the doorway as if he were a guard to Vivax.

Slowly he turned, gazing down Run and Creation's Passage.

The Nobodies would arrive and as he wished, King Vivax Inferous would speak with them.
