The thought of someone getting eaten in the cafeteria struck Sid as morbidly amusing, especially given his state of mind lately. At least when he snickered it sounded remotely normal, though with no frame of reference it likely sounded crazy, too.
"Uh..." He figured he'd better try and cover for that. "Nee ehny he'p?"
As if he could do anything more than trail after Zach and gasp if he dropped her.

"Uh..." He trailed off in thought, taking a couple of tentative steps forward. So far, so good. He turned his attention back to the older man. "There isss sssomething..."
"Go grab... a couple burgersss... on a plate for me... thanksss..." He stopped, shifting his weight again. It was a strain to talk and carry a furry girl. "Don't want her... to kill me... when she comesss to..."

Sid nodded, not wanting to discover how he might mess up just saying 'burgers'. The pain in his tail was only just subsiding to a dull ache, and on the off chance Zach was watching he didn't want to risk rubbing it as he walked across the room. At the buffet line he slipped his cane to the crook of his arm long enough to fill a plate. Not sure how firm his grip might be with hands like his, he carried the plate back by balancing it on the palm of his hand. That rekindled memories of all those past jobs that never seemed to last more than a few weeks.
It was too much to hope Zach could, say, balance the plate between those horns, so it looked like he was stuck following anyway. "Reh'ee?"

"Yeah... Let'sss get out of here..." With a steady determination, Zach headed out the door, Sid now in tow behind him. At least he wouldn't feel guilty if he knew she wasn't some other predator's lunch, unable to defend herself. The staff was somewhat... unreliable... when it came to stopping people from ripping each other apart in time. Even so, carrying the girl was all kinds of awkward, not to mention strenuous. He still had to take her up a flight of stairs, too.
This was going to be a long day.
