RIchard shook his head. "I'm sorry. Its been a bad day." Richard paused. "Does it get easier? Do they ever make mistakes?"

Richard didn't want to give up but all he could do right now was wait, and live.

"It... all depends, really. It got harder for me, but once it's over theres a sense of finality. As for making mistakes... rarely." She paused. "There have been a number of assassination attempts at some of the staff and sometimes they get close... but never fall through in the end."

Amaya frowned and placed one of her large hands on his shoulder. "But everyone is different, maybe things will be easier for you. Just try and be happy... it's all we can really do." She forced him a tiny smile. "Maybe go back to your room, sleep off the day. Things might be better when you wake up." Though she couldn't see how.

Richard gave a weak smile and patted her hand. Then leaned againist the wall, his legs sticking out in front of him. He reached into his jacket and pulled a small metal flask from its depths. Frowned at it and unscrewed the cap. Taking a swig he set it down in front of him.

"I'm just not sure how to classify this. I've seen atrosity, I've seen suffering. I've been to the Congo, and Baghdad after the US invaded. I have seen first hand what people are capable off, the crimes they commit againist each other."

"Is that better or worse than what's going on here?"

"I dunno, I didn't experiance or really know about those things..." Amaya trailed off, being a little young to know much about history besides what she was taught in school. "But... here we have food and electricty and water, places to live... they keep us healthy if we get sick and... they give you anything you want if you kiss their asses enough." She bit her bottom lip, feeling bad for cursing. She always felt bad for cursing in front of older people.

"All of those things just come with a price. The price to be a labrat, to have your life manipulated, and... to have your humanity stripped away."

Richard wasn't sure how to ask this in a nice way so he just blurted it out. "How... how inhuman are you? I mean besides your appearence." To Richard most of Amaya's responses had been quite human.

Now there was a question. Amaya looked at him for awhile before letting out a shakey breath. "It's... a little more complicated then being able to say what's human and what isn't. When your as... melded to an animal as I am, it gets hard to tell what's animal and what's not." She looked up at him, her words truthful. "I haven't gotten dumber and... for the most part I think the same. Most of it's behavioral changes. Things that seem normal to me now I know wouldn't have been if I were still human."

She paused for a moment before adding examples. "For instance I feel safer in trees, I headbob when I greet someone sometimes, I flick my tongue and sniff the air. Things like that. They're all subconscious reactions."

"Oh... That doesn't sound that different. Is it always that way?" Richard took another swig of whatever was in the flask.

"Pretty much." Amaya gave a little smile. "I have it rather good, compared to some others though. Some seem to lapse in and out of human thought - normally they're predators. That's only happened a couple of times though." She tried to encourage, he seemed too... old to really be much of an extreme after he changed.

Richard wondered about that. He thought about the conclusion of the interview with Moreau. The future was so uncertian. He needed to meet more islanders. Find out more. And he needed to stop being so god damn depressed.

"Well whining and crying isn't going to help I suppose." Richard got up.

"Thanks for the conversation, next time I'll find a happier topic."

Amaya nodded and smiled to him, the expression still odd-looking on her animalistic features. "Thank you, too. It's nice to talk once in awhile." She gathered her book and looked back to him. "I'll see you around, Richard and it was nice meeting you. If you ever need anything, just come to my duplex number 22."

And with a headbob and a flick of her tongue, she headed out of the entertainment room.
