I can never find bookmarks. I have alot of nice ones I got from Borders but I can never find them when I need them. With old books I dogear sweatdrop . But with new books, books I really want to keep in good condition, and my manga collection I either remember a big event the go untill i find where I was, use a scrap of paper or anything else like that, or I remember what page I was on.

I don't dogear my books 'cause I have this strange obsession where I can't stand folded corners... sweatdrop . So I use whatever I can find...usually it's a piece of paper...once I used post its, and sometimes I use flashcards that have little cheat codes for whatever test/quiz I'd be taking that day...
Most recently though, I've been using a guide of Star Wars figurines from Burger king...

I don't really care whether books are dogeared or not; to me it's not the book that's important, but the story.

I have a lot of very nice unused bookmarks around here somewhere, I just never find them. Usually I just leave the book open or use any paper product that is around . Bookmarks are cool, but they are never around when you need them.

i fold down the page. it's easier to find where i am and open up the book that way. though i suppose bookmarks would serve that purpose too... if it's my book... an easy way to prove it's mine? something like that. something ingrained.

I've been finding many of my old bookmarks I've had for the longest time. They show the years of abuse. xd

I just try to remember the page number. Some of the time though, I find images and make a tiny little collage and use for a bookmark, but that's only if I'm really desperate.

I do the same thing (remember the page # anyways). I also once used a pair of scissors, my poor beloved books, a hair tie, headphones (like the ipod ones), and a bubblegum wrapper (never fear it was clean).

ive used straw wrappers, post cards, those things the sticker comes in from the machines. pretty much whatever i can find either after the bookmark i was using falls apart cus ive had it for three years or the bookmark i was using gets lost in the book after starting to read it.

I just memorize the page number. I never dogear or tear a peice off, because most of the books I read I get from other people or from the library. And besides, defacing the book like that... *shudders*

Mom put some heavy books on top of my Rurouni Kenshin graphic novels, and the bookmark my friend made for me was bent on top since I had it wedged in volume 7. sad

I dogear all my books. repeatedly. I try to make it small though, and on the bottom of the page, but it drives my mother crazy. I won't write on my books though, I'll find a different piece of paper and write what I need to there, and stick it in the book. Why do I dogear though? Because I check out almost all of my books from the library, so they're all crappy anyway, and it's not like I have to live with the bent pages.
