I'm 15. Whoo jail bait! Started likin' yaoi when I was in 6th/7th grade I think. (hey that's when I found out I was bi, duh) So apx I was 11/12. I started likin' anime when I was 6 tho. Toonami Midnight Run and Raising Sun ho! (hentai was 10/11, yuri was 12/13) At 13/14 I got a little twisted and my obsession wit' bondage and machoistism started....okay I can't spell but anyways I'm still in that obsession. I like pain, I'm not emo!

Im 21 now but I was about 16 when i first got into yaoi. I happened to stumble across the Kaworu/Shinji pairing from NGE, and for some reason i found it really intriguing and in a way, lovely. I don't know why i thought this, maybe because it one of them is an Angel? It was weird, because i had never been deeply into pairings or fandoms, but i felt so strongly about this, that i just angsted over it for ages! After that it was mostly fanfiction and fanart which drew me in, it was amazed at how a fictional pairing could inspire fans like it did. From there it just spread out. I have a perv mind at the best of times!

I got into it at about 13. I got a free volume of Tokypop samples after I bought something. I found a sample of Eerie Queerie, and later on bought the first volume when I'd finally found it. I then proceeded to fall in love. heart

Well, I started reading manga that wasn't really yaoi, but had some sort of hinting toward it when I was 13. (Descendants of Darkness, no love, but very strong vibes) To be honest, I thought that I was a huge pervert for liking things of this nature- boys loving boys (I happen to live in a very small redneck town, there are less than 500 people, and none of them know much about the outside world). But I couldn't help liking it. As I grew older, I purchased more manga that kept pushing the boundry between boy on boy.
I am 16 1/2 and I am no longer ashamed of my love of boy love. In fact, I show my books to my friends, the rednecks, and don't care what they think. I believe the reason I love this books is: it gives me a feeling of not belonging in my town (thank god!) and of course... I love the books!!!
Now, my younger sister and I make our own fan-fics. I write, she draws. It is one of the very few things we like to do together.

yo! well..I am 17 but I will turn 18 soon - only 4 months left!!!! *banzaaaaaaai* rofl ok, my first yaoi / shounen-ai experience was on my 15 birthday - my best friend gave me Gravitation as a present.at first I wasn t sure if I want to see it - I had nothing against it but it was something different even though I knew some people who actually live yaoi and they were sooo cute together 4laugh ... and yet I am a famous yaoi freek in our town (together with my older sister and best friend) and I can t live without it heart
to be honest I had and still I don t have any compunction because liking stuff like this... and I can above-board tell you that I am a little pervert (well..maybe too much for my age sweatdrop ) .. for me it s just natural to doing all the kind of things I love or like...

I'm 18 and I've liked yaoi since I was about 13. The series that got me into yaoi was FFVII. At first it was cute drawings but then I got curious about more 'mature' things and yeah...At first it freaked me out because I didn't know two men could do things like 'that' eek ...but now I don't think I can be freaked out by anything. Honestly, when I watch Naruto, some of the actual episodes freak me out more than the doujinshi sweatdrop (thousand years of pain rofl )
what I like is somewhere between fluff and hardcore, like in the middle. What can I say, I like naked boys but if things are too graphic then I don't find it sexy, I like to leave just a little to the imagination.

I'm 18, but I have been watching anime since I was 8. I used to watch Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z all of the time. When I turned 11 I started to watch other anime shows on TV and draw them as well.
I stared high scool at the age of 13. During my first semester I met a friend that I am still very close with today. She introduced me to manga.
Not long after that I started searching the internet for new animes. I was browsing AOL search when I stumbled across an anime called Gravitation. It looked interesting so I clicked on the link to the site. I saw the word 'fanfictions' under the menu bar. And thus was my introduction to yaoi and fanfiction.
From there the rest is rather self-explanitory. Before that web site I hated reading and yaoi was a very foreign concept. Now I can honestly say that I don't know how I could live without it.

My experience to yaoi and BL animes....? I experienced liking it when I think I was still 7 years old. subconsciously wanting Kurama and Hiei to end up together. then when I was like 12 years old KazukixJuubei pairings cleared my mind and concluded to myself that i definitely love BL animes and Yaoi. It wa my friends that coaxed me to try Yaoi mangas since that time I was just contented with slash pairings. and now look at what they've done to me. I even surpassed their knowledge and liking to BL. which I am grateful of.

I'm 18 years old, I will be 19 in 25 days! I started liking anime around the age of 16 or so but it wasn't until my senior year in high school where my friend introduced me to Eerie Queerie and I loved it very much. Although I had to use a book cover because I would read at school and I couldn't imagen the look on my teachers faces when they found out. xd Then I found out that it was only 4 volumes long so I went looking for more on the internet, one particular one that keep poping up was FAKE and I loved that one too. Since then I have been obessed with BL books and I have bought several more such as Gravitation, Legal Drug, Love Mode, Man's Best Friend, Tokyo Babylon, and Gorgeous Carret.
I myself like any type of action, doesn't matter if its fluff or hardcore. I love watching naked scenes, I usally preffer if they show everything because I hate it when they don't show it. It's like if you are going to draw them having sex no matter if it's hardcore or fluff why not show the p***s? But what can you do about it.

I got into yaoi when I suddenly got this urge of liking Gundam Wing. In the Netherlands we only had DBZ on tv, and pkmn and well. all of a sudden I liked Gundam Wing, didn't get the story (and mechas arent my fav), so I looked up fanart and doujinshi... and HUBBAH HUBBAH!
I think it's up to yourself when you find yurself mature enough. I know when I first found it (I was 15 or sumthing) I didn't like the explicit content that much. Now I'm 21, Im like; BRING IT ON!
I like all kinds of yaoi, but the characters must be appealing. I don't like shallow characters, it's boring. Manga I love: Gravitation (I really consider this more as comedy then real yaoi or shounen-ai tho),Our Kingdom, Desire, Little Butterfly, Challengers, Kizuna, ehm... much more XD

For-Chan Cookie That said, I'm curious about how you got into yaoi and how you feel about it. Were you drawn into yaoi because of anime or some other way, like Harry Potter perhaps? Was if fanfiction that converted you, or maybe fanart? Do you find that you're discriminated against because of your age? Do you feel that perhaps you're not mature enough to deal with some of the content? What age do you consider to be mature enough? Are there fans that annoy you? Are you angry that places like Y!Gallery won't let you join because of your age? Are you a "squeeeee" type of fan or do you feel that you hold yourself with more maturity? What are your yaoi genre preferences (fluff, hardcore, etc)? Okay, I'm fifteen, so I'll answer your questions!
I like yaoi becuase of anime and becuase my friend Sarah, one year older than me, gave me a lot of manga and sent me a lot of links to fanart and fanfics on the web. I mostly liked the fanart becuase, hell, two guys kissing is friggin hot. I don't even understand the discrimination question, so I guess the answer is no. Since I'm a virgin, the heavy hardcore stuff does kinda freak me out, so I stick to the fluff. There is no right age, it's when you as a person become mature. Some yaoi fans are just retarded, I mean, we have to keep some dignity. I'm a little 'squeeee' sometimes, but I try to retain myself. I prefer the fluff.
