Sabin Duvert Vice Captain

Merde! That's right, he was here for a resort, not a medical facility... ah well. Part of Sabin was rather enjoying seeing how dissonate of a picture Sabin could paint for the boy and see him still maintain the status quoue or seek out some sort of rationale for the discrepency. People didn't like experiencing things that jived wrong with their picture of what should be, and would cling to a comforting story even if it was just that - a story... a lie.
The man was ill at ease, but he had yet to even bring up that hesitance. It was interesting to see how cultural formalities played!
Sabin led him into an elevator, and spoke "Floor 8" aloud.
"Town center? Yes, well, there's got to be a central location for a cafeteria, gym, entertainment center... the like. It makes it easier on the guests." Ahh... 'guests'. What another delightfully misleading term.
The elevator sprung to life, carrying them up through the innards of the building, an then opened directly into a single, large lab room.
Sabin waved Liamh in and went to go inspect the contents of a cabinet, referencing a file in his hand to labels on the bottles.
"Just roll up your sleeve and I'll be with you in a mooment~!" Sabin called out far too cheerily.

Liamh wrinkled his nose, looking around the lab as they exited the elevator, but only taking in a vague scan of the sterile room. "Guests? So, wait, the resort's running already? I thought it wasn't completed...." That's.... kind of odd, Liamh scratched his ear as Duvert rummaged in a cabinet. Maybe he'd meant the workers and staff. That would make more sense. He'd just been referring to them politely. Unless....
"Ohhh hey, i get it." Liamh turned to him, raising an eyebrow and gesturing with an index finger.
"You're using the time before the fancy part's set up to rent out to the 'roughing it' crowd? That's smart. Not everybody can pay an arm and a leg for a private resort vacation, but it doesn't mean you can get something for lettin' em tag on for the 'motel in paradise' tour, eh? Good for them. They're the types to actually enjoy the scenery first hand anyway. The avid snorklers and rock climbers and hiking fanatics."
Liamh rambled on as Sabin looked over the rows in the cabinet, mostly out of nerves. He hated needles. No, he didn't so much hate NEEDLES, he just hated getting stabbed with *anything*. Needles just had the added creepy effect of being medical and - worse - usually for injecting substances or drawing blood. Skin was there to keep the blood in and the substances out, dammit, and that's the way he liked it. He refused to think that was ironic from a security point of view.
"Then of course you'll still get the same types with the later crowd, hopefully you'll still have all the same nature schtick for them too, but there's always gonna be more of the lay-by-the-pool types. Wouldn't mind doing that myself, actually," he said, his mouth running as he felt increasingly more uncomfortable.

Sabin smiled to himself as he found the bottle that matched the designation in Liamh's file. Kudzu, huh? Interesting.
And there it went - the rationalization. Finding an excuse for the discrepency that Sabin presented him with. And it was rather an interesting one at that. That just left playing along with it... smooth him over and allay his concerns... and then be privvy to see when it all fell apart around him whenever he likely met his first islander.
"Yup! You've got a good head for business, Liamh! The added bonus that these early arrivals get is that they get to use the beaches, explore the jungle and climb the mountain before the hoardes of vacationers come. When the beaches are still virgin, the jungles still might just contain some mystery."
He unwrapped a syringe and drew the murky substance into the needle, grabbed a cotton swab and wandered over to Liam, cleaning the injection area.
"No pool yet." He commented airily as the needle slid into his arm. A pinch, a sting... a feeling of spreading warmpth... and then the needle was out and being tossed in a bin.
"But there's a lake just by the living quarters.. and a beach within an easy walk."

Liamh winced, willing himself not to rub at the spot where he'd been 'stung'. Had to keep any puncture clean, especially if he wasn't getting a bandaid for it. He took a deep breath to settle himself. "No pool?" He said, arching an eyebrow at Sabin. "Well, beach's still good. Hey, do i get a lollipop?" He forced a grin at Duvert.
Hey, maybe he *did* have a good head for business, who knew. On top of that, he'd guessed it, their enterprise. It was a small, insignificant victory, but after the disconcertment he'd been feeling here, it was something. He felt the warmth from the "innoculation" running up his arm and spreading through him, which was disturbing, but maybe he was feeling better anyway.
He wondered idly if he'd be getting any time after hours for enjoying the complex. It'd kind of suck to have to work the rest of the time solid. In any case, he'd have to make the best use of the day off tomorrow, just in case.

"There, that wasn't so bad, now was it?" Sabin said, dusting his hands off with a smirk. "And a lollipop? Hah! Who knows, maybe there are some in one of these drawers."
He made a quick show of looking through a few cabinets and pull-out drawers. Most of them contained either more bottles of serums, syringes, latex gloves, tongue depressors, stethoscopes or other devices that were a bit more specialized and technological.
He shook his head with an apologetic look. "Nope, no lollipop. But there's ice cream at the cafeteria. And that's much better." Sabin finished matter-of-factly. "And of course, all of it is on the house for your stay here. We even have a fully stocked bar on the beach. That had to be built before the pool of course. Even those roughing it still want their alcohol."
Sabin started walking back towards the elevator. "I'll take you to your room now, if you're ready?"

Liamh laughed and rubbed the back of his head to avoid rubbing at the needle-mark. "Eh, i bet they do! Actually, that sounds like a good idea. Well, getting drunk and swimming in the ocean would be a BAD idea, but i'm sure everybody uses common sense..." he shrugged. He followed after Sabin, and switched gears. "On the house, eh? That's great! I was kinda wondering if i'd need to bill PIT for my expenses here - didn't bring a whole lotta cash, but a bit just in case...."
He paused for a moment. "Hey, what's at the entertainment center, by the way?" He resumed walking after the frenchman. "Movies?"

"You'd be surprised. But hey, that's what natural selection is for, right?" Sabin laughed. Was he joking?
Sabin shook his head. "We're paying you to do a good job, and part of that payment is by playing good hosts. Hell, if you have a good time, you can even tell your buddies about us back home and maybe they'll book a trip!"
Sabin Started to retrace their route to the exam room: down the elevator, through the hall and lobby, and then back out to the jeep with Liamh's baggage.
"We've got a movie room, and keep a good stock of periodicals, bestsellers, and some nature books. And then we've got an arcade." Sabin grinned.
He got back into the driver's seat and looked expectantly to Liam. "Ready to check it out?"

Arcade! Liamh hovered next to the jeep, thunderstruck. Well, it was probably just the kind of little crappy ones they had in bars and small bowling alleys, but still, it was an arcade. That made it all better. He came to his senses and practically jumped into the jeep.
"Yeah! Er, yeah, sounds great. Lead on, swami." He chuckled, stretching his folded arms behind his head. The injected one was a little sore. Maybe he'd take a nap after unloading his stuff, then go make the rounds. And check out the cafeteria, too, he hoped it was more 'hotel/university' cafeteria and less 'highschool' cafeteria.
He looked out across at the jungle. Maybe he'd take a hike, too. Maybe. He gave an unconscious sniff. Maybe *later*.

"And off we go!" Sabin revved the engine and the jeep shot out of the parking lot like the silver ball into a pinball machine. THis time, however, he headed for a different gate that swung open to reveal a similarly narrow jungle road.
About a ten minute, slightly-less-harrowing, drive through the jungles later, the "town" that Sabin had mentioned came into view. Arranged like a wheel around a large central building, with a lake on the far side of the road and a path leading out Westward.
"And here we are! The guest quarters that we have so far. The big building in the middle is the town hall - and all of the general-access rooms are built into it: the cafeteria, the arcade, the movie room, and even a laundromat and a small clinic."
He drove a little past it, pulling along side a stack of buildings. "And here you are! You're the upstairs one, Lucky number 66. And I think that you might just get along with your downstairs neighbor - he's another networking guy." Sabin beamed to Liamh and pressed a hotel-like key into his hands. It had a brass key attached to a teal-blue keyring with "66" on it.

"Ah, thanks." Liamh accepted the key, eyeing the upper duplex. "Yeah, i bet there's all kinds of us working on this beast you're constructing. It'll be great when it's finished, though. Kind of gives you a feeling of accomplishment, doens't it?" he said with a note of satisfaction. He opened the door and swung his legs out, moving around to unload his bags. Would have to be the top floor, wouldn't it, with all this. That'll teach me to drag so much crap along..
"Thanks for showin' me in, Mr. Duvert. There any events or community stuff or curfews i should know about?" Don't say public bathroom cleaning roster, or KP duty for that matter... He shook his head slightly to himself.
"Oh, and uh, what time do i report in tomorrow? Do i hike back out to the big building, or is somebody gonna pick me up, or...." he glanced over at Duvert again. Maybe there was a resort shuttle he'd be taking.

"No problem at all.... and it certainly does give one that feeling." Sabin said, his smile stretching across his face. It certainly did. Not for the reasons that Liamh presumed, but Sabin did indeed feel accomplished.
"No curfews, and no real obligatory community events. If you're still around by the end of next month, we might throw a Halloween party, though.." Sabin mused.
"And as far as tomorrow, get a good night's sleep, and hell, we can go for a day - go ahead and get yourself aquainted tomorrow with the setup. We'll get you started Monday so that should give you time to relax before digging in full-force to the work."

Liamh nodded, setting the last of the bags on the ground in front of the duplex. "Oh, yeah, right. I guess i'm just too jazzed about the project," he laughed. "Yeah monday would be great, actually. Give me some time to get over jetlag. Cool."
He turned, picking up one bag and twirling his room key ring on his finger. "End of next month, eh?" He scrunched up half of his face. "Well i'm only contracted for the project for the next few weeks, but i think they'd probably let me take a week off after that and just vacation here - it'd make sense, after all. Might as well take it while i can!" he laughed. "Depends on if they'll still cover the travel expenses back, or if -" he nodded at Sabin, "the rest of the resort guys want me off the premesis or something. It'd be great though."
He glanced up at the clear sky. "We certainly wouldn't get weather like this in the fall back home, that's for sure."

"Well enjoy your extended weekend, then, Liamh! Feel free to take notes or call up the labs if you've got questions. Hit Zero on your intercom to reach the main facilities. Otherwise, have fun and rest up."
Sabin waved, starting the enging back up and making to head back to the labs.
"We'll see about extending your stay." He couldn't help but grin, whether or not Liamh would pick it up.
"And no... it certainly isn't like this back home at all." He finished with almost a creepy edge in his voice.
Then, with a wave and a "Well, Take care!" Sabin headed back towards the labs.

Liamh watched the jeep speed off, kicking up dust in it's wake. He waved, shaking his head slightly. "Weird guy, but funny." he turned back to the duplex and picked up a bag in each hand - the laptop one of them - and marched up the stairs determinedly. He fiddled with the lock and key for a moment before hearing the CLIK!, then turned the handle and pushed the door open with his foot. The room looked like any basic hotel/motel room, smelled similarly musty and clean at the same time. He dropped the bags inside the door and glanced around. "Luuuucy," he muttered to himself. "I"m hoooome."
Then he turned on his heel to retrieve the rest of the bags.
Once he'd gotten everything stowed if not unpacked, he flopped down on the bed and stared out the window, leaving the door open behind him. The weight of all the traveling was weighing on him, maybe he'd just take a nap until it was 'time' to go out again.
Then again, 'time' to do anything was going to be a bit more fluid here, wasn't it? At least for the next few days.... He flopped over on his stomach with his head at the foot of the bed and stretched out. Yeah. For once, time was his.

Entertainment Tonight! Liamh wakes after a long nap and wanders down to the rest of the village in the evening... And is quickly lured by the siren call of the Entertainment room and all it's electronic glory. He encounters Gaius and Marshall, assuming them to be resort-goers wearing some kind of prosthetics; junk food, movie-watching, and other such hijinx ensue.
