Covet recieved the package from him and unwrapped it slowly as he settled himself close to her. At his explanation, she glanced over at him and then back down to the book she had uncovered. She was immediately entranced by its beauty and she ran her fingers gently over the gorgeous cover.
"Oh Mecca..." she started and then lifted her eyes back to his. "It's beautiful," she smiled happily as she held the book close to her chest and leaned over to kiss his lips softly. "Thank you," she said softly, reaching up to run her fingers over his hair.

Mecca watched he expressions and gave her a cold smile as she pulled back from him. He watched her carefully once more as he fingers sought his hair. Musing over her weary state. "Let's sleep." He said tracing his fingers along her arm. "We may go to a tavern later if you wish to eat. Now you look as though you are about to drop and I have no appointments for the rest of the day."

Covet watched his cool crimson fingers slide easily over the skin of her arm and this time was unable to supress the shiver that ran through her. She looked back up into his eyes and smiled warmly at him.
"I am okay. I promise," she lied, withdrawing her hand from his hair, pausing to slip it into his briefly before she wrapped her arm over the other, pulling the journal closer to her. She smirked and looked around for a moment, again her eyes unconsciously fell on the steel box.
"Have you found out more about our discovery at the cathedral in Illia?" she asked, unable to look away though she wanted to.

Mecca withdrew his had as she shuddered, watching her carefully. "Maybe I wished to rest." He said cooly, standing and crossing to start placing his books on one of the few empty shelves.
"I do not have the time to spend at the moment." He said watching the way her eyes travelled towards it, the longing in them barely concealed. "And you would do well to forget about it. Else I'll have it destroyed."

Covet blinked at the threat and managed to pull her eyes away to look up at him. "I was just curious if you had managed to find out anything of interest about it," she said with a small shrug. She uncurled herself and rose to her feet, still clutching the journal close to her. She eased it away from her chest and looked down at the beautiful cover, smiling as she ran her fingers lovingly over the iridescent colors. Setting the jouranl down on the table beside her, she looked up at him again with a small smile.
"Shall we go rest now then?" she asked, holding her hand out to him.

Mecca turned to glare at her. "If you would rather not, you may leave." He said looking down at her hand. "If you are so repulsed by my touch you shudder as though cold." He frowned and pulled out a journal similar to Covet's with a crescent moon on the front.
For weeks now she had been distant with him, lying and acting strange. It irritated him, a lot.

Covet was taken slightly aback by the glare that was sent her way. When he merely looked at her hand, she slowly retracted it and frowned slightly in concern.
"How could you say that I am repulsed by your touch when you know I welcome it always? I felt a chill and could not help but shiver. Forgive me that I cannot control my body better for you," she smirked. She swallowed hard and resisted the urge to look at the box. She needed to get out of the shop before she did something stupid in his presence.
"I would like to lie down with you Mecca, but if you would rather I leave, then I shall," she said simply with another small shrug. She reached out for her journal and book and tucked them in the crook of her arm. Chewing lightly on her lip, she slowly turned to leave.

"Every time I have made contact with you today, you happened to feel cold?" he smirked to himself and turned his cold eyes up to her. The smirk, he smirked a lot but never Covet. That was why he liked her, she had feelings that he could never touch on. "I think you are sick Covet, and I think you are lying to me." He chewed on his lower lip, resisting the urge to tell her to leave. If she really was ill then she did not need to be alone and matador would not be able to help her.
"Come." He said holding out his hand. "I'll help you get warm."

Covet paused with her back to him then slowly turned to face him as he spoke. She raised a purple brow when he voiced his opinion on her health and wanted to agree with him, to tell him he was right, but she couldn't. The words died before they even reached her lips. Setting her books down again, she slowly reached out and slipped her hand into his. She knew deep down she needed help, but she was unable voice the need.
"Alright," she said softly, keeping her eyes on his.

Mecca took her hand and led her upstairs to the bedroom. "You should try and sleep too." He said as he released her hand to shrug off his coat and remove his boots. "Please Covet, talk to me."

Following him up the stairs to the bedroom, she reached behind her back and loosened the laces to the corset she wore. Slipping it off, she breathed in deeply in satisfaction. At his plea, she felt like she could cry. She wanted to tell him, but she wasn't sure how. Untying the scarf from her waist, she tossed it carelessly to the floor on top of the similarly discarded corset and looked up at him.
"I... I can't," she said and then raised her hand to stop him before he could speak. "I honestly mean that I cannot tell you," she continued, struggling for a way to make him understand. Whatever was wrong with her made it impossible for her to ask for help and she was starting to scare herself with the things she had said and done in the last few weeks. Reaching up, she grasped his shirt lightly willing him to understand as she searched his eyes. "Please... Me-chan..."

Mecca frowned and swallowed, he really did not like the look in her eyes. In fact it was worriying him, more than he thought he was capable of. "Shhh," he soothed uncharacteristically, stroking his fingers down her wings. Pulling back he climbed into the bed fully clothed and pulled her in next to him. "Please try to sleep." He said pulling her close to him. "Maybe you will feel better when you wake."

Chewing on the inside of her lip, she allowed him to pull her onto the bed. She buried herself into his warmth, but it only made her feel colder. Taking a deep breath, she breathed him in and slowly breathed out, forcing herself to relax. Tucking her head under his chin, she closed her eyes and it wasn't long before the exhaustion seized her and sent her off to sleep.

Mecca held her tightly trying to wrack his brains to try and think what could be wrong with her. This had been going on since that day at the cathedral, but it was concealed and safe, wasn't it.
As his brain whirled with thoughts it was not long before ha had joined her, falling fast asleep.

Only a couple of hours passed and again, Covet woke with a start. With her heart racing, she sat up and pulled away from Mecca's arms. Without looking back, she rose from the bed and walked down the stairs. Running her hands through her hair, she walked into the shop and went straight to the box. Breathing deeply, she only hesitated a moment before reaching up and lifting the box from the shelf. She was so close she could almost feel the darkness through the steel now. Closing her eyes tightly, she concentrated on slowing her breathing and heart, though neither seemed to want to cooperate.
