The mage nodded. "The lantern seemed to ask me for blood. And it wasn't a problem for me or anything. I mean, I've shed blood to cast spells a lot in the past, especially some of the more powerful necromancers' spells I know. But..." he trailed off and shrugged. "Knife slipped, cut my hand and I dropped it. Stuck in the table like that, and like I said, I figured I shouldn't move it."

"That's jus a -little- creepier than I figured I'd find here..." Chris murmured, giving a weak smile as she looked to Kumoru. "I wouldn't want to move it either... Though have you gotten in touch with your lantern's spirit? You told me that you were trying to get in contact with it before but you never told me how it went." Chris stopped a few feet from it, able to see the illumineseance radiating from it's whispy vapor in the eliptical orbit about it. Not knowing what that was, or if it was at all dangerous; but if it was circling a knife she knew it couldn't be good at all.

He shrugged a little and brushed his hair back behind his ear. "I tried a few things, but without any real success. There's no soul there yet, so I can't communicate directly."

Kumoru glanced around a little, shivering as he added, "It still makes that presence in this room, though. Can you feel it?"

"Yeah... I thought there was just an air vent near here." She turned to look at Kumoru, not really knowing what to make of the lantern behind her. "So, what're you going to do when a kid shows up?" She asked curiously. "Somehow, I don't think this place is 'baby proofed'. Do you want me to help you clean it up? Anything giving off a cold aura like that would probably shred your tomes without a second thought."

"'Baby-proofed'?" Kumoru blinked. Clearly, he hadn't thought about this before. "I was planning on moving those books back to my library, if that's what you mean." He made a vague gesture to the stack in the corner. "The door to the library locks, so I'd be able to keep rowdy children out."

Chris laughed softly, shaking her head. "No, no that's not baby proofing. Just remember Murphy's Law: 'Anything that can go wrong will'." She looked around at Kumoru's house, giving a quiet 'hmmm'. "Well, books would need to get put in the library, and if you're adament about keeping things safe I would suggest baby security locks on any drawers with sharp objects in them. I had a little brother a few years ago, and he wrecks everything to this day."

"I'm sure I could seal drawers and such with magic," the mage said with a nod. He laughed weakly and looked down at his hand. "I guess I'm quite familiar with Murphy's Law at this point, though." He sighs. "But I think I'll be more at ease once the child appears. Hopefully I'll be able to communicate with it, at least."

Laughing quietly, Chris grinned. "Well, if you can't hack it, there's always a babysitter on hand to help out." She said with implication of herself. Looking to the books again. "Think I can help get everything organized around here before the Anima kid shows up? You said yourself there's always a risk of getting burried alive."

"I figure I'll probably have to learn to deal with the child, no matter what he or she is like. Thank you for the offer though; I might come to you if I need to regain my sanity."

He turned to the pile of books, then crouched down to pick them up. "And I was just joking about being burried, really," he added with a grin. "But then you never know..."

"Well, you do have a lot of books." Chris said with a chuckle, following Kumo to where he started picking up books and gathered an armfull herself. Glancing over the tittles curiously only to find she couldn't make out any of them. "Kumoru? Do you think there's really mythical animals like the ones in stories and fairytales? I mean, I wouldn't be saying something like that if I didn't believe in magics and the like, but no one in big cities or towns really believe in that sort of thing any more..."

The mage grunted a bit with the effort of lifting the stack of hard-cover books, and started up the stairs. "Follow me, library's up here..."

"Of course there are mythical creatures," he assured her, once his heavy stack was on the floor in his library, rather than the floor in his living room. "You see them sometimes if you travel a lot where I come from. Not often in the city, though. Few interesting other species frequent human cities, it seems..." Kumoru stepped closer to help Chris with the books she carried. "Need any help with those?

"Uh-uh." Chris set down the books on a desk before turning around to look at Kumoru. "Well... I thought I'd ask because I know I'd love to see those sorts of creatures one day. I want to make a living from my art, and what better way to breathe life into my drawings than with a figure to draw from?" She asked retorically, smiling at the thought. "I know I've always wanted to see a dragon ever since I was a little girl. I even asked my mom for a pet snake once because they look like Japanese dragons."

The mage plopped down on his desk chair, laughing a bit nervously as he flexed the fingers of his injured hand. "Eh, I knew a dragon for a little while. He was... an interesting fellow. Although perhaps the dragons where I come from are different from the dragons you might have in mind." He shrugged. "There seem to be endless varieties."

"You knew a dragon?" Chris asked curiously, taking a seat on the edge of the desk before taking off her backpack and setting it in front of her. Starting to search through it before pulling out a leather bound book thick with yellowed pages. "I found this in an old book store a long time ago. It's on the anatomy and classification of dragons... I thought it was just an imaginitive way to show how to draw dragons, but I suppose there might be some deeper meaning to it." She held it out to Kumoru to examine, shruging her shoulders. "I've read and photocopied the pages with pictures in them, you can have it if you'd like."

Frowning curiously, he took the book and paged through it slowly. "Interesting," he said, then looked up at her again and asked, "And I can have it? Thank you, it will make a helpful addition to my collection. I wonder what varieties of dragons it's about..."
