Sapheria smiled again, feeling even more nervous now then before. A small yawn made her relax, and her icy blue eyes looked down to see Recayr's own sleepy eyes start to open. Sapheria smiled deeply, shiftly the baby slightly in her arms so she could stroke Recayr's cheek. "Did you sleep well?" She smiled, not expecting an anwser. But she remembered her mother always asking that whenever she woke up.

Tion looked away from the mother and son to glance at his own. The boy who little resembled him had certainly changed. After all, her hadn't seen hide nor hair of him since... well, since he had left the boy's mother. He could remember that day so vividly...

Toran shifted uncomfortably. He did not want this man in his house. Tion had broken his mother's heart and then disappeared, and Toran had never forgiven him. After all, it wasn't her fault his son had had no bravery at such a young age that... He shook his head slightly, going to stand beside his wife. He was torn. Torn into halves between should and shouldn't. He had seen the quick glance the man had given towards his grandson, and knew exactly what was running through his mind. "Recayr was adopted by us, Tion." He couldn't bring himself to call him 'dad'. "And he won't be the last addition to our family." Don't say it, you moron. It's like lighting a fire around explosives, you idiot! "Sapheria and I have an appointment at a nearby clinic. We're going to have biological children, if it works."

Tion's eyes widened, his eyes looking between them. "You can't." He said bluntly, that gleam of hatred resurfacing. "There's no way, so shut your lying mouth."

Sapheria smiled at Toran, still eternally grateful to be even near him. Her smile faultered at Tion's words, and she felt in the back of her mind...anger? "Why... would he need to lie about something like that? It's true, anyway..." What was she doing? This was none of her business! But, Toran was her husband now. She wanted to know what would happen between the two of them, she wanted to be involved with his life.

To spite me, my dear girl. Tion's thought rang clearly throughout his mind, his eyes growing cold. He couldn't ask why, it was obvious. Two fools in love... "Toran... is not suitable for fatherhood. He never has been, and never will be. Even to give him an animal to watch after is a cruel thought." His words came out almost like a hiss.

"You can't prove that," Toran said, thinking back quickly. The justice system of Gaia couldn't prove he had no right in charge of another life, right? Even if so, he always had Sapheria.

Sapheria wanted to say so much more then what she said, but bit back her tongue before the situation turned more. Her eyes glittered with the unsaid things she wanted to say, yet held back. All she knew was she wanted this man out of their house.

Recayr's foxish ears twitched, before laying flat against his head. A whimper escaped him, as if sensing the tension in the air. Sapheria's eyes instantly shot down to Recayr, pulling the child closer to her and attempting to hide his head from what was going on with her hand.

Tion watched the two, and became aware that he had worn out his welcome. "Just watch. The boy takes after his old man in at least this one way: we don't deserve to handle the lives of others."

Toran glanced at his family, and decided it was time to show this jerk how much he had changed since childhood. He took a step forward, but Tion was already back out the door. He cast a glance over his shoulder, smirking in an amused manner that made Toran growl. It was over as suddenly as it had began, but somehow he felt that all traces of him would not be gone for a while.

Late, As Usual

Peace now washed over the area after night had fallen hours ago. It was well into the night, and everyone under the night sky was tucked into bed snugly as clocked tolled at Midnight. A soft breeze passed through, weaving itself between houses as clocks quieted down.

A soft crying from their fox son hit Sapheria's ears directly, waking her up from her peaceful slumber. Her icy blue eyes cracked open a bit to the darkness of Toran and her's bedroom, body not wanting to respond to movement. She blinked, reaching out to give Toran a soft shake. "...Toran? Can you go check on Recayr?"

Toran had been stuck between sleep and insomnia since they had come to bed, and he just as he about passed over the brink, something came between him and sleep. Cracking open an eye, he peered at his wife. "Sure thing." He whispered, slowly rolling out from beneath their blankets to the edge of the bed. He stood up on the floor, stretching his arms for a small yawn. He went to Recayr's room just a few feet away from theirs, walking through the room to his son.

That slumbering face... full of innocence... it almost made him forget what had happened the day he'd found him. Almost. Recayr shouldn't be hungry, seeing as he had eaten a little while ago. Toran picked up his son gently, wondering if he needed changing.

Sapheria smiled, listening as Toran left the room to check on their son. She sleepily lifted her head, then nestled into Toran's spot on the bed. Yay, so warm.

The fox boy whimpered, trying to cuddle into his father as he was picked up. The touch seemed to calm him, and Recayr quieted down. Perhaps, just a bad dream? Recayr snuggled, though his eyes remained open and blinking up at Toran.

No, he seemed fine. At the boy's affection, Toran couldn't help but smile at him. He held his son close, comforting him from whatever bad dream had been. He met his boy's eyes, feeling that promise he'd made to the little bugger all that while ago seemed to be fading slowly. "If I don't watch out," he smiled as he whispered, "I might get attached to you, buddy." He hugged his son gently, before asking quietly so his voice wouldn't carry, "You gonna be okay?"

Happiness sparkled in Recayr's eyes, reacting from the positive signs from his dad. He smiled and giggled, trying to reach up for him. The bad dream from moments ago seemed to vanish from his mind completely.

A loud, resonating knocking made itself apparent from the front door. Recayr whimpered at the loud noise, it hurt his ears. Too loud! The knocking paused for a moment, then started up again.

Toran, who had been painstakingly trying to keep from waking Sapheria if she had fallen back asleep, nearly leapt in the air and dropped Recayr at the pounding on the door. He steadied himself, putting the baby back in his crib. "Try to go to sleep," he said soothingly. "I'll come check on you before I go to bed." As if the baby understood. He went to their room and grabbed a shirt and sweat pants off the floor, tugging them on quickly. He didn't bother glancing at Saph, he just wanted the banging to stop.

He ran to the front door, placing his hand on the knob."Who's there?" He asked, trying to keep from sounding too angry with the person at the door. They could, always, be dangerous.

Recayr whimpered, watching his father leave. He whimpered again, and fell silent.

The pounding on the door paused, and ceased. "...Is this the Deadri household? Or, rather, is Sapheria living here?" The voice that came through the door was a young male's--most likely in his early-to-middle twenties. It was a curious tone, but it had a ragged tone; like he had been out of breath.

"Yes to both questions. Why?" He reached towards the lock on the door, waiting for an answer. This voice did not sound, to him, like someone meaning to harm, but he wasn't taking any chances. Not with Sapheria. He knew that, with whatever answer was given him, he was going to end up unlocking and opening the door. So, without any more hesitation, he twisted the lock and turned the knob, slowly opening the door.

The man let out a sigh, letting his head hit the doorframe. He was a somewhat tall man, maybe a foot taller then Sapheria; with bright blonde long hair that had been blown over his left shoulder and swirled around his neck. His bangs--or, what were his bangs--were a charcoal black in color. He watched the door slowly open with rich blue eyes, eyes that seemed to echo exasperation and a twinge of fatigue. The man dressed in a white tank top, dark grey belted pants, with a grey jacket snugged up against his fit body. A light grey ankh-like figure hung around the dark-colored band around his neck. Half of a smile lit on his face, one that seemed to cover up the emotions in his eyes.

"Well, to put it lightly, I'm Taka Reiga. Sapheria's older brother... and your Brother-in-law." The smile seemed to widen at that statement, and his eyes flickered.
