wow, melanie. that really sucks, but i'm glad that you've gotten into a better relationship now.
i plan to stay a virgin for a while...there's always the slim possiblity that i could become pregnant or get an std. i really don't want to die, and i'd rather not have to kill my baby. but i think i would. the information is definitely useful, regardless.
what's the difference between the different kinds of condoms? my friends and i were going to buy some just to have, and there were heat-sensitive condoms, flavoured condoms, lubricated condoms, extra-thin condoms...we ended up picking the ones with the prettiest picture.

let's see.... well, as far as i know, there are ribbed condoms that feel better for a girl, condoms with spermicide, condoms with this heating gel or menthol which makes you all tingly, colored condoms, flavored ones for giving oral, dental dams for giving oral to a girl which can come flavored or non-flavored.. i guess just try reading the box. for me a condom is condom. Durex is a good brand, so i've heard. i'm pretty gay so i don't really know about every single kind of condom because you know, i don't really use them.

I don't like the ribbed condoms, and I don't like durex. But hey that's just me. I'm sure that everyone's different.
I'm glad this thread is here. Not really for me personally, but just in a general way. *thumbs up*

Angel_of_Satan666 Okay, waht id otn understand is why its like okay and 'natural' for a guy to masterbate but as soon as its heard a gurk does it we're looked down upon.what the hell? You know what, I've noticed that too. I decided that it wouldn't stop from talking about it. I talked about it with my friends... who found it weird and were uncomfortable, but as time went on, they got more comfortable, and they can and do talk about it. We've come a long way when it comes to talking about our sexuality.

I'm a virgin and i dont want to do a guy until i know them well enough.
I think that school should teach other ways then waiting until marriage thing since many people in the class probably had done it.

I was fortunate enough to have some sex ed, apart from a biology course, but I think that it is something fundamental for youth to be able to come to terms with their sexuality.

Okaay.. from reading all the posts so far.. I really wanted to comment on a lot of them but I didn't want to kind of quote then post and quote and post over and over again. So this one will be a long one people..
First of all.. I remember reading this sex column in the newspaper where this guy had a too big of a p***s. He said that if you take an American 1 dollar bill.. and then take each end of it (the end with the shorter length) and then roll it so that the ends would touch eachother. He said that that was the width of his p***s. I was so shocked when reading that part that my v****a started to hurt thinking about it. I feel so bad for his girlfriend..
Second of all.. I hear that STDs has been changed to STIs which means Sexual Transmitted Infections and not diseases. It makes sense but in my opinion, STDs sounds and looks much better.
Third, I think I can only remember this one time that I had an orgasm.. since then, I've never been able to get one. Mind you, I'm still a virgin, but I do masterbate. There's nothing to be ashamed of in doing so. It's true though, ORGASMS ARE GREAT! Or in my case.. orgasm. sweatdrop
Fourth, I really want to shave it.. but I'd prefer to just.. wax it instead. Shaving just makes it thicker and messier and ugh, the trouble in keeping it squeaky clean. I was actually thinking about the whole guys giving oral and how they thought of hairy vaginas. I read this sex help column where this guy needed help on telling his girlfriend that she needs to clean it up. Some person replied that maybe he should give her this day spa package where waxing the pubes was included in it. I thought it was pretty funny.
Fifth, I agree that sex should be first introduced to kids in maybe.. grade 5 or 6? Then a bit more into detail the next year or something. Sex shouldn't be a topic where people hide from it. It should be known everywhere so that it can be safe.
I think that's all I want to say.. right now though, I'm going to check out those websites. This is a great thread by the way.. haha. :]

I wonder why they would be changing STDs to STI. Disease sounds for more serious than infection and the matter of STDs sould not be lightened in any way. I mean, not enough people take them seriously as it is.
I'm hearing alot about problems with sex education. Here in B.C (Canada) we start learning about sex very early. I got taught by a puppet in grade 3. It wasn't in great detail at that time, just how babies happen and where strangers shouldn't touch you. We started learning more about sex and about STDs in grade 7 and then every year till grade 11 in C.A.P.P

thanks for the info on condoms. i've never used one and hopefully won't for a while...i was just wondering.
pheno (is that an okay name?) - ouch. the width of a dollar bill? that kind of reminds me of sonny and lucy from the godfather.
i definitely prefer stds. a disease does sound more serious. a sexually transmitted infection makes it sound like you can get rid of it, which in some cases you can, but with diseases like hiv/aids and genital herpes, it's a lifelong illness.
they teach abstinence-only sex ed in alabama. i am strongly against abstinence-only sex ed. especially in the community where i live, everyone is super-conservative. some kids in my health class actually think god sent hurricane katrina to punish the sinful city of new orleans. but, getting back to the point, it's taboo not to believe in abstinence. on the first day of health class (it's required and a complete waste of my time), the teacher goes "i am required by state law to teach abstinence. but really, i don't see how any school can be so liberal as to teach that it's okay to have sex before you're married. that's just wrong." and i totally would have spoken up, gotten into a huge argument, and gotten sent to the counselor to pummel me into proper conservative shape if he'd noticed that i had something to say instead of continuing with his speech.

For example certain contagious skin irritations aren't diseases, but infections. The use of STI is to allow a more global understanding and treatment of everything related to sexually transmitted sickness in whatever form it comes in.
