(don't mind my random posts o_O; i have nothing better to do.)

Yakuti slipped back and forth between the den and looking for more prey..
So far she'd found three frogs.. a grasshopper, and a few beetles.. and that cub was STILL hungry. Then again she had eaten one of the frogs herself, all the running around had made her tired and hungry, mostly hungry. A full frog was quite a meal.. except for that lion cub.. she had never realized how much they eat.
So she was forced to travel farther than she wanted from her den, one last trip out then a nap and.. then she'd have to feed it again.

She looked up, giving a sigh of releif that it was finnally going to be nighttime. It would be easier to hunt once the desert sun had gone down. Maybe she'd be lucky and get a mouse or two?

((x.x Well, I'll join in, but I think that I won't be able to RP with you guys for long, since you're going on the hunt, and Kiu can't really join in. Ah well! I'll post anyway.))

Kiu was in a foul temper indeed. Jua. . . cubs. . . killed. . . he was so ashamed. She had deliberately allowed the bloodline to thin! He was furious, angry beyond words. When he was this angry, the massive red lion could only come to one conclusion. "I'm hungry," he muttered, pacing about while brooding. Vaguely, between all of the thoughts of Jua and her cubs, another thought slipped in to Kiu's mind. Today was an important hunt, the beasts were tired, and the catch would be good if luck was with them. And so, Kiu decided that he would search out Sumba and Waka. Fortunately, it did not take long for him to find them. He stumbled upon them by complete accident at the base of the cliffs.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, deciding to take his anger out on the lionesses, though they hadn't done anything wrong. (He was still angry about Jua's awful behavior). "Aren't you two supposed to be hunting with Walii?" Kiu knew of the loathing that the two sisters felt for Walii, but did not know that she had been left behind on the last hunt. He was, after all, a male, and was almost never involved in hunts. He only concerned himself with them at times like the present, when he was hungry and proceeded to yell at the lionesses for neglecting their duties. He did not speak to the cub at all. . . little rat of a thing, really. He didn't even remember her name, and sometimes forgot which of the sisters was her mother and which was her aunt. They had both practically raised her.

As she tailed the others keeping pace behind the other two in the hunting alignment, she continued on. Hearing the angered voice of a familiar a sarcastic grin painted itself on her maw and she easily wiped it uff before turning abruptly coming very close to the lion whom called upon them. Standing firm before him her slim frame etched among the fallen darkness hint of sarcastic bliss unable to be hidden in her orbs.

"Why,Kiu...how nice of you to check up on the hunt. I didn't know you would be interested until after we brought our catch to the pride. As it were we were just continuing on our way out to the hunt. Walii hasn't checked in for the group tonight..maybe she is having trouble on her own. If your curiosity betrays you once more then you can go assist her or you can wait for your share of the meal for when we return." Ending her notation with a slight bow and a quick turn she returned to Jifyo and nudged her along.

Nodding to herself at Sumba's words, Waka let the two passed before facing Kiu. "Walii is getting rather old, just like your father! I'm not saying her skills are lacking, but she does need a rest once in a while. Do you only think of yourself?" And to think, Kiu was the best of the royal children. Heh.

Waka had indeed heard about Jua, and giving an impish grin, she figured that was why the prince was in such a foul mood. "I heard about Jua, the hussy, and those b*****d children. King Makadari killed them and her, I presume? We can't have the bloodline being tainted." Giving yet another wicked grin, Waka continued. "Don't direct your anger toward my sister and I. We're not the future leaders of the pride, now are we? To think this could of all been prevented..." Letting the sentence hang, she flashed another grin, before turning around sharply, following the sound of Sumba's and Jifyos foot steeps. She had enjoyed that too much...

Exalla

The cub growled as it was set down on the rick, it's thin coat of ivory fur not thick enough to protect it from the hot surface. Mewing again, the cub tried hard to focus it's eyes on the soul that had set him here but instead caught a brief flash of gold behind the lion in front of him. He quited and tried to move on his flimsy feet but only suceeded on flopping on his stomach.

Taka's gaze was suddenly snagged to the cub's blank non existant stare. Is it blind, she thought to herself, questioning the notion as his roamed over Kitwana again. She was intrigued greatly by the cubs coloration and eyes but why would this lion do such a thing? Abandoning cubs high up in a mountain was not common among lions or any animal for that matter.

Taking a last glance at the tiny cub, Kitwana was surprised by an odd pang of feeling- guilt. But it was too late now, and he must leave, the pride would soon notice he was missing, and beat him soundly for the lost hours of service. Turning away from the little body now floundering on the rock, the slave's eyes flickered back for a moment, before locking straight ahead, and he began the trek back down the rocky terrain, back to the den of his masters.

Montsho moved as quickly as she could toward the southern borders, where they could rest in the Pridelands. These were unfamiliar lands and she knew that inorder to stay away from the lions who lived here she'd have to take a longer way. Spending what moments she could spare in the shade she pondered how she'd feed this thing, surely it'd crave milk something she couldn't provide. Hopefully once she got to the Pridelands easy to digest meat would be simple to find. The cub that lay limp in her jaws made not a sound but the occassional uncomfortable whimper, but even that was kept muffled. This was a reminder that she could make a very good hunter out of this one.

She was near the border where the throny bushes she'd fought through the first time impeded her path. The cub would not be happy about this, but safety rested on the other side. Montsho slunk down and emerged from the shadow crossing to the open area near the border.

Taka slowly neared the cub, watching Kitwana leave and only heightening the her feeling about those bloody lions. She stared at the ivory cub from a distance, watching him with bright green eyes while he watched her with his non existant ones.

The cub gave a doubtful mewl of curiousity, trying to move off the rock and toward the figure in his blurred vision, accidently knocking a rock off and creating a very loud noise as it clanked off other rocks.

After some hours of crawling and shuffling through Montsho and the tiny black cub emerged essentially unharmed. The tiny cub had received a small cut on the side of it's body that it had cryed about for sometime and Montsho's muzzle had looked better, but in her opinion these were tiny meaningless wounds. They had left the Firekin lands and were safely in the Pridelands, a place she knew better than the harsh terrain she'd just come from.

“Good hunting,” he called after the pair in a low growl, “for your sake, rather than mine. I’m hungry, and you wouldn’t want me to take out my anger on you if my hunger is not appeased.” As he watched them go, Kiu began to pace. He had to think. Sumba and Waka had certainly been more insulting than usual. . . mouthing off to a royal heir! They had insulted Jua. . . that wasn’t so bad. What little love he had once had for her in his stone cold heart was gone. She had betrayed them. She had tainted the bloodline. She had deserved to die, the great fool. The insult directed at his father had missed its mark as well. Kiu cared little for him. They were right. . . Makadari WAS getting old. However, something did bother Kiu about the conversation he had just had with the trio. They now believed that they could insult a member of the royal family! Something had to be done.

Kiu had a problem. Respect for the royal family was rapidly declining. The other lions did not respect him as an heir, and his father was getting on in years. Soon, he would be too old to command respect. He would have to think of a way to show the rest of the pride his own ferocity and dominance. Beating up on slaves would not impress them. They all did that? Defending the borders? No, they would just make snide comments about him lowering himself to slave’s work or something. Or they would say that he was inadequate for the job. . . He had to form a plan! And then, he had it. He would try and kill his father. After all, Makadari was getting too old to rule. It was his right, it was his duty, to make sure that the Firekin pride respected their new leader! The death of his father would make it clear to the other lions that he was no weakling! It was perfect! And then, he could rule.

Now, he just needed to think of a way to do it. A way that would ensure his success. A way that would not involve risk to his own person, and would be extremely likely to work.

Leading her sister and cub into the silent darkness she thought to herself. Obviously not to harsh on the young heir. They had been much more leanient to his complaining had to anyone else there would be no tolerance. Assuming it had left no grief between the three she continued her thoughts towards the hunt. She could sence her sister going over the same thoughts about their desicion. She hadn't really intended such a conversation infront of Jifyo but felt she would need to start learning. Ugh, her mind had betrayed her again.

She stopped slightly before bounding up to the highest point of a nearby stone and traced the air locating the nearest herd. Had it been windy it would have been easier but locating what she yearned for she leaped down to the three and awaited planning.

As Taka reassured herself that Kitwana was gone, she slunk over to the cub and siezed him by the white scruff of his neck. Slwoly, she made her way off the mountain. She sighed and thought how worn her claws were going to be after this. The cub mewed desperately still shaken by it's rude awakening and now the lack of nourishment. It's cries had changed form simple confused fear to painful turning Taka's motherly instincts on quickly.

As she took the last step off the mountain side an idea hit her. Perhaps she could find another animal, even not of her kind, and feed the cubs it's milk. There wasn't much of a difference between different species milk was there? She continued trotting away from where she last saw Kitwana headed and toward the watering hole. She needed a drink to clear her head after all this.

Yakuti slunk around in the dark, trying for some mice.
'aha theres one!' she crouched down behind the rock watching the tiny mouse eat some seeds.. wait for it.. wait.. now!
she jumped over the rock pouncing the unsuspecting mouse.
Unfortunutly she aimed wrong and grabed only its tail thus giving it a chance to run.. ofcourse the mouse took it as it was not insane.. which in turn made her give chase. Yay she was chasing a mouse.

The cub meanwhile was back safe in the den curled up making a soft noise.. hm purring? naw.. couldn't be. what an odd litter Jua has had.. white black and tan cubs, yay for varity.
The cub shivered, the cold of the desert night was starting to seep hrough teh den's entrance.. and he was starting to miss his warm brothers and sisters.. though he had only been near them a few moments before getting rudly thrown away..

((Erk. I need to RP here more... ^^; ))

The young lioness cub cried into her mother's dead pelt. Not only was she starving, but almost all of her siblings had been taken away by big scary things! She had hid then, not knowing what to do, and by the time she thought it was safe to come out one of her siblings would be gone. It wasn't fair! She just wanted to have her brothers, sister and mother with her. Was that too much to ask? Still crying, but much more hushed, she pushed herself underneath one of her mother's front paws and lay down. She nuzzled the older lioness's cold chest, and fell into a shallow sleep.

Gou trotted around the rock cropping, grumbling to herself about strange goddesses and crazy firekin members. The caracal was a wanderer, who'd seen almost everything in all of the lands. She'd been heading for one of her many havens, which was in the jungle northeast of the desert. The quickest way was cutting through the dunes that were the firekin lands, but Gou didn't mind very much. Food and water was scarse, and she'd have to look out for any of the Firekin, but her pelt helped her blend into the sand. Not to mention that she had made this journey many times in the past. So why was she the one to get forced here to save an abandoned cub? All she was told was to pick up the reddish lioness cub at the rock croppings and stay away from the firekin by a kooky goddess. Not that avoiding the firekin was a problem... But a cub?! She didn't even know how to take care of a caracal cub, let alone a lion!

Looking around the rocks for a while under the full moon, Gou finally managed to find the dead lioness and the cubs with her. Picking up the reddish one like ordered, she snorted and stalked off, completely ignoring the corpse, the cub left behind, or the wiggling that the cub in her mouth was making. She went over sand dunes thinking of three things: Food for herself, food for her new charge, and shelter. She'd give her prayers to the dead mother later.

The young cub wiggled in the other cat's mouth. She whined pitfully, wanting to go back to her mother and sister, even though she knew that she would probably die if she did. She was so hungry... And so tired... Without even realising it, she fell asleep in the jaws of the animal that carried her, falling limp and lightly sleeping under the moon's bathing light.

Slinking back across the sand dunes, Kitwana moved swiftly, wishing to get back before more resentment could be stirred against him for staying out of the way of the pride for so long. Eyes trained straight ahead, head down, and shoulders slumped, the adolescent attempted to banish the regrets of guilt now playing on his mind. He did not wish to think of the cub's fate in such terrain, and instead trained his mind to search for sounds of prey, ears swivelling at any slight movement around him.

Yakuti blinked ears swivling upwards she suddenly lost track of the mouse looking over the dead tree that was providing shelter to her previous prey. She quickly slouched down seeing Kitwana, a lion, scary lion. biiig scary lion.
crouching down low to the ground she atempted to slink back to her den. Then again.. that little cub back in ehr den was going to grow up to be a big scary lion..
