ExLenne So yes, as a part of the Fushigi Y?agic I had no choice but to love it in one way, but as an OVA it sucked. 3nodding (And since this is my first post since being accepted...HEYO! xp ) *claps* I couldn't have put it better myself! Although, it pains me to say it the only part I liked about FY was the extra attention Tas and Chiri got. Over all, I prefer to murder the producers rather than employ my fangirl wrath against the actual characters. xp
(WELCOME FELLOW FANGIRL!!! blaugh blaugh blaugh )

Well, when I watched Eikoden for the first time I was kind of annoyed at the fact Mayo was so jealous up to that point... It as kind of disgusting to me.
It also kind of lacked in plot a bit, but the part about Nuriko and Hotohori was so kawaii. whee
Overrall, even though I do not have a long explanation of my thoughts, I think Eikoden was okay, but not the best.

The Suzaku Senshi... chibi. Come on guys, who wouldn't want to see that?
I am apparently another Mayo hater. W00t. The problem with Eikoden, we all suppose, is that Mayo, this random Tamahome-fangirl, takes place of the main character, when we all suspected it would be Miaka. And of course, Miaka deserved it, because she is the more popular priestess. (If you don't mind my saying.)
Yuu Watase slayed poor Fushigi Yuugi. With Eikoden's lack of Seiryuu, Genbu, or Byakko (really, a second of CG art that was fairly all right doesn't count), Eikoden was through to the dogs. Or Mayo. Either one. It's the same. biggrin

Sorry, I didn't even know I was wearing "your" outfit, because technically don't all Gung Xi sets look the same? Unless your talking of when I still had my Kitsune Mask.

For Shame..I have not left my marj here...ever/....at all...so I must do so now!
Eikoden...I was not impressed...Very let down...I must agree with all those standing against it. In theory it COULD have been good...but a: It wasn't and B: Probably couldn't be good anyway.

Chibi_Seiryuu I loved it...sad that Yu didnt do it I may have said this already, but if not..I'm saying it now. Conceptually...it had potential. Part of it would be the rush through it, if it had more episodes, they could have done more...stuff like that. Overall...the story could have sused some work too.

Well I'm mixed in my opinion, I think it was stupid to add the 3-D as it would've looked so much better if it was just all animated but I guess that was an attempt to join the modern world or something. I found it too short though I know OAVs aren't styled to be long but I thought they filled quite a bit into four episodes. I read that based on a lot of fanmail of ppl saying they wanted to be the Suzaku miko and were jealous of Miaka helped create Mayo. So I think Mayo is meant to be the viewers who wished they could be a miko but personally, she was just irritating, too spiteful, overreactive and outright nasty. I know we're meant to feel pity for her because of her parents always fighting and I know she turns out good in the end but I found it impossible to really feel much sympathy for her, stealing Miaka's baby and claiming its hers was a bit too far. However, it was great to see Tasuki and Chichiri again, esp Tasuki who looked very cool older! I found a manga pic from Eikoden with him and Kouji and they looked great! It was also amusing to see all the characters reborn! So overall I didn't hate it but I didn't overly enjoy it.

That is however an interesting veiw on Mayo etc...never thought about it that way...but then..I never was jealous of Maiaka...so logically..I wouldnt. XD I had mixed feelings about the rebirthings. Oh well.

Wow a lot of hate in this thread. Ok, here's a new viewpoint.
Animation: The regular animation was just fine. The bishness that is was beyond belief and I could have passed out from sheer joy (yes, I am a shameless fangirl. Deal with it). The CG would have been nice if it was all CG. Of course this wasn't the case. Yet the CG gods were all false gods. Perhaps they were done in CG to emphasize the wrongness of their existence. If that was the case than I say the CG was used well.
VA Work: "You know?" "You know?" ARGH! Ya don't mess with the "No da" no da!!!! scream Ok, that aside. It was a little difficult listening the Chichiri and Tasuki at first. I expected them both to sound a lot different then they did. I thought Tasuki would be a bit gruffer and Chichiri like a wise man. Instead Tasuki sounded like the brainless dips at my school and Chichiri sounded like a cheerleader. Granted this was my initial impression. As I continued to watch I got used to their voices and by the end of it liked them both thouroughly. May I just say that I was glad that Miaka was out for most of the show? I really can't stand her voice. It could peel wall paper. As for everyone else, I loved them all and have no complaints.
Story: Really Eikoden had a lot of potential to be a great well thought up and drawn out series. Instead it was similar to crashing into a wall. The story was rushed way too fast, Mayo was underdeveloped, and the resolution was too hurried for their to be any satisfaction. In all, I'd rather have seen this be a 26 ep series instead of a crash through 4 eps.
Characters: Well, everybody from the original series is loved. But what about Mayo? Sure, she's Mary Sue incarnate, but I can't say I have the rabid hate for her that others have expressed, but I can't say that I like her all that much either. Stealing someone elses baby is just a bit too extreme and then trying to kill yourself when the guy you love specifically told you to protect the baby (which means protect yourself too nimrod!) is not the way to go. In conclusion for Mayo: She was a faulty character, yes, she did the wrong things, yes, but she was redeemed in the end by the grace of everyone else being forgiving her thus, I don't mind her all that much. Now for the little reincarnations. They were so cute! But it was really creepy to see baby Chiriko talking like older Chiriko and same goes for Mitsukake. I loved seeing how Tasuki interacted with the reincarnations, it was so cute! He'd be a good dad too. Also the part where Hotohori was reunited with his family was absolutely priceless. One little problem I had was this: will the reincarnations go back to being who they are now or will they continue to be who they were? That could have been explained a bit better. Also to the complaint about Nuriko being reincarnated as a girl, I thought it worked perfectly. Why? Because I do so there blaugh .
Final Analysis: Could have been better, but I'll take what was given.

I don't think i could say that much about the Eikoden unless my life depended on it. I have to agree with you on the conceptual possibilities...but most of the rest...I just can't see it..even trying to see it in the light you propose... sweatdrop Maybe it's just me.
