A sudden smile graced her muzzle as she gazed up at him. It warmed her eyes and made her glow like moonlight on water. "You are a very gentle soul, Zaphiro. It is a shame so few mares have seen it." She sighed in a more relaxed manner and closed her eyes just as moonlight touched Zaphiro's pricked ears.
It seemed only a moment later when she felt Mystre stir beside her. Her eyes flew open to the bramble glade brightly lit with sunshine. And there was the winged stallion, standing a quiet guard over her and her friend. She gave him another dazzling smile before turning her attention to the waking wolf.
He opened his eyes slowly, bit by bit, and was happy to be greeted with the sight of a hale and healthy T'Cora, safe and sound and with a smile on her face. He gave a silent whine of pleasure and touched his damp nose to her muzzle. He chuckled mentally as she nosed him and told him to get up. "All right, hold your unicorns," he replied in good humor. Stiffly he clambered to his paws, muscles tight and sore from the day before. The white wolf smiled to himself as the mare watched him critcally. It was just for her that he stretched, then rolled the shoulder that had been pierced the day before. It sitll hurt just faintly, but it worked properly. Unicorn magic never failed, so long as both believed.
It was only then that he turned his attention to their companion. He stood for a moment, tail still, eyeing the stallion intently, as if gauging him. After a moment, he padded slowly to stand directly in front of the blue and gold soquili, and looked directly into his eyes. He knew that Zaphiro would not hear him, but he asked politely anyway. "Who are you? And why did you help us?"
T'Cora rose gracefully from the ground, shivering her swirled hide to free it of debri. Her heart was rejoicing to see Mystre moving well again, with only a trace of soreness in his movements. "I am sorry, I must have fallen asleep," she began to apologize to the stallion when the wolf suddenly made his inquiry while staring into the stallion's eyes. "Ah... he wants to know who you are, and why you helped us." She related it as directly as possible and did not provide the wolf with the answers he sought. Mystre was not asking her, after all. Just because he was mute did not mean he was deaf, and he deserved to hear the answers from Zaphiro himself. So she respectfully fell silent, waiting for the conversatoin between the males to continue. She'd willing be a translator for Mystre, but nothing more. This was their communication, not hers.

Throughout the night, Zaphiro had maintained a constant state of wakefullness, alert to any sounds that might indicate the safety of their hideout had been compromised. Peridically he had paced about the little clearing, and once he had even slithered out to scope out the surrounding woodland. However, all had been peaceful, both within the glade and outside.
However, he was glad when morning finally arrived. Sleep was something he could periodically go without, but he just felt more alive when the sun was shining down. Vigils seemed to last twice as long when they were in darkness...
Still, he'd gotten so used to the silence and stillness that it was almost a shocking experience when T'Cora and Mystre finally came to, particularly when the wolf got up and fixed him in an extremely intense look. It was a little unnerving to not know what was being directed at you, and consequently he was exceedingly grateful when T'Cora filled him in.
"No apologies, T'Cora; yesterday had to have been trying for you, and a bit of sleep is good in circumstances like that. And to answer your question, friend Mystre," Here he turned to face the white wolf, inclining his head slightly in a gesture of polite recognition. "My name is Zaphiro, and I helped because it was the right thing to do. Had virtually any other stallion of merit been about, I'm sure that he would have acted in the same manner as I myself. Though I am pleased to see you doing better this morning than you seemed to be yesterday, and hopefully your condition continues to improve."

T'Cora decided that Zaphiro was a rather gracious soquili, and worthy of friendship at the very least. Still, it was a welcome thing to hear his repsonse after wriggling out to survey the area. All was clear, and she could return to her beloved ocean. She now realized she was simply too far from it's protective presence. She couldn't explain it, but it was as if the ocean depths held her as one of its secrets, guarding her jealously from such evils as had wounded her dear Mystre.
She inched her way out of the bramble thicket to stand beneath the dappled sunshine and raise her face to the wind. It told her the sea waited for her, impatiently as always. It was time to go home.
"Thank you again," she said, turning to face the blue stallion. "Without you we would have been lost." She knelt in a deep curtsey to him. "Feel free to call on us for any rason, at any time. We are in your debt." Beside her, she caught sight of Mystre also stretching his forepaws out and bowing low. She knew he was still reserving judgment on the stallion, but he at least wasn't displeased with how the other had conducted himself. That silly wolf could be so much like a stuffy mother sometimes!
"Until we meet again," she bobbed her head once more and then turned her nose gratefully towards the ocean, her hooves soon beating a steady and swift path to the west.
