Hey, what about Iowa? I live in east-central Iowa, between Dubuque and Davenport. At State Large Group Contest yesterday, our band played a grade 5 piece, and we got a 39!!!!!!!!!!!!!

writerserenyty Oh, I was thinking of trying out for All-State, but I think I'm too young (sophomore in HS). We worked on the etude in band. You're right. It was INSANE. So hard!!! Any Minnesotans going to State Solo/Ensemble Contest? I'm going for a duet and a solo. You're not too young! eek I'm in 10th grade, or was when I tried out; schools about to start again, you know...on to 11 grade!

Look at them squirm like worms in mud, Blaming a ghost who's flesh and blood. Crossing the line, tossing the dice, Making decisions and paying the price. I NOW HATE THE ISSMA REGIONAL JUDGES.

We won a bunch of trophies at Music in the Parks in St. Louis that same year...I think it was 2006? But yeah, we went to Superstate and Music in the Parks on the same trip.

OK, well the West Aurora Middle School bands are actually the bestest in the state...just ask our 26 or 27 first place overall in division trophies...yes, I'm kinda cocky about our band, but that's just because...WE RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The West Aurora Middle School Bands are decent, but I much prefer the the West Aurora High School Wind Symphony, the band I play in. If all the high school bands in the U.S. were ranked from best to worst. we'd be within the top 5%.
And by the way, it's not too hard to win Music in the Parks in St. Louis. I played for JMSB in 2005, and we easily took first place.
Man, I can't wait for Midwest tomorrow!!!

I noticed that there were a couple of south eastern michiganders here. I'm from that area too. Chelsea to be exact, we host the State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Along with Band and Orchestra Festival for both Middle and High school level for Washtenaw county. One of two schools that hosts, i believe our rival and neighbor Dexter is the other one.

Didn't your marching show this year involve Edger Allen Poe's The Raven? I'm from the Andover Marching Huskies. Your guys' shows are always really cool.

I'm in Toledo, at Southview high school. ^_^ Our marching band sucks, and doesn't compete, but our symphonic band is amazing. It won't be next year though, band director is retiring. =[ But we're playing at the OMEA state conference thing in February. Anyone else gunna be there? And more Q's... Does anyone compete in anything OMEA district 1? For solo/ensemble I'm in a horn quartet. ^^ Also, does anyone's band compete in AA? P.S. Sierramist66 I noticed that there were a couple of south eastern michiganders here. I'm from that area too. Chelsea to be exact, we host the State Solo and Ensemble Festival. My German teacher is from Dexter. xP
