"I'm in a rut here, lad, Y'gotta understand!" He hissed in a heated whisper, "If y'take a waterbottle an' fill it wit' vodka, no one can see th'difference... I'm bein' tortured an' it aint righ'... jes' a wee sip fer a sad shell o' a man, Gaius, brother-" A tentacle had slid around the human man's hand, grasping it tightly to emphasize his desperate situation.

Gaius cringed at the tentacle touch, pulling it away slightly to no avail. "I-I dunno... It's not right they've turned you into this, but... C-Can't you get drinks by yourself? I mean, I could roll down you there if you have trouble traveling..." The man was crazy, that much he was certain. Crazy and obviously an alcoholic. And he had a tight grip on Gaius's arm, which only served to make him all the more uncomfortable.

"They won' let me," Billy hissed angrilly, "Not a cigarette, no' drink nor sniff nor nothin'! Please... it aint hurtin' no one, no one'll know. Believe me, I know how t'do this. Y'won't get caught an' I'll jes' get th'buzz if anythin'! C'mone, please? I'll wait here fer ye!"

He was going to protest again when a sudden flash of idea struck. His eyes shot around for any sign of cameras, then back at Billy, and he leaned closer to speak in a hushed tone. "Listen... I'll get you some drinks, okay? A supply... but I'm going to keep the empty bottles. The thing is... I need a safe place to store them, out of sight from watching eyes..."

"I can hide bottles no problem," Billy raised another tentacle to join the first, his face lighting up with devious excitement. "Aint no underwater cameras- jes' leave them under a marked rock up th'river a ways. Then it aint too obvious! It can be our drop point," This was more familiar. This Billy knew. They were striking a deal. Get things moved, get things out, get things done. Get things drank, get things dimmed, get things gone. His cheak twitched again and he waited for Gaius's conclusion.

Gaius's head twitched in the slight movement of a nod, ever cautious of what the cameras observed. His gripped hand twitched, feeling the brush of suction cups sliding over it. Every instinct told him this character was bad news, but he ignored it.

"Right. A marked rock... Nothing obvious. I'll leave waterbottles of vodka and the empty bottles there for you to pick up." A small smile twitched at the corner of his mouth. "We both benefit, and hopefully others by the end."

"Two plus two equals four, right?" The octopus laughed and finally let go, looking extatic- someone finally agreed to help! "I'll pick up t'night a' midnight."

"Uh, right..." Gaius smiled wincingly, having no clue what the octopus was babbling about. "Then, if that's settled..." He stood back up, relieved to finally be free of the clinging grip. "And just so I know... what's your name?"

"William," He said, "Call me Billy," He said. "Thank you!" He nearly cried. Too long, it had been too long- he should have been better than this. He could have found a solution long ago- this would work. It was going to work and oh sweet Lord, he'd sleep soundly for the first time in months. If ever there was a man who needed a drink, it was William Woodrow.

"Billy," he repeated. "I'll remember that."

The man's exclamation and change in attitude touched Gaius, softening some of his dislike of the fellow. Sure, he was a rough guy, but it wasn't his fault. He didn't like the guy, but he wasn't going to hold the harsh exchange against him.

Gaius only hoped he could get out of there before he ended up like Billy.

Giving the octopus-man a tip of the head and two-finger salute, Gaius grinned and turned to start back towards the village. "Thanks for the help!"

"No, thank YOU!" Billy reiterated, turning his chair to watch Gaius go. Tonight. Tonight tonight tonight. He could wait. He could wait.
