Shane shrugged his shoulders and waved off what the girl said, "Bah, girly, every one's got some interesting tale hiding in the wings, you've only got to bring it out. Trust this irish man, we irish know stories well." Grinning broadly, he motioned for her to start.
"You're not like every other girl out there, I've met them, and they can't shuffle cards like you can, when'd you start learning that?" He'd coax a story out of her yet. It was something he was talented at.

Moira smirked at Shane and rolled her eyes at him. "I know what you're doing, Irishman." She waved her hand at him, amused. "You're trying to coax a story out of me, aren't you!" She accused playfully, grinning.
"I started learning when I was a kid, to answer your question." She said after a minute, thinking. "My padre taught me." She was trying to think of something to tell Shane, and then grinned. "I was a little girl, y'see." She began. "And we didn't live in the city, we lived out away from it because it was safer." She shrugged.
"So, naturally, I didn't have many friends. One night, my padre had his friends come over, and they played cards." She grinned a little at the memory. "There was this one man, Emil, who taught me how to play with cards." She held the deck up. "This was his deck, and he gave it to me when I started to play with cards." She snorted. "He tried to teach me how to play, but... I was eight. I didn't have a very vivid attention span." She grinned sheepishly.
"So there." Moi smirked. "There's your tale."

Sighing audibly, Eponine shook her head. "More humans," she said softly. "I guess we won't be the only ones here," she said, grimacing slightly.
Then she put on a pleasant smile, although it did seem rather cracked at the edges. "I'm...Eponine," she said to the woman in the green dress, although she did not take her hand.

Shane grinned bemused at the lady's story. Knew she had it in her. "Twasn't that hard was it? Though I'll admit you caught me, but I still got me story anyway!" Stretching his arm behind his back he rolled his neck a bit. Sleeping the previous night hadn't went well at all.
Catching Eponine's muttered words, Shane reminded himself to ask her the meaning of them later on. Feeling that the girl wasn't about to let on more about herself, Shane cut in slightly, "Eponine's french."
And it seemed she didn't really want to talk. Which wasn't much of a change for her except when she was asking questions. Mentally noting down in his head, Track down Eponine later. He turned his attention back to Moira, "Well, if you ever want to learn for fun, you let me know alright?"

Moira grinned a little and shook her head, a faint flush coming onto her face. She watched Eponine, and frowned a little, then shrugged it off mentally. If she wasn't exactly social, who was Moira to suspect her of anything?
Other than a LOTUS agent, of course. But she was one, too. She must've been trustworthy. With a slight smile to Eponine, she returned her attention to the Irishman in front of her. "I see." She grinned a little, and looked at the deck. She glanced up and smirked a little, holding the deck out. "Why not right now?"
What could it hurt, right?

"Alright then!" Shane exclaimed, and gingerly took the cards form Moira. Unsure of whether the girl was capable of stacking the deck and was just play coy, he shuffled the cards a bit himself, not with the same ease as her, but well enough. "Okay, the game will be five card stud."
Easily he dealt her and him five cards off the top of the deck before setting it down. "Now, do you know any of the hands or are you green as grass as far as that goes? Doesn't matter if you are, I've a fair hand at teaching 'em." He glanced at his own cards and winced on the inside, not the best thing, but hey maybe she'd win and then it would be all the better. "I'm gonna teach as you would play if there were betting, though we've got nothing to bet."

She blinked when he'd proclaimed they'd play five card stud, and internally winced. What the hell was five card stud? She looked at her cards with a frown, and glanced up. "I... have no idea how to play the game, or the hands." She admitted with a sheepish grin.
"Alright." She nodded a little, and stared at her hand. "Teach on, Irishman." She urged, grinning a little at him.

Feeling a bit embarassed, Shane winced, "ah right, well then, we'll start from the bottom and work our way up." Moving so that he was more next to her than across, he showed her his hand, the ace of clubs, the two of hearts, the king of hearts, the five of spades, and the 7 of diamonds . "We're both dealt five cards to form our hands. I'm sure you know this, but the cards are seperated into four suits, aces, diamonds, clubs, and hearts. In this game the ace can be either high or low. Meaning that it can be the one higher than a king and the one lower than a two." He gestured with his cards moving his ace before the two and then after the king. "But it can't go King, Ace, Two, that's not allowed."
He looked toward her to make sure she was getting it all, "Have you got it?"

Moira listened intently, frowning a little as she listened, and then nodded to him. "Got it. So..." She frowned at her hand, and looked at his, then hers again. "The ace can be lower than two, and higher than five, but not both, right?" She looked at him, blinking. "... Wait." She just confused herself.
"... Nevermind, I got it." Moira grinned sheepishly at him, rubbing her neck with her free hand.

Shane laughed jovially at her flub, it wasn't in a mean way, just and amused at the situation way. "Right." He went through the steps of explaining to her what hand beat what hand and how if hands were the same the 'kicker' would determine the winner. Not sure if she actually got all of it, he looked back at her to make sure, "Am I going to fast?"
Noticing that they were a little closer than he thought, he scooted back a half foot. Wouldn't want her scared. "Do you want to play a quick hand or do you need me to go over anything?"

For the duration of his explaining, Moira intently watched him, or her cards, or his cards as he explained. She didn't seem to notice the distance they'd shrunk between them, too intent on learning the game. It'd be a clever way to pass the time.
She looked up when he scooted back, and smiled a little at him, then looked at her cards. She grinned a little. "I got it." She replied, picking up the deck of cards. She put her cards in, and held her hand out for his. "I'd like to try playing, now that you explained it. I can shuffle." She grinned at him.

Handing her his cards, he hoped he'd done well by her. It'd been a while since he'd done anything like that. "Alright then, you play dealer lass, and we'll see how well I've taught you." Dear god let it be well... Man had to have his pride somewhere didn't he?
Moving back so they were across from each other he stared at her hands waiting for the mesmerising dance of the cards again. Sure and it made him dizzy, but he'd be damned if it wasn't fascinating. "Someday when you've had some more practice we'll wager things, not money or the like, but... food or something." He finished lamely.

She grinned a little, and took his cards, sliding them into the deck smoothly. She began to shuffle quickly, a short dance compared to the extensive shuffling she'd done before. She dealt them both five cards a piece, and set the deck down, picking up her cards.
She glanced at him and grinned. "Sure." She replied, amused. "When I get better, of course." Moira tipped her head, and eyed her cards carefully, then looked at him with a grin. Let the games begin.

All kidding aside, he picked up his cards and examined them. Not a bad hand... could be better, but double infinities with a king kicker wasn't bad. (That means a pair of 8's) Sticking his tongue in his cheek, he laid his two bad cards down. "Two please miss dealer ma'm." He chided.
Keep it up Shane my boy, just watch when she wipes the floor with you... Of course you can always just play it off as if you let her win. But some girls hate that... damn, why do they have to be so fickle... His eyes flicked to hers to try and get some grasp on her hand.

She looked up when he'd laid the two cards down, and picked two up from the deck, holding them out face down. Her own hand was surprising, a pair of twos, two kings, and an ace. She bit her lower lip thoughtfully, remembering what she was told and also remembering that this was a guy. A cute guy. Who probably had a very large ego.
If she won, she'd play it off as luck. Moira glanced up at him and grinned a little, then looked at her cards again. She kept her cards, and glanced up at him with a slight nod.
