Ok..I've got a question. I'm noticiing that I'm starting to become real tense in my shoulders and it's making fighting kinda difficult. I've had the same prblem before, but it just went away after a couple days. I've now had it foor a couple weeks. Is there a certain stretch or somthing to relax the shoulders?

tension in the shoulders usually comes from some form of stress, but here's a few things you might want to try...

this is more of stretching for the entire neck/shoulders area. we do this every session during our stretching segment...
with your hands at your sides, tilt your head to the left and try to touch your left ear to your left shoulder. hold for a 5 count. repeat with the right side.
then roll your head counter clockwise once, then clockwise once. repeat 5 times each way. lean your head forward, trying to touch your chin to your chest. hold for a 5 count, then repeat leaning your head as far back as you can. then do the head roll again..

also, while you're sparring, it's always a good idea to stay loose. especially in the shoulders, as you've already noticed. one thing you can try to do is empty your mind. I know this sounds a little on the metaphorical side, but try not to think about anything else except you and your opponent. extraneous thoughts lead to distraction, which can add to the stress that you're feeling.

also, concentrate on your breathing. that usually helps. try to focus on breathing in through your mouth, then out through your nose...the same way you'd do as if you were doing some forms of meditation.

hope that helps.

As you can see, I'm from another Guild, but never-the-less, I have a question to the rest of you.

What is the mass opinion of fraudulent martial artist and self-proclaimed "ninja master", Ashida Kim?

I'm not usually up on my bullshido. I tend to try to stay away from it as much as possible, but curiosity got the better of me and I did a google search on this ashida kim.

from what I've read, I can't really see anyone being really fooled by this chris hunter person because I've seen a few pages that said ashida kim and chris hunter are in fact the same person.

some glaring things I've noticed.
firstly, he spells it ninjutsu instead of ninjitsu. now, this might be some sort of mixup in translation, but that's just the first thing.
also, there's the whole copyright thing. supposedly mr. hunter's been sued on atleast one occassion for selling bootleg copies of other people's works.
I've also seen multiple contradictions on various forums about this person proclaiming the modesty and actions speak louder than words mantra only to contradict himself by cursing out others and a bunch of other shady activities..

and for someone with a supposedly japanese heritage, why does he have a korean surname?

confused
I can link to various websites if anyone would like to read a little more on this supposed ninja master.

That's one opinion of him, any others?

Oh btw, the white man with the sword in my banner is Ashida Kim

Pretty much the only caucasian ninjitsu practitioner that I'm aware of that has his credentials in order is Steven Hayes. Unless this guy trained with Hayes, there's a real good chance he's full of it.

well this is kind of a question on the guild here. I'm sorry I haven't been posting very much, but this is just a suggestion....why don't we have an rp topic? It would attract more people and we could have fun applying our knowlage of martial arts in descriptive terms.

I like that idea. one thing though, if we do something like that, maybe we should charge them so it can help our guild out. Or not. sweatdrop , but I like that idea, what's everyones opinion on this.

I doesn't like the idea. This guild is to discuss martial arts, not to role play with 'em. neutral I dunno. I just don't like it.

ya, I'm not really into the whole RP thing just because it really deviates from the whole point of this guild. there's plenty of RP guilds and I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to find one that deals with martial arts.

sorry, kiara.

You know the second we started an RP, some jackass with two months actual training under his belt would slip in and try to use whacked out attacks in the story. They'd say "hado-ken" and I'd ban his a** right there on general principle.

really depends. I haven't found an all around site but I've found some interesting sites if you're looking for more specific stuff.

"tricks"
decent all around site
decent place for gear
bullshido.com - name speaks for itself.

err. will keep digging for ya.
