"The state of the arrival stable is dreadful sometimes, and I imagine the doctor would be grateful and possibly more fond of you if you would assist with that. Along with those other sorts of things that people should be doing but claim to not have the time for."
"With bindings that don't snap at a sneeze, for just a start." Her finger idly scratches her cheek in thought, an eyebrow half-lifted. "There's also controlling your voice, and those little habits of yours you seem to have trouble suppressing. You might also want to develop more interest in women, as well."

Bridgit stared. "You want me to do...other peoples chores....And, dirty work?" She fumed silently. Of course, what did she expect?
"It wasn't just the sneeze," she muttered crossly. "What habits?" she asked, then turned red again. "W-what? Women? But...how many women could there possibly be on this island?" She eyed Alva and took a step back from the woman.

"It's nothing short of what someone's apprentice is expected to do alongside learn the practice they're in." Alva replies with a dismissive wave. "I could be asking you to wait on me hand and foot, but I am not so bold, fortunately enough for you."
"Those little tics of yours," she explains. "Reaching for what used to be your hair, almost curtsying, going high enough to make an opera singer jealous when someone surprises you." Oh, can this youth's face get any redder? "As far as I know, besides us, there is only one other woman on the island. She is particularly attractive and sensible, and it wouldn't be a far cry for a young man such as yourself to take an interest in her." Her tone is deliberate, authoritative, and obviously suggesting.

"Well, what am I supposed to do?" She asked, remaining defiant. "I've only had hair this short once before." She frowned, remembering the last time her hair HAD been this short.
Bridgit paused.
"You...you want me to try to court...but how would she react...? I mean, wouldn't SHE notice I'm a girl too?"

"Become accustomed to your hair being so short, and very quickly." Well, that's helpful.
"It would be a small test, of sorts. If Christine does not notice that you are not a man, then I daresay you would be convincing enough to keep everyone else properly fooled." She feels a tinge of guilt setting up such a thing that could toy with her friend's emotions so much, but it feels necessary. "If you like, you could take a few moments to calm yourself and think things over. I am in the fourth room on the bottom floor when I am not outside, at the recovery bay teaching my charge, or elsewhere."
The woman ends the meeting with a smirk, saying, "I am sure you will make the best decision." Then she walks off away from the boarding house as if nothing at all out of the ordinary has happened.
