Katherine followed suit, brushing sand from her jeans as she stood. "Sounds good. Let's get going, then!" she said, smiling cheerfully. Maybe if she put on a happy face, Linany would pick up on her good mood.
Together, they walked the path from the beach back to the village, Katherine in the lead. It wasn't a particularly long walk, but it was enough for the two of them to take in their surroundings.

Linany smiled, examing and remembering where they were going. She smiled to herself, 'Thank god for my sense of direction.' she thought to herself. As they kept walking, Linany still hadn't seen anyone, and was starting to hope that someone showed themself to them soon.
(Hey everyone, we need someone to post here, and show themself to us ^^;; )

((I'll join. Here's my thread: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=3728897 Crit loved <3)) Artemis stood up from his bed and stretched. Three days. Just three days on this island and he'd found out this place was hell. To be turned into an animal. He hadn't managed to get the courage to ask one of the scientists exactly what animal he was being turned into. It would probably be awhile before he could. He grabbed his sunglasses and subconsciously counted his steps to the door. His hand searched for his cane automatically. After making sure he had on his sunglasses, that he wasn't heading into a wall and that his clothing wasn't too messed up for a blind man (sandles, white collar and cargo shorts), he managed to get the courage to leave his duplex for the first time he'd learned about the changes. A door opened. Now where? A growl in his stomach answered that. Right. Cafe. He listened for footprints. Two of them, light sounding so they were either women or skinny men. SHould he visit them....? A growl in his stomach answered that. He set his cane on the ground and began the tapping motion that being blind demanded to be as subconscious as yawning when tired.

(welcome!)
Linany looked around this village, not seeing anyone. "Man.. it's empty here..." She whispered, glancing at Katherine. But right as she finished speaking, she saw someone, a man, wearing cool sunglasses, and holding a cane. Linany smiled, and walked over to him. "Um.. hello..." She said softly, holding her hand out, "I'm new here, my name's Linany. What's yours?"

"Yeah...it's not too busy most of the time, from what I've seen, but I'm surprised to not see anyone wandering to the cafeteria or something," Katherine agreed.
After the two spotted the man-with-cool-sunglasses, Linany went forward, and Katherine followed suit. She couldn't remember meeting him before, but was willing to do so now.
"I'm kind of new too....at least, I haven't changed yet. I'm Katherine," she said following Linany's introduction and smiling at the man.

Artemis gave what he hoped was a nice smile, "I've been here for, oh... Three days. Call me Artemis," He said. Two women, then, from their voices about three or so inches shorter then him. He pulled his not-cane-holding hand up and rubbed it through his rather odd hair. Light blond, dark brown and Irish red, if it was still the same as it was twenty years ago. It probably was but we would never know that for sure. "So, you've all found out?" He asked, a bit uncomfortably. He had no idea that there was a hand in front of him.

Linany thought he was being rude, the thought of him being blind hadn't really occured to her. She lowered her hand. "Yeah... we've found out, Artemis." She nodded slowly, "....You mean about the whole experiments thing, right...?" She asked, afraid that there might be another dreadful secret on this island, and honestly, that wouldn't surprise her anymore.
"Nice sunglasses, and cool cane." She smiled, "But why bring a cane here, you don't look that old..." She asked, wondering. Still, the thought of him being blind hadn't crossed her mind.

((not in mule account, but still Katherine....))
Though it took a moment, Katherine realized Artemis' disability when he "ignored" Linany's outstretched hand.
"Yeah, we know...actually, I just told Linany a little while ago," she added, nodding in agreement. She shuddered internally, thinking of how it would be absolutely awful to not only be an animal, but a blind one, and unable to see what you look like. Then again, perhaps it was better that way...he wouldn't actually witness the loss of his humanity. It never occurred to her that his sight might return with the changes in his DNA.
"So, Artemis, where are you headed? And have you met many people yet?" she asked.

Artemis nodded, "Yes, the experments. I'm not sure whether or not there is another secret but I wouldn't be surprised. He lowered his hand from his head. He was distinctly annoyed that of the three people he'd met so far, the two in front of him included, so far two (he wasn't sure about Katherine) realized that sunglasses+cane+tapping=blind.
"I kind of need it to walk. I'd bump everything if I didn't have it," He said politely. He wasn't feeling as dramatic as he did when he met Crevan so decided that if she couldn't figure it out from that blatantly obvious statement, he just might have to tell her. Surely no one was that unobservant. Then again, he was the one who couldn't see.
"I see. Uncomfortable thing, being told. Must be worse being the teller, He visibly winced. "I wouldn't believe it if the person who told me was at least half or more done with his transformation. But I'm a skeptic of everything." He shrugged. Visible comments were still natural to him, even though he hadn't seen anyone else make them for a couple decades. That made him feel old, though surely twenty-eight wasn't old, right?
The question caught him in surprise. "The cafeteria. I'm starving. And just one other person. I hermitted for a bit in my duplex yesterday," He admitted.

"Bump into everything? Surely no one's that...." Linany paused for a second, thinking, "Oh!! Oh! Oh, I'm sorry! You must be... blind, right?" She bit her lip, hoping he didn't just have slightly bad eye sight, or was just joking.
She smiled gently, though she thought he might not be able to see it. 'I have been acting a bit different... maybe it's because I'm around people who actually want to talk to me, now...' She thought to herself, 'I never realized how nice it was to know that your opinion mattered.' She smiled again, glancing over at Katherine.

Artemis replied with a smile. That took the girl awhile. "You are correct," He said, to answer her question, "Since I was eight." He added in an afterthought. A lot of people felt worse for those who'd been blind their whole life. Others for those who'd seen before. He decided to let her draw her own conclusions. "So... shall we walk?" He asked, gesturing in the general direction of the cafeteria.

Linany nodded slowly, but gasped quietly when he added the last bit. "Since you were eight... so... you know what a joy it is to see..." She looked down. "I'm sorry to hear that." But she looked back up, towards where they were going, "Sure, let's go." She smiled gently, "Coming, Katherine?" She glanced back at her.

"What? Oh, yeah, sure," Katherine replied, blushing at having been caught zoning out. The cafeteria sounded like a good idea, though...she hadn't eaten since fairly early that morning.
While she wanted to be more friendly and join in the conversation, she found herself with nothing to say. Kat had always been a little awkward in social situations when it came to new people, but now, it was even stranger, given the setting they were all in. There wasn't much to talk about other than their impending doom, and that really wasn't a subject she felt it would be smart to dive into. They'd end up discussing it anyways. But in the meantime, what could she say? She tried to think of her interests before realizing that she didn't really have any...and then there was life before the island, but she didn't really want to share her part of that, so that wasn't a good idea either...
With a small sigh, Katherine followed Artemis and Linany, hoping to be able to add to whatever they said.

Artemis nodded, heading towards the cafeteria in the 'tap-step' of his walk, perhaps a bit faster than the typical walk. Food would be excellent. "Seeing might be wonderful but you don't really need it. You just need to have a good memory if you're blind. And hope no one changes the furniture on you," He added. Furniture changers were awful but luckily no one he'd lived with was that big on feng shui or overly obsessive about furniture placement. He wasn't exactly sure if he was going in the right direction but certain that Linany would probably pull him aside if he was going to walk into a wall or something. She seemed the type to do that.
