Aufstandkind koolchick007 Poodle Crusader It seems like a long time, but it's really only been a month and a bit.
I searched around on the internet with his name after hearing of his death, and found out a few things. I particularly wanted to know whether he was Christian or not - I suspected he was, since he was so passionate about the environment, but he never said anything about it on TV. And right now I still don't know what to think. Some sources say he was, some say he wasn't. I really do hope he believed. whats that supposed to mean? It sound sto me like you're saying only Christians can be so kind and caring as he was ....well I'm an Atheist and I care about the environment and animals very very much I am too, but I wouldn't take offense at that statement. I've known a lot of people of faith in general who associate good deeds with spirituality. It depends on the individual. As I recall there are some Bible passages about mankind being given ward over all the animals. Some interpret this as a literal God-given right to do what we please with it while others interpret this as a command from God to take care of animals. Honestly though, I personally like animals in part because of Athiestic (finding symbiotic relationships a wonder of evolution rather than creation, for example) reasons but mostly just because they're so amazing. To each their own, though. I think this person's comment has been translated a little too literally.
What I beleve was trying to be explained was that Steve often talked about wildlife being his "reason for being put on this planet." Such beliefs are usually spiritually tied in the belief that God has a purpose for all of us during our time here.
I, personally, am a Christian, but I don't disbelieve in evolution. Yes, so teh Bible speaks of modern-day animals being created. And, in some shapes and forms, all of them were existant way back when, many of them just not recognizable by today's standards. And there's nothing in the Bible that says God couldn't have a hand in evelotion, helping HIs own creatures survive in a changing world....

Please don't take offence at my statement, I was trying to tell koolchick 007 not to be bothered to Poodle Crusader's post. That's all I meant. I know Christians who believe in evolution for the same reason you stated. My example was just myself trying to put my personal ties with animals into words. I wasn't about to launch into a diatribe on Athiesm because this just isn't the place for it. My reasons for lack of faith are my own and I really don't want to argue with any spiritual people. All I want is for people of differing faiths (or lack thereof) to get along.

I know a lot of atheists who don't care about anything but their own lives and how they make use of them. That's the impression that's been given to me, so I find it hard to believe that an atheist could care so much about the environment, for example. But obviously, you just said you do and I don't see why you'd lie about that sort of thing.

Ouch. I have to say that kind of generalization really hurts. I've met very few athiests who were like that and it's kind of painful to hear that we're thought of like that. I've met Christians who were very cruel but I don't think all Christians are despite bad experiances. I dunno. It's weird, I never really thought religious people actually thought we were bad. That's distressing to hear. However this is the second time I've contributed to a thread derail this week and I'm not really sure I'm setting a good example. I probably shouldn't let things said on the internet hurt my feelings, either.
Suffice to say Irwin was a great man and I feel bad for changing the subject from his contribution to humanity.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't you who changed the subject.
That was only my impression of atheists because of the people I know. I As for the rest of the world, I don't think they'd agree. And well, now I know better.

strange...but from what i heard, he shouldn't have taken the sting ray's spear out of him. something about when people do this, it opens the wound and then the body can't take the pressure... but yes, i cant believe hes dead! crying and i thought, no offense, that he would have died in some tradgic way. he was always saying that the stingray was harmless, so i never even thought about him dieing like that. crying

It'll probably have severed a good number of blood vessels, and now the very presence of the object could be the only thing stopping you from bleeding. A lot. Steve Irwin could have lived if he left the barb in, but the stingray's venom wouldn't have made it easy.
Anyway, I'd rather he died like this, than after days of ups and downs in the intensive care unit of some hospital. At least it's more fitting.

But at least if he was in the intensive care, he may have had a chance to say goodbye to his wife.. But she probably wouldn't want to see him like that either... Oh wait she saw the video, so she already had seen him like that....I don't know..Yeah, It would be nice all together if he didn't die..

I WANT MY STEVE IRWIN BACK! I havent been through a single day when i havent cryed AT LEASED once for him. It donst help that my hamster, Gizmo, died the same day. So i lost my hero and my babii! I WANT IRWIN AND GIZMO BACK! ~ heart crying ~Bhuvii, still does and forever will be cryin 4 steve irwin crying ~ PS: I just wish Steve Irwin would be able to rest in peace but he wont untill humans learn. The stingray killings have skyrocketed since his death because the people that "loved" him are blaming the stingrays! if they truley cared about steve irwin they would know that is not what he wanted! he wants the creatures to be LEFT ALONE!!!! PSS: this is a letter i wrote to all my friends on the day of Steve Irwins death: Everyone, steve was like a father to me. if it werent for him i would not be who i am today. i would have grown up to be like my grandfather, a hunter. when i was around 2 years old i started watching Crocdile Hunter and immedetly it took effect. Steves compasion for wildlife made me wonder what was so great about wildlife. i started reading, reserching, and watching croc hunter everyday. When i turned 4 i offically became a conservationalist and one of the biggest Steve Irwin fans. When Jeff Corwin came out, i admit, i didnt watch Crocodile Hunter as much, but i still admired the irwin family. Please everyone, do your part in helping wildlife, and please mourn for Steve Irwn with me. You may not know it, but he is a huge loss for this world. we the people of the community have to take his place and conserve and donate, just as my beloved steve irwin always has and i know his family will continue doing. The animals have lost the best friend they ever had! "I have no fear of losing my life - if I have to save a koala or a crocodile or a kangaroo or a snake, mate, I will save it." Steve Irwin said in a cofident voice.
