... Wooden Cocoon
“Oak guess what we are going to do today?” Kyo stared into the deep green eyes of his charge. Waiting for a few moments. “Well I guess you still can’t talk, but anyways. We are going to plant a garden in the front yard. It’s looking a little drab and I think you’ll have a lot of fun doing it. Since you know… your part tree and what not.” Kyo chuckled. Reaching down and picking up the treeling and held him closely to himself. Jotting down a mental note of what was going to be needed for this task. Soil, flowers and plants, gardening tools, and some fertilizer… “I think that stuff will do..” The elf broke his conscious thought and headed out of the front door. This task was a really random idea that just popped into his mind, but it was an event the elf thought that would help tie there bond together better. Since after all the two are going to be stuck together for quite some time.
The two headed out the door and off into town. Kyocho holding tightly onto his treeling.
Oak’s eyes just kept browsing around and taking in the environment around the two. The forested walk to the city and then the bustling heavily populated city streets. There was so much action to take in.
“Looks like it’s going to be busy today.” Readjusting Oak on his hip the elf had a smile on his face as the two wandered down the city sidewalks.
“Here we go…” Laying his hand on the door knob and flinging the door open. The sudden burst of flower, potting soil, and fertilizer filled the green houses entirety. The elf placed his Oaken charge down on the dirt covered floor. “Now Oak, I’m going to let you choose the plants you think would be best for our garden.” Kyo nodded. Wandering over to a flower bed and awaited for the crawling Oak to meet up with him. Then sat down on the dirty floor and pulled out a box filled with orchids colored in white, red, blue, and yellow. “What do you think about these?”
Oak looked up at his guardian then over to the plants in the case. Thinking for a minute. Oak just sat there studying the plants then reached out and grabbed a blue one and smiled.
“I’ll take that as a yes.” The elf nodded and gathered up a box of blue orchids and set them to the side on the floor.
Oak began to daze off with a sense of feeling that there must be something else around here and wandered off while Kyocho wasn’t looking.
“How about this… one?” The elf flung around. Oak wasn’t any where in sight. “Oak? Where did you go buddy?”
BOOOM!
The sound of falling plastic, sod, potting soil, and a few plants. Echoed from across the room. “Oak…” Kyo slapped his face on his forehead and ran off to the rescue. Who knew a baby could cause so much trouble. “OAK?”
“Whooosh..”
“Huh?”
“Whooosh..” That sound again… what was it?
“Oak where are you?” The elf scrambled around in the pile of gardening needs. “Was that you making that noise?”
Oak stared up at his guardian and smirked a bit. Resting between his stubby baby legs was a small cherry tree.
“You want to plant that tree too? Alright I guess we‘ll take that too.”
The two continued to shop around some more. After Oak got into some more messes. The two finally gathered up a few more plants and packed up, paid, and headed on there way back home. Luckily there was a wheel barrow in stock or else they wouldn’t have gotten the Cherry tree, blue orchids, snowdrop, sage, and the variety of needed items for planting. Quite a variety they had, but anything to keep Oak happy.
It was about four in the afternoon after there trek back from the city had ended..
A nice spot was picked right in front of the house. A vacant spot where the old garden used to be, but the plants had long been dead and gone. In need of a bit of repair.
The elf rested Oak next to him as he sat down. Reaching over and picked up one two of the shovels, the metal he kept to himself, but gave Oak a plastic shovel so he couldn’t hurt himself. “Alright, ready to get this started?”
With that the elf dug his shovel into the dirt and began there tedious job of replanting the garden. First off they where starting with the tree. Planting it in the center so that the flowers would be planted around the base. An hour went by and the hole was finally dug and the tree was planted along with the rest of the flowers all that was left was one single blue orchid.
Between Oak’s legs occupied the remaining of the blue orchids. Kyocho couldn’t figure out how the plant got there in the first place, but oh well. What damage could he do. Digging a good sized hole. “Ok Oak, now can you put that into there so we can get it planted and we can get inside for the night.” The elf whispered. Stepping back a bit so Oak could maneuver his way over.
Oak slowly grasped the plant by starting sod in one hand and carefully maneuvered his way over to the hole he was instructed to drop the Orchid in. Now why would some one plant this thing. It was looking rather delectable right now. Slipping on the moist grass, Oak began to slide.
His guardian quickly corrected this mishap and picked him up before the Orchid was crushed. “Careful there.”
Oak was determined to finish up this task and quickly made haste to plant the Orchid. Slowly he moved his arm over the hole and slowly dropped the plant into it’s new home… but something began to happen just as soon as the plant had found it’s home. Oak began to glow an odd and eerie light. Much like the one from when the baby first emerged from his wand.
“Oak!”
The light grew in strength as soon as it took shape of leaves and branches and encircled the baby in his spot. Rooting him to the ground he crawled on. The light began to die down and left in the place was a cocoon of roots, leaves, and branches.
The elf guardian reached out to touch the fragile material, but before his fingers could touch the outer texture. Everything burst into tiny bits and pieces, but what was left was the utter most prize of it all.
Dead center rested, Oak… a very changed individual. A mask had covered his face… and his appearance was different, more older in fact.
“Oak is that you?”
“Whooosh..”
“Can’t you speak?”
“Whooooosh….”
“I guess not yet, but oh well. Lets get inside and get you to bed.” Kyocho reached down and grasped his arms around Oak and lifted him up and headed inside. This sudden growth didn’t come to him as a shock. Having expecting something like this was going to happen sooner or later.

... Adventures of being aloneFaeyas/Artemis: Black Kyocho/Oak: Brown
The Not So Adventure --------------------------- Artemis crawled into the shadows of a tree by the water side, she looked down at the silver liquid, amazed with its clarity and utterly befuddled by its depth and consistency. She dropped a hand into the water, resulting in a large splash of the liquid to go up and onto her face and clothes.
After a moments consideration she repeated the action, this time with a smile on her face. By the time she had both hands splashing the water almost repeatedly she was full out laughing! Oh what a sight she must have been.
A small boy of green and brown. Shifted his body as he moved around the tree. Moving away from the sun that was shinning down onto the broken and torn head quarters. That sudden rush of being warm then moving into the shade to cool off was most spectacular, something Oak enjoyed while he was being attended by his guardian... but what was there to enjoy in such rubble and destruction?
Oak's green eyes drifted down as he stopped in his path. A girl was playing in the water. Rather dull looking though Oak thought to himself.
"Umm... Hi.." The boy managed to whisper. A slight airiness filled his words as they left his wooden lips. Though the boy still cowered behind the safety of the tree.
Art stopped her motions to look up. She heard a sound, she was certain she had, but from where? After in front of her was considered clear, she began to twist herself around until she reached a peculiar position that permitted her to see the camafloged boy. She tilted her head to the side, wondering what he was doing way over there.
Smiling she lifted some water and flung it at him. The water exploded long before hitting the boy into a burt of light and drops of crystals, until they hit the ground as mere water once again, "Hi!" She shouted, giggling.
Oak watched as the small girl flung the water at him. Causing him to retreat slightly more behind the safety of the tree. But then something happened it... the water exploded into burst of light. Something about that wasn't natural, but it was interesting.
"Wha... what are you doing?" Oak managed to mumble, still hiding halfway behind the tree. Holding tightly to the bark flakes, much like he was holding on for dear life.
Art tilted her head sideways and looked confused as her little toddler aged mind attempted to consider the boy further. "Playin'" She answered, "You?" She really hoped the boy would come out from behind the tree. She turned herself to face him so that he knew that she was focused on him now, something her mom taught her to do.
Oak moved his tree like figure further and a bit more away from behind the tree. His frail figure coming into better view inch by inch. "I.. I don't know. I just was wandering around here." Oak nodded. A few strands of his multicolored hair fell in front of his eyes and face.
Art giggled, smiling brightly. "Wanna play with me?" She asked the interesting boy, "I found a nifty area, it gots a large hole, and stuff." She pushed herself onto her feet. And although it looked like she was a natural walker, she had to correct her balance often, but not once did she fall as she walked over to the boy.
Oaks eyes grew with excitement. Play? What is play... it sounded found. Oak nodded with a smile on his face.
"I would like too.. umm "play"" Oak continued to smile as he finally stepped all the way out from behind the tree. Reaching up with his right hand to move the hair out of his face, causing a leaf or two to fall.
"My name is Oak" Oak spoke, but there was an airy accent to it. Not thick, but light.
"Art'mis." Art replied, but upon hearing it she corrected herself to the simple more correct sounding term, "Art." She mimicked the boy, not used to hand shakes, she allowed hers to be taken and not the other way around.
"Sis this way!" She started to walk one direction until she hit a large bolder, a piece of the destroyed wall. She climbed up it and looked back to see if Oak was following her. A sharp pain of loss flooded Art's senses, tears had formed in her eyes and fell down her confused cheeks. The feeling had been so intense and had passed so quickly that as such a small child she had no idea what to make of it. So she decided to ignore it until she could figure it out.
Oak nodded a small smile on his face and the boy followed Art. Slightly confused when she corrected herself on her name. Did she not know it? Oak shrugged his shoulders and a few leafs fell to the grass.
Watching Art climb up part of the destroyed wall. Oak was feeling a bit anxious. What if they got hurt climbing on things around here? He preferred being earthbound rather than climbing up on things, mostly out of fear of falling. All of a sudden a sense of emptiness pierced the boy, although no tears ran down his face, but Oak just pushed away the feeling. "Art, yous not going to get hurt?"
"'Course not." She smiled back at the boy, "Isafe here." She sat on the top of the rock and began to let her legs go down until she slid down the rock onto the ground on the other side. "'Urry up!" She called after the boy, "We closes!" She could see the large hole from here, boy would he get a kick out of it. It was her favoritest place in the entire garden since the dark day.
Oak let out a depressing sigh. Wandering closer to the rock, he lifted up his arms and began to climb up it's rough skin. Hoisting his body up higher and higher, using his feet to control his balance.
Reaching the peak of the stone, Oak sighed once again as he watched Art on the other side. Picking up the pace, the boy turned around until he was on the opposite side of where he had started and mimicked Art's sliding down. "I'm trying to hurry.."
Art looked back at the boy and almost giggled, she went back and offered him a stable hand, "No fall k?" She smiled as she helped him down the rock the best that a toddler could.
Oak slowly reached out with his hand. Carefully thinking, Oak was thinking if he could truly trust this "Art". Something about her presence didn't seem right... something dark, a lot like the moon that Kyo and him would sit and watch for hours on end. Rather though Oak was more drawn to the sun and so he didn't trust Art too much, but enough to get by.
Oak grasped onto her hand. "I won't, thank you." A smile slowly creped it's way across his face. Then he slowly slid down the face of the rock till his feet had finally planted themselves down on the first ground.
"Now where?"
"Here!" Art ran foreword stumbling as she did, but still managing with an unseen grace to stay standing. She ran up to its edge and pointed within the large hole in the ground.
The hole had a large self of concrete over one part of it, but not all, and it was deep enough that two children could go to the bottom and not see over the top. at the very bottom some water had accumulated, as if the hole was deep enough to reach a water source beneath the ground.
"It pretty..."
Oak followed art, but didn't run. He didn't see a point in running... to a hole in the ground. As the tree child arrived, Oak slowly inched his way closer and closer to the edge of the hole, but stood a good distance away, just enough to lean over a bit to see what Art was looking at.
"It's s.s..scary..."
Oak managed to mutter, with a shakened airy voice.
Lifting his hand to the side of his face, the boy pushed back the few strands of hair that managed to fall over his eyes.
Art looked at the boy one eye brow raised and her mouth all mess up. She was confused, a boy was scared of something? strange. Not that she had much experience with boys but from what her mom read her they tended to be brave.
With a shrug of her shoulders Art squatted on the ground and began to slide down into the hole.
"Wait... wha... where are you going?" Oak stammered, scooting himself back inch by inch. Not wanting to accidentally fall in. As he watched Art crawl her way down, Oak began to feel slightly jealous over her bravery. Why couldn't he amount to anything of such?
Oak has always been to scared to do anything for as long as he could remember, but he didn't plan on changing or challenging himself to change that fact.
"In hole!" She called back, "Otherwise it boring." Looking up she stopped her decent, "Com'on!"
"But why? It's scary looking." Oak's body shivered. Then a feeling of being left alone soared through his body. It was something different alright and it was enough to motivate Oak enough to start climbing down. Slowly he lowered himself to the ground and brought both of his feat around. Carefully positioning himself over the ledge.
The tree boy began to make his way down, slowly though. Enough that Art was going to hit the bottom first and would have to wait a while before he even made it down.
Oak hugged the wall like he was clinging for his life.
Art looked up at the boy, they sure were confusing. He said it was scary yet he followed her down. Not that she minded, she wanted him to follow her. But he seemed so pathetic clinging to the dirt like his entire existence depended on it. If he fell he would get wet with maybe a few scrapes. Somehow Art knew this couldn't be the worst that could happen to you. Still, she had little sense of competition when compared to compassion. She began to ascend the hole until she was beside Oak. "I help, grab me if slip k? " She looked down, "Fall not to bad anyway."
"Oh... Ok" Oak's body began to shake slightly with fear of falling, but it was a bit more comforting when Art offered to help him out if he needed it. The boy began to feel a little more comfortable around her, a bit more trusting, is this what you called friends? Kyo had talked to him a lot about making friends with the other children in the compound.
With his final step the boy was finally on the dirt floor of the hole. "I'mm just scared I’ll break one of these branches off from falling." Oak dug his toe into the ground while his eyes took in the color of the damp soil. A little rosy color blushed onto his face.
"Thank you, Art"
"No worries." Art smiled and knelt next to the water. "The water makes the branches strong." She said, repeating something her mom had told her about water one night when she refused to bathe. She hoped that it made the boy feel better, he seemed concerned for the branches, which was fine, but she thought the water was far more interesting. "Oak is branch too?"
Oak stepped closer to Art and the pool of water. Kneeling down next to the young girl. Oak put a hand out in front of him and placed it down into the water. The cool crisp feeling pulsated through this hand and through his veins. A sense of refresh ness pulsated through his wooden figure.
"Me a branch? I don't know, Kyo hasn't told me anything other than what these where called. We been going to the forest and he teaches me about trees and plants." Oak nodded with a smile.
"I wana be a gardener when I grow up. Kyo tells me all about gardening and stuffs." "Mom say all dings need water." Art repeated proudly for remembering something like that. She gently swirled her hand in the water creating ripples. She loved how graceful the water was.
She mused over the rest of the boy's words and finally asked, "Gardening?" Art looked up at the boy, "Wats, dat?"
"Gardening?"
Oak tapped his finger against his wooden chin. Shifting his weight and his body around, the boy rested his stomach on the moist ground and swirled his free hand around in the pool of rippling water.
"It's umm, like a person who takes cares of plants and stuffs. Like forests and gardens in front of people’s houses." Oak nodded a small unsure smile on his face. "It's a lot of fun. We play in the dirt and put new plants in the ground. Then sometimes we have water fights." Oak smirked. Remembering the last time the two of them played in the water. If he remembered right, Kyo was furious when he trudged all that water inside the house. That always made Oak smile.
"fun!" Art cooed, getting a mischievous smile on her face. Quick as she had thought of it she leapt into the water, sending water out in all directions. She then proceeded to lift and toss water at oak splashing him as she laughed.
Just as soon as the water hit his wooden skin most of it was soaked up into his body. A refreshing feeling soared throughout him. Oak shook his head then a smile grew on his face and soon began to return the favor. Reaching down, Oak cupped his hands and filled them up with the chilled water and threw it into the air.
The boy then stood up and jumped high into the air and mimicked Art as he came crashing down on whatever water remained.
Art continued to giggle out loud as she splashed in the water and played with the mud. She was to young to care that her clothes were currently a mess, this was too much darn fun!
She picked up a mud pie and dumped it on her own head before doing the same to Oak, as she continued to giggle up a storm.
Oak giggled out loud as soon as the mud pie landed on him. Something about this water and this mud actually made him feel comfortable. Like some kind of sensation soaring through his body. Could it be his body was taking on a few nutrients here and there from the mud? Oh well he didn't really care for that, just as long as he had fun that’s all that mattered.
Through all the mud and jumping around. Oak noticed something on Art. The boy quickly came to a stop and pointed at the little piece of art on Art's waist. "What's that thing there?"
Art stopped and looked down at her belly where he pointed. A little bit of mud was running down it but there was indeed a silver crescent shape with two dots seemingly there as a part of her skin "Dun e'ry body gots one?" she asked Oak, not knowing was a birthmark was, let alone that this was hers.
Oak twisted his head back and forth looking all over his body that wasn't covered in mud or clothing. "I don't have that on me." The boy shrugged his shoulders. Causing a few flakes of mud and leaves to drop off and hit a few of tiny puddles that surrounded the two of them.
"Did some one put it on you?"
Art shook her head, normally she would have worried about such a thing but she loved it in such a way that it was uniquely hers, and it was pretty to boot. "No it always been dhere."
She gave a smirk at oak, "It dun matter tho." she said as she threw another bit of mud at Oak. "Wanna climb out and explores the rest of here?"
Oak nodded with a half smile across his face. Something about that pattern on her skin just didn't seem right to him, but what was it to him to be concerned. Oak just shook the thought from his head and picked himself up off the ground. Sweeping away any remaining mud that had yet slimed it's way down from his wooden body and onto the muddy floor. Good thing the boy didn't have to wear shoes, other wise his guardian would be furious to his the wild mud tracks.
Oak pulled himself up and out of the hole. Using some burley roots that maze themselves through the soil. "Where to Art?"
Art shrugged and got back up on her feet. "Up?"
She didn't wear shoes, but her whole outfit was soiled with mud. Not that she cared, still thinking that something magical usually cleaned them for her.
The soil was hard to scale but digging her hands in seemed to work just fine. Occasionally she'd grad a root or two that was sticking out. Deciding that climbing is far more difficult than sliding into the hole Art decided that next time she went down, she'd stay longer.
Oak reached down with a hand and offered some help getting out of the hole to Art. A smile was planted on his face. "Art, I think it's time to head home. It's starting to get dark and I think Kyo is starting to wonder where I'm at." Oak nodded his head.

... In the JungleArchie: Black Kyo: Brown
Adventure ..................
Archie had no great love for places with excessive grass and dirt and trees. Back home, he had been completely made of synthetic materials and had never left the house without being carried five feet off of the ground, so anything that creeped or crawled or chittered but wasn't human-looking kind of freaked him out when it wasn't surrounded by large amounts of plastic and concrete. Still, he was on the fast track to repairing his relationship with Alek, so when the toddler had screamed, "WOODS, GRAN'CHIE!" Archie had obliged. It seemed like a strange place for a kid to want to play, but Alek was a strange kid. He was certainly the only real kid Archie had ever met who preferred piccolos to stuffed animals.
The biggest obstacle Archie encountered in granting the kid's wish was that he had no idea where one could find woods in Gaia that wasn't prohibitively far away. Eventually he came to the conclusion that parks were kind of like forests, and... oh hey, that park where he had met Sara Two-moons kind of faded into a woodsy place if you went all the way to the back! Perfect!
It was with great pride that Archie carried a smiling Alek through that very park and deposited him about five feet from the treeline. "Watch out for kidnappers," he warned as he took a seat on a large rock and pulled several crumpled pieces of paper out of his pocket.
"What're those?" Alek asked with a frown.
"Nothing important. Just don't talk to strangers."
Alek nodded and scampered toward the forest, his calloused bare feet clapping rhythmically over the rocks and sticks in his path.
The trees of the forest had been serving the two today. As Kyo was going over with Oak, one of his lessons of the week. Both of them holding out books. One of which came from the library in the head quarters, which held the information about treants. That one Oak was reading, but the one Kyo was reading didn't really hold any importance.
"Ok Oak, so what is the wood called in the center of the tree?"
"Umm... is it Heartwood?"
"Your catching on Oak, awesome job!" The elf beamed down on his charge. Oak might only be a toddler, but it was always a good idea to work on studies. Knowledge is always a wonderful power to have... especially if it's about yourself.
Kyo began to hum to himself a tune he had learned in his past. Too long ago that in fact he couldn't remember what it was called or why he had learned it, but he embraced the tune yet. The two focused on there studies, not even aware of the creatures skittering around them. Then all of a sudden the sound of a scream echoed through the trees. Luckily Kyo was an elf so the sounds came easily to himself.
"That voice sounds some what common, like some one we've met before." Kyo nodded, but shrugged his shoulders. "Oh well..."
Alek sobered and stilled as he saw movement and heard quiet voices up ahead. At first, he didn't recognize the other boy, after all, he was bigger, his hair was longer, and he was kind of... more treelike overall. But after a moment of staring, his eyes flickering back and forth between Oak and Kyo, Alek put two and two together.
"Hey, 's you!" he said happily, shaking his hand in an excited wave. "Why you sittin' in the woods?"
Alek? Kyo suddenly remembered it had been a few months since he had seen or heard from Dixie. The elf pierced his eyes to get a better view of this boy. It surely was Alek, but... older.
Oak looked up from his book and stared at the happy sounding boy. Scratching at his head, Oak suddenly remembered who this boy was. It was Alek. It had been a while since he heard or seen him. "Hi... Alek. We just sitting here having a lesson. Kyo was teaching me on gardening and... Umm... what was it called... bot...? Botany?"
Oak looked up at his guardian.
Kyo gave him a nod and a smiled. "Your right and it looks like we are done here. So if you want Oak you can go off and play with Alek. I'll be here, so don't go running off too far and getting in trouble." The elf nodded. Even though he wished Oak was more social with everyone and took the risk of getting into a bit of mischief.
"Thank you Kyo" Oak smiled. Giving his guardian a hug as he jumped up and ran off over to Alek's side.
"Why you out here?" Oak tapped at his wooden chin as he stared at Alek.
Oak! That was the boy's name! He glossed over a bit at the talk of gardens and plants, but that was to be expected. Alek loved the outdoors, but it surely didn't speak to him the same way it spoke to Oak.
"Just playin'," Alek said. He watched Oak tap his chin and idly wondered where he could get a wooden face. It had to be a mask, right? "Lookin' for trees to climb and animals," he elaborated. So far, in this new, slightly larger body, Alek had met a giant dog and seen some squirrels in his yard. He was certain there were better animals in a forest.
"You seen any animals?" Oak shrugged his shoulders. All the animals he saw had been a few squirrels and chipmunks here and there. Other than that his nose was buried in those books Kyo gave him to study.
"You climb up trees?" Oak pondered for a moment. If he was a tree... then would some one try to climb up him? If that where to happen something might break. Oak retreated to himself. Crossing his arms close and in front of his chest.
Alek shook his head. "Just got here." He looked up at the trees when Oak asked if he climbed them. "Dunno. Never did. What's wrong?" he asked, poking the other boy on the forearm. "We dun have to look for animals if you don't want to."
"Oh nothin wrong." Oak smiled alleviated that Alek hadn't climbed up any trees yet. Nothing was really wrong about doing it, it was just the matter of the fact that since he had been part tree which made Oak feel rather offended by the thought. "We can go look for animals." Oak continued to smile still. Looking for animals could help pass the time by faster and then he wouldn't have to go back to his studies any time soon.
"Where do you want to go look first?"
Hmm. If Oak didn't have a problem with looking for animals, it must have been the climbing trees he had been upset about. Alek had thought it had seemed like a thing you would do in the woods, but he supposed it was different when you had a wood face. Probably just as dumb as if he went around climbing up other little boys. He shrugged and pointed further into the forest. "That way. What kinds live here?" he asked
"umm..." Oak tapped a finger on his wooden chin, "Squirrels, raccoons, birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, bugs, insects, and a lot others I guess... I don't remember what else I read about in one of my books." The boy nodded a small smile on his face
Alek giggled suddenly as he hopped off in the direction he had pointed. "Those're good. Come on!" He slowed his forward advance and waited for Oak for a moment. The forest was probably more fun with two people anyway. Little did Alek know that with the amount of noise he was making, they were unlikely to see anything at all. "How d'you call a frog?"
Oak nodded and followed along with Alek deeper into the forest. He quietly watched. Wondering to himself if Alek really knew what he was doing. Making that kind of noise they wouldn't be able to find anything or see for a matter of fact. "Umm I think it's like Riiiibit or something like that. Kyo told me that they 'croak' when they make a sound." The wooden boy nodded and smiled.
Something skittered across the path a few feet ahead of the toddlers. Alek stopped giggling to himself and stared at the spot where whatever it was had slipped back into the brush. Suddenly realizing that laughter and loud stomps weren't going to get them anywhere, the satyr stopped moving completely. He turned to his friend. "That way?" he suggested in a whisper.
Oak shot his adventuring friend a glance, confusion and worry began to set into the wooden brain of his. As soon as he heard Alek whisper it brought the idea to Oak that he may need to be quiet. Naturally of course they where in the outdoors and Oak was part tree, so his steps would remain unnoticed.
Oak sent a nod back to Alek, showing his understanding. "What you see?" The boy whispered back in a whispered hushed tone.
"Somethin' small?" Alek said, taking a couple of steps forward. They were still on some sort of path, but they would have to go deeper into the trees to see what the animal was, and Alek desperately wanted to. "Follow?" he asked. He almost put on his best 'pwetty pwease' adult bribe face before realizing it probably wasn't going to work on another kid.
Oak stared and pondered Alek's face. Follow who? The little creature or Alek? The boy shrugged with a smile. He didn't see any harm in following the little animal, but one wrong move and the animal could scurry off faster then the two of them could run.
"I guess so." Oak nodded.

... Funeral ServicePage 2 It was Kyo's and Oak's turn to make there presence some what known at the funeral. The man wore something a bit more called for in a situation such as this, but still only in neutral colors... Oak on the other hand still wore the same clothing he wore everyday, just cleaner. The elf released a sigh as he approached the funeral. Oak's hand in his left hand. "How are you holding up Oak?" "Oh... I'm alright, I feel like I’ve lost something, but I don't know what." The boy of bark and leaves nodded. A confused and baffle look across his face about the whole situation. It seemed like deja vu... this feeling of loss. Like he had lost something very precious to himself in his past, but he couldn’t remember what it was. It felt like a stinging and throbbing pain in his heart. "You'll be alright." The elf nodded a reassuring smile on his face. He still didn't know why he came, but it was more in respect for Neveah. Kyo didn't know the other two who had died as well. Only Neveah. She was a really good friend to him, one of the first people he had met when the elf accidentally stumbled through that magic door and shattered a lamp. Everything look perfect. A waterfall, a table set up with food and refreshments, and white chairs that overviewed the service. Kyo quickly took a seat in the very back and released his grip on Oaks hand. "I'm just going to be sitting here you can go off and look at the water" The elf smiled. Oak took the initiative and darted off to the water fountain.
Page 4 The elf's ears quickly picked up on the undercommon language. Sending a sharp jolt of fear through his body. The voice was carried by a drow. Zah.. Kyo turned his head slowly and stared at the boy then returned his gaze back towards the fountain and Oak, but the boy of wood had disappeared. "Oak?" Kyo quickly jumped up out of his seat and grazed his vision across the room looking for the boy. Until his eyes returned to Zah. Oak had already made his way over. Oak stood quietly next to Zah a baffled look on his face as he then looked over to Ianna and who ever else was around. Then all of a sudden he burst out loud. "Why is your skin so dark, but your ears look like Kyo's?"
Page 5 "Yeah Kyo's a Elf, but I like your color and your hair much much much better" The boy of wood and leaves nodded his head. Shaking a few leaves from a branch and onto the ground. His eyes then moved away from Zah and towards the boy standing next to him. "What’s that on your face?" Oak quietly pointed at the object covering Yashi's face. The colors intrigued his attention... well enough for him to speak up and ask about it. His eye sight then quickly moved away and toward Ianna and a smile grew on his face, but his attention couldn’t be held long enough so his gaze moved back to the animal boy.

... Disruption
Everything seemed to be moving calmly at the funeral. No disturbances or anything of the kind. Just peaceful calmness. Thats what they deserved. A chance to be remembered and honored for what they have done, even though it was a painful memory.
The day the HQ was attacked... they where killed. Leaving there charges with out a guardian, although they found new ones, the pain they would have to go through to adjust to the new parents. They didn't deserve it.
Kyo sat towards the back. Just because he liked to keep a close eye to everyone. He was alone, his charge Oak was off sitting beneath a tree breathing in the fresh air with his eyes closed and focused on his feelings deep down.
Something was missing, some kind of connection, but he couldn't find out why. Strange that it happened soon after the deaths though.
Something strange then happened. A magical crack echoed throughout the funeral service and encased the field in a bubble. Oak looked up confused and then over towards his guardian Kyo. He could see in his eyes that the elf could sense a magical pulse emitting from the bubble.
Quickly the boy darted up and ran off toward Kyo and tightly held on to the Elf's waist. "Whats going on?"
"I don't know" The elf responded.
Then monsters... monsters they have seen before began to shade into the HQ. They where they monsters they have seen before in the In Between. Wasn't this ever going to end.

... Random RPQuote: Kyo was off somewhere doing his usual research of plants and some weird objects. He had left Oak to his own demise and entertainment. The boy named Oak ended up wandering amongst the halls of the headquarters. So much had changed here. An opened book rested between his hands. On the leather cover was an imprint of a tree, which entailed the book was about trees. It was a gift he had gotten from Kyo long before he could remember. Already he must have read the book at least a couple of times already. Unfortunately Oak could only keep his attention on one thing at a time and where he was walking obviously wasn't occupying it.
Quote: Oak was deeply concerned with his book... very very deeply concerned. He didn't even notice the voice of other people echoing down the hall. Not even his guardian Kyo could understand how a boy could get so drawn into a book that he would turn oblivious to the world around him... The boy stepped lightly. Hardly leaving a sound with every step. Only the sound of his "wand" on the floor resonated. He turned a corner and then another and with out looking he ran into a figure, but who's was it? Oaks green eyes slowly drew up higher and higher and higher some more until they rested upon a familiar face... but it wasn't that familiar. It looked like Alek... but different. "Oh sorry.." The boy shyly whispered. Moving his eyes away and then around towards the others. How did he end up here?
Quote: Alek? How could that be Alek? The last time he had seen the half-man boy was in the woods, but it has been a while since then. Now he looked a lot older. Oak studied his face for a while and found some resemblance. "You look bigger" The boy nodded a small smile grew on his face. That only lasted for so long… until the comment of midget people was heard. Everyone was getting bigger than him, why? Oak moved his eyes away and looked toward the floor and closed his book and held it toward his side.
Quote: Oak began to feel the eyes of people staring down on him. He quickly looked up and took notice to Alek again. "I guess thats one bad thing about growing up..." The boy muttered and slightly smiled. He then lifted his head and further his eyes moving away from Alek and quickly caught the sight of some one else. Never before had he seen this figure in the head quarter before. "So many people are starting to show up here." Oak turned his gaze away and back toward Alek.

... Deep slumber
It was mid day. The family had returned from the zoo with the newly recruited boy named Riddik. It must have been a long day, as soon as they walked though the door. Kyocho watched Oak wander his way over to one of the sofa’s, but he wasn’t walking very well.
“Hey Oak… are you ok?” The elf sat Riddik down slowly and began following tree boy.
The boy just shrugged his shoulders quietly.
“Opuntia take care of Riddik… and Coudray… don’t get into trouble.” The elf mumbled as he continued to follow the boy, but before he could reach him.
Oak just barely reached the sofa as his vision began to fade slowly. At first he began to think that he was just tired, but it still persisted as he blinked his eyes to get rid of the annoying blacking out. Just then the boy froze in his place.
“Oak!” The elf rushed even quicker and placed his hands around the boys shoulders.
Just then the tree boy began to sway to the left, but quickly caught himself… just then he swayed to the right, but didn’t catch himself this time and his body began to be pulled toward the earth and his vision blacked out and the last he heard was his name being called out.

... Worried Critters
As the light began to filter back through his faded vision. The sight of something completely different began to materialize. It was unfamiliar to him, but some how it felt familiar…. Like it as home, but it wasn’t… was it? Rows and rows of leafy green foliage clinging onto their branches reached for acres and acres and with no end in sight. Where was he? Oak tried to move his right arm, since being right handed it was his first choice, although it wouldn’t budge. “What… what is going on?” Oak screamed in his own mind, but it reached deaf ears. It was all confusing and he couldn’t figure out what was going on. Being at his home with Kyo was the last thing he remembered… then he blacked out… could this all be a dream then? But it felt oh so real…
All of a sudden this loud and booming voice rang out. It sounded caring… comforting… yet it seemed commanding , powerful, and strong…. But who’s voice was it and where was it coming from? Oak’s temporary eyes began to scan along the distance nervously until he caught glimpse of what rested at his feet. It was roots… and tons of them.
What was going on? A new surging wave of nervousness filled him. This wasn’t home and why couldn’t he move… he should have woken up by now, isn’t that what happens in nightmares? Was this a nightmare? The voice boomed once again, it was slightly intelligible, then slowly it became understandable.
Oak looked in front of his frozen figure. Sitting their in front of him was a tiny squirrel, looking straight back up at him with a sense of innocence. The voice wasn’t coming from that was it? Just then another voice, a lot softer and higher pitched began to speak, that must have been the voice of the squirrel. Oak tried to listen in closer.
“Oak tree,” the high pitched voice rang out, “I’ve seen these odd looking creatures out side of the forest. They are something that I have never seen before, and no one else has seen them either.”
The tree looked down towards the squirrel, “Do not worry little one. Everything will be alright,” A smile grew on the trees face, “ So far they have been kept at bay and they have not entered our forest.”
“I still don’t feel comfortable with them here. Never have I heard from the long line of my family of creatures that look like what they do and never have I heard of anyone venturing to our island. For the longest time it was only the forest and the creatures that lived here” The squirrel spoke again.
The conversation between the two gave Oak the sense that these two where long time friends, but what were these creatures they were discussing and where they heck was this island they were talking about? It was different… but it felt like home…. Like his home. The feeling lightly touched him, was this… was this tree himself? How could it be thought, it was huge and yet he was only so small, but that would also explain why he was partially made of wood and those random branches growing out of him.
Oaks vision began to fade away. Was he finally waking up? If he was why couldn’t he move…? Just as quickly as it began to fade a new vision began to appear. It wasn’t much different than the one before, but the light seemed to pour through the leafs more. It looked like morning to him, just then various animals and creatures began to pour into view as if they were gathering amongst the tree. What was going on? Deer, more squirrels including the one from before, birds of all various colors and breeds began to flock in, and many other animals and bugs began to show up. What sort of gathering was this and who are all these animals?
It was all confusing. So many things were happening and all he wanted to do was wake up and return home.
Many voices began to fill the air, ranging from many different various pitches and accents. Some scared… others angry and furious, but what was the problem? Just then the familiar voice boomed once again, and yet amongst all the scared and angry voices. This was still remained caring and yet commanding and calm.
“CALM DOWN!” Shouted the tree. “Now there is nothing to be scared about. They might be strange and odd creatures, but they haven’t invaded our homeland yet. I have heard of them removing some trees from the far edges of the forest, but no real damage has been dealt yet” “I beg to differ!” an unfamiliar voice echoed out, deep and yet sounded aged. The tree looked down with it’s deep green eyes and the eyes of Oak followed with. “They are unfamiliar to our lands. We should rush them off our home and send them back to what ever distant land they came from!” The Skunk called out again, “I’m sure many of us here feel that same way. Just a few trees now, but the numbers could grow for sure.”
“He’s right!” many of the other creatures of the forest spoke in unison.

... Reflections of Speech
What and who were they talking about invading the forest? All this confused Oak… and he surely didn’t have the need nor want to understand what was going on. All he wanted to do was to return home and to the safety of Kyo’s arms. That was always the most comforting place to be when ever he felt like he was in trouble or stressed out… and surely all these visions were truly stressing him out.
Just as soon as the vision before his frozen eyes began to play out all these visions of some ones past they started to begin to fade away. Leaving Oak confused, dazed, and some what stressed about what was going on. They left many questions unanswered in his mind. Were they his memories? If they were then why didn’t he remember them? He was talking to animals… could he do that?
Just then as his vision faded another one began to appear.

... Surprising Wind
Soft light filtered through the forest trees, glimmering off every speck of morning dew that hung themselves on the green sheen of the spring leaves. Slowly the image began to clarify and became less blurry, showing the image of the same scene as before, but morning most likely.
“Where am I? I want to go home..” Oak silently whispered to himself. Just then a voice perked up, it sounded very close. It was sharp and clear, nothing like the sounds of the animals that gathered around here before. What was the origins of this voice? Oak tried to look around, but he couldn’t see anything in his limited eye sight zone.
“What was that?” Oak began to worry.
The voice echoed once again, this time Oak could understand it better. It was saying “Good morning!” the voice sounded so friendly and didn’t have the sound of formality like one would use when greeting some one for the first time. The origin of the voice most obviously was a close friend, but where was it coming from.
Just then… “Ah, well good morning to you!” The giant that Oak occupied returned in comment and the giants vision began to follow the trails left behind by the voice until they rested upon a spot where a few dozens of trees grew.
“Who is he talking to?” Oak questioned himself, all he could see was a small grove of what his guardian told him were called aspens. “He isn’t talking to the trees is he? I hope I didn’t loose my mind in the past!” Oak sighed silently to himself.
The leaves of the aspens began to quake and turn on command as a sharp wind began to blow through the forest. “Oh how I do hate that.” The Aspen spurted out loud, in a cheerful yet hateful voice.
“Ah yes the wind, they tend to be untamed and surprising at times, but it is all a part of nature” The giant responded back, un phased by the surprising burst of wind.
“So I could have talked to animals and plants as well?” Oak questioned himself as he rested in his cocoon, which felt morel like a prison in the giant.
Just then as soon as the vision began to appear it once again began to fade away. Oak began to question the whole entity of these visions. What were the purposes of these things? Is he ok? What about Kyo and where was he?
Oaks questions grew in numbers and seemed endless in count, but something different began to happen. This sharp, but smooth transitioning pain began to soar though out his body. It wasn’t a familiar feeling. It felt like this body was being pulled in many directions. “Ahh… Kyo!” Oak shouted in pain. Wishing that he was in the arms and comfort of his guardian. He knew that he could help guide him through this.

... Wooden Cocoon
“Oak! Oak! Wake up!” Kyo shouted. He didn’t know what was going on with his charge. Just out of the blue right when they got home from their trip to the zoo, the boy blacked out and luckily close to the sofa. It seemed like hours had already passed through the day and there wasn’t no sign that the boy was going to wake up any time soon.
Just as hope began to run dry. Something began to happen. It looked like what had happened once before when he first changed in size and shape. Was it happening once again?
The figure resting on the sofa began to be enveloped in a shroud of light and cocooned him in it. It was shaped much like an oval, with a deep depression on the top, which of course would have been the chest of the boy. The depression was in the shape of a leaf, a maple leaf to be exact and it was deeply and decorated very intricately, right down to all the veins. As the light began to fade the cocoon began to harden into a wooden oval box, it had the heavy sent of maple wood that had been dampened with morning dew. It was strong enough that the sent soared though out the whole house, and not to mention strong enough, the in cased boy weighed even more enough… which was enough to crack the legs on the sofa and sent the cocoon crashing to the ground.
“What the!” The worried elf jumped quickly out of the way and back towards the center of the room and out of the way.
Oak had awoken deep inside the cocoon, no longer having odd and strange visions that confused him. He couldn’t tell if they belonged to someone else or to him…
Nothing could be seen before him, no light penetrated the wooden egg. “Am I awake or am I still dreaming?” Oak questioned himself and hopped some one could hear him, but his words couldn’t reach the outside. He tried to lift his right hand above his face, but it seemed to be locked in place… it was like a prison.
A tear rand down his cheek, but it was quickly absorbed by his wooden face. All Oak could feel was confusion and the confines of his tight… very tight prison, and to mention that he felt completely different. Like something was different about him and that he wasn’t the same as he was before. Like he was bigger, but was he or was it just part of the paranoia and confusion induced by the prison that held him captive?
Just then… the confine began to crack…

... Awakening
“OAK!” Kyo screamed as he watched a big etching scar crack it’s way down the middle of the wooden cocoon. It ran straight down from the tip of the cocoon and began to make it’s way down through the leaf symbol in the center.
“KYO help me” Oak returned the yell, “I’m so scared!”
A bright light began to pour out from the multiple cracks that now began to crack from the source of the tip of the cocoon. One by one bits and pieces of the cocoon began to fall away and apart, but as soon as it hit the ground it disappeared into shards of light and eventually faded away. In it’s place was pure light, not even the newly grown figure of Oak could be seen.
Slowly the encasing light began to fade away and the last bits and pieces of wood faded away, and what rested before his guardian was a completely different figure. It looked like Oak, but it was bigger… much bigger as if he had grown.
“Oak… your bigger” Kyo mumbled and that is all that he could say, “what… what happened to you?”
“I don’t know Kyo…” The boy whispered, “I saw something… and I think I learned something too..”

... Walk in the woods
Kyocho Several days had drifted by since the event of Oak growing into a bigger... tree human. It was rather difficult for Kyo to deeply explain what his son was. He was part tree, but also part human... so he couldn't really be a treant... they aren't human from what he had learned. Ever since that day Oak had been acting rather strange at least from his perspective... Carefully Oak lifted his right hand up toward his face as the two walked side by side down a dusty road covered partially with fall foliage left over. He focused and concentrated on it. Everything about it looked different, but it didn't feel any different than before. Had this sudden change of form happened to him before? Kyocho had already explained different stages that humans and elves went through and kind of compared himself to it, but the way it happened it different. It felt like a nightmare, but it also felt like a dream. Ever since then he tried to speak with animals and plants of all different species and sizes. So far he could understand bits and pieces, but not a full conversation quite yet. That would have to take at least a few months maybe years of practice. The two of them presumed they were both all alone on this little path that ran through the forested mountains. All of the path was covered in shade, except for the few holes in the canopy that draped it's self over the two wanderers as they both contemplated life and it's sudden and surprising changes it has.
Pales Armel carried his sister in his arms as he made his way along the forested path glancing around while answering her questions as they came out. He used his patient big brother tone as he spoke with his sister as he took in the splendor of nature surrounding him. “What’s that?” Kaveri asked pointing to brightly colored caterpillar edging it’s way up a low branch that they were standing near as they came to a brief resting stop. Kaveri gave a small squeak as Armel lifted her higher so she can observe the caterpillar even better. “Tha’ is a caterpillar, Kav. They eat leaves n’stuff,” he said with a small amused chuckle as he watched the caterpillar as well. It was a fat little thing wriggling its way along to some place or another, “Soon, it’ll turn into a pretty butterfly.” Kaveri knew what butterflies were, in fact she liked them and thought them to be quite pretty, “Ooooh! Can we catch it and watch it grow?” The ram-horned boy settled his sister back into his arms and shook his head, “Not t'day, Kav, we didn’t bring anything t’keep it safe in.” The small nagi made a disappointed face but accepted the fact that the caterpillar must remain in the wild where she had found it.
Kyocho The two continued to walk side by side in silence. Neither of them said a word to each other, but they knew what each other were thinking. Kyo was pondering how this whole thing works with these... so called ghosts and the HQ and the past battles that had taken place. It was surely odd and strange of all these things to happen. Oak was pondering about dreams and what they meant and especially about his dreams the other night. What did they mean... He couldn't wait to give his new abilities a try and what perfect place to do that than the forest? Kyo looked up from his down ward gaze and noticed two figures out in the distance. The snake like creature looked familiar... not just from what he had read in books, but she looked like she belonged to the HQ. "Lets go great those two.." The elf whispered lightly in Oak ears. "Ok.." Oak looked up and nodded... still a look of unsure lingered on his face. As the two approached Kyo began to raise his lips... "Hey there!" The elf called out. Waving one of his hands in the air.
Pales Armel and Kaveri both canted their head over to the voice almost in unison. The youth, who held his sister, shifted her to one arm, somewhat clumsily, and lifted a hand up to wave a greeting to the voice. Kaveri struggled a bit and then went still. It seemed like a better idea for the moment as her brother began to move forward to greet the voice up ahead of them. She leaned her face up to her brother’s pointed ear, “Who are they, big brother?” the Nagi whispered softly to him. The ram-horned boy shrugged flashing his golden eyes at her with a small smile, “Dunno, but we’ll find out, right?” Energetically the girl nodded wearing a wide happy grin. She liked meetin people.
Kyocho "Something about you guys seem a little familiar," The elf smiled looking down at the Naga like girl in the ram-horned boy's arms, "I get a feeling that this little Naga is from the HQ." Kyo bluntly said without realizing he was speaking his own thoughts out loud as his face turned a deep red. "Oops.. sorry I didn't mean to assume.." Oak looked up from the ground and stared blankly at his guardian, "Sorry about that Kyo doesn't know where he is half the time" Oak nodded with a smile, "My name is Oak and this is my guardian Kyocho."
Pales Armel gave the elf stranger a somewhat of a distrusting look for a moment or two before looking at his charge and then back again and it seemed then he had decided to trust the elf. "Aye, my sister is from that place. Her name is Kaveri. My name is Armel, pleased t'meet ye," he muttered a bit gruffly. "T's alright, can't be too careful is all." Kaveri giggled at her brother as he acted superstitious of the motives of the people before them. She felt her big brother was far too protective when he didn't need be. "Hi!" She said simply with a bright smile.
Kyocho Oak smiled and waved at the little snake like girl... what was it Kyo called her? A Naga? Oak some what recalled a memory of reading about a race of snake like people called Naga's in a book he quickly glanced through while the two of them were at the library. The more and more he began to think about it the more he realized that Kyo was giving him a bit too advanced books.. "I read too much..." Oak thought out loud to himself, but in an almost silent voice. Kyo smiled and nodded to the both of them, "It is very nice to meet you two, what are you guys doing all the way out here?"
Kyocho Oak didn't know how to react with some one else child. He was used to being around Kyo's other kids, but he was already used to them. "Umm.. ok" Oak mumbled as he kneeled and sat down on the ground. He was then eye level with Kaveri. "Hi, my name is Oak." The tree boy whispered. Introductions were good.. right? "Your doing a great job!" Kyo nodded with a smile at Armel. Feeling a bit obligated to compliment the ramhorned boy, since it is always nice to be recognized for what you can do well.
Quote: Oak returned the grin, "It's nice to meet you!", he then looked around the two of them and saw a stray wild flower hanging out next to the walk way. Strange that it was here all by it self... it must have drifted on the wind currents as a seed and lost its way. Oak closed his eyes and said a few silent words as he plucked it from the ground. He stared deeply at it then turned to Kaveri and smiled. "Here you go," The tree boy whispered as he handed Kaveri the flower. "Oak feels more at home here, then he does cooped up inside our home," Kyo nodded with a ting of worry on his face. "Plus we have one to many living with us so it's like a little get away and personal time for him." The elf looked down to Oak and smiled at his good gesture, "How about you guys," Kyo returned his glance to Armerl, "what are you guys doing out here?"

... In the GardenPage 1, Post 1 Oak had decided to go out on his own today and leave the cooped up house that was filled with children... scary children too. He was fed up with always watching the children, since Kyo his guardian was always absent minded. Lately Oak had been studying up on his botany. Even at his age he had a major interest in plants... obvious since he was mostly composed of plant like material. Since the weather was fair out and his guardian had always pressed for dressing modest. Oak had decided to ditch the shorts and pick up a pair of... what would you know.... just a longer pair of shorts that fit rather uncomfortably at first, but then the scissors came out and some holes were mended in and that was all he wore. Once upon a time ago Kyo had forced Oak to try on a shirt, but with failure it didn't work. The plants that grew on Oak's shoulders prevented that from ever happening. Oak didn't mind that though, the cooler weather didn't bother him. Oak wandered around the botanical garden taking in all the flowers in their vibrant colors. Bending down here and there to grasp one in his hands and feel the texture of the petal and in his mind he would call out the name of the plant... of course not the scientific name. He could never quite grasp how to pronounce them. "Hmmm I think this is a lily.." Oak mumbled with a smile on his face. As Oak raised himself back up, the sound of foot steps rang in his ears. He quickly turned his head and caught a glimpse of the other occupying the garden. Oak tilted his head and pondered. This figure looked rather familiar. The dark skin and light hair sparked a memory. "Zasalamel?" Oak spoke out gently, he wasn't sure if that was his right name, but at least that name fit the description that Kyo had told him and he also told Oak about his former guardian. A sudden sadness fell over him. He wouldn't know what he would have done if he had lost Kyo.

... Studying
"Kyo!" Oak perked up from his botanical book and shot his eyes directly towards his guardian. Who happened to be in the same room, but dazing off in the far corner with his nose buried in some kind of book.
"What Oak?" Kyo lifted his head up and batted his tired and heavy eyes.
"What is this plant?" Oak pointed his finger at one of the images that sprawled it's self across the page. "The name is smudged out as if some one tried to erase it."
Kyo released a heavy sigh and pushed himself up off the floor and left the book he was reading to hold down his place. "It looks like a... hmm..." The elf scratched at his forehead as he dug at his mind for the answer, "Oh...it' a Amaryllis, Amaryllis belladonna is the scientific name. It's a pretty flower."
"Hmm... I like it," Oak said with a smile " I think it's my favorite flower so far!" Even though he shared an equal favoritism with all plants and animals, this one stood out the most to him.
