-A soft inkling of reassurance touched her as her best friend stepped alongside her, tail wrapping about hers in a silence that spoke volumes.
But the soft soothing that touched the golden lioness soon faded as the obviously frantic and unfamilar lioness skittered before them. Spilling out words that took Kami a long moment to dechiper.. perhaps more out of shock then the actually speaking of them.
Mufasa... fight.. When suddenly the important words clicked, her eyes widened, stepping forward almost as if she were about to bolt.- "Dad!?"
-Fearful eyes quickly flicking back to Ta the look enough to give off the silent message. She was going, she had to help him! Talking was only slowing them down.-
-Xu felt nothing but relief as they escaped the sounds and confusion of the night, beginning to wonder softly if it were simply a bad dream. Though the ache in her chest would say differently.
Body curled contentedly within her mother's familar grasp, the little one was only drawn back into the reality of the situation as she was abruptly settled onto the ground, her mother's paniced words touching the air. And despite the fact that very few of them made sense, the tone sent a shiver of fear through the ivory cub, and she crept closer into her mother's paws, sniffling unhappily.- "I wanna go home momma."

Mufasa's daughter? Ausi's eyes suddenly held room for empathy as she looked over the princess and her companion. It occured to her that there might be a disturbing sight waiting for them when they finally reached the king's side-- be it the stranger's condition, the king's, or both, but there was no room to be picky about who helped and who didn't, and Ausi had Xu to look after.
"Please, there isn't any time to loose, I'll get more help." Ausi cringed, Mufasa's last bellow of pain still rippling freshly through her memory. She took but a few moments more to collect her breath, then leant down again and took Xu back into her jaws. Urged on by her little one's words. She'd wake up Daimyn, he had experience in this area. Who else could she tell? Someone had to alert the queen, of course. She could decide who else to send of the others, hopefully it wouldn't be too late to help Mufasa drive the intruder away.

Ignoring the other female for the time being, Ta'Ziyan held eyes only for Kami, though this time it was not about the love, it was the study of her features. He searched her soft ruby eyes as she relied the message to him, and slowly after a moment he let out a nod.
Stepping closer, he nuzzled her lightly and whispered in her ear a quick message, "I will always follow you, Kami."
Pulling back, he turned finally to Ausi and looked at her for a long moment, "We will return, and Mufasa will be by our side." He knew that it was a bold statement, but he strongly added, "I promise you all that, I will bring the king home." With that, he turned back to Kami, and softly lowered his voice to a soft tone, "We must hurry Kami, and we must be strong..." Waiting, he let her lead, ready to follow her to hell if he needed to.

-She'd have went without him if she needed to. But words couldn't even begin to explain the relief and swell of confidence that burst through her as he spoke and agreed. Had she gone herself? Perhaps she'd been dragged into fight. But with Ta beside her.. her worries were free to fall upon her father and not herself.
Her mind was a flurry of thoughts, horrible thoughts that flooded as her ears and eyes flicked towards the direction of the last cry, body pulling forward in a bounding leap before she took off, ignoring the grass blades that stung at her paws as they slapped against her force. Perhaps it was rude to not say goodbye.. or thank you even. But Kami felt no regret as the black lioness and her babe dissapeared from her sight. Only the sounds in the distance, and the thought of the form that was to be following her touched her mind.-

She put faith in Ta's words, though she'd never met the younger male before. She wished them all the speed and courage that she could for their task.
Beyond that, Ausi waited just long enough to see them both off, then turned for Pride Rock once more and began to run with Xu in tow.

Surprised with her reaction, as well as her bounds, Ta'Ziyan had no time to thank the female, for fear of losing Kami pushed his paws out and his limbs forward. He pushed hard to catch up with her, taking quite a bit of energy to do so, and even as he slowed they still were at an even sprint.
He glanced to her from the step and a half behind he was, still leaving her to lead though prepairing himself for the cry that would soon occur. Starting to get tired, he noticed the grasses growing in length, and braced himself as well.
It took only a moment for him to see the waters, and a large form of a rogue standing over some sort of form. Slowly slightly, he swallowed slowly before rushing to catch with Kami once more. As long as that rogue was there, he would not let anything happen to Kami.

-The king said nothing at all as the demon spit words of malice upon him, speaking of the disgrace he was littering the king's body with. Something so trivial didn't matter to him, and though it stung, the warmth trickle of blood touching his cheek. Noone here knew the mark that the demon babbled of, so it was of no consequence. And everyone know that the only one that 'owned' him so to say was the palely beautiful beast that reside sleeping in the dens this evening.
Eyes squeezing shut with pain more striking then the affliction that was going on at his cheek, his mind flickered back to his mate. Would he make it back to her? What sort of pain would he inflict onto his poor queen if he did..? If he didn't?
His attention was drawn back as the assault began on his tail, cring running up his spine as nails danced a painful trail along his backside, and finally as Nyek's "trophy" was procured another loud bellow of pain sounded through the dark night.-
-As the golden lioness neared the wateringhole her scent was assaulted with something other then the familar touch of water. Sweat.. blood.. the familar scent of her father. And it only drew her fear further, her whole body beginning to tremble gently, though it was all happening too quickly to think about whether she really wanted to happen upon the scene.
When a familar bellow sounded, she bounded close enough for the scene to come in view in the distance, tears of terror touching her eyes as Ta came to stand beside her. She did not heed his caution however, her own voice calling out across the distance.- "Daddy!?"
-He almost thought he was imagining it.. voices of the past touching his ears more in memory. They did say that things flashed before your eyes when you were near death.. and he certainly felt pained enough to be near there, with the beast still ravaging his body.
But no.. he could smell her very faintly, and the distress and fear in the call.. She was around? He couldn't see her, but he stirred gently, trying to turn enough to do so, calling out in a raspy and weak voice, pained from the cries that'd proceeded it through this dreadful evening.- "Kami? Go away! Get home! It's not safe." -Who knew if she even heard it. Please let her have heard it.-

The scents brushing his nose as well, Ta'Ziyan moved faster and stepped ahead, and as Kami let out a call, he stepped up once more in an effort to protect her, his form rising on the hill and showing none would get away with attacking the princess while he was around. However, his eyes touched the scene below, and as he heard the king cry up, he started to shake as well, though this time in unknown anger.
All at once, a roar sounded from his maw, a sound he had never heard from himself, and he stepped once more to cry out to the lion before him, "Get away from him, Get away NOW!" His maw parted in a dangerous snarl, his whole body fuled by the sight of the king and by the horror he felt from the female beside him. Fur standing on end and eyes ablaze, he stared right at the rogue, his claws extended as growls emmited loudly from his form. Though he knew he could not survive in any sort of battle if the king could not, Ta'Ziyan knew fear would not save his life, only strength and appearance would.

The salmon lord chuckled lightly. "Heres your cavalry goldie." He smirked looking back at the wide eyed kami his own golden orbs smirking.
Hearing the roar behind him Nyekundu rolled his eyes but he knew full well he was in no condition to fight. Despite the king being elderly he had put up a damn good fight. He respected the old lord for that, perhaps he wasn't such a meagre rival after all. Of course, that didn't mean he wouldn't put him out of his misery, slowly.
With one final dip of his head he took hold of the great kings belly and tore away taking with him a mouth full of fur and flesh before he leapt over Mufasa and grabbed the little peice of memorabelia. "Sleep well old king" he glanced one last time at the two lions on the crest of the hill, his golden eyes flashing a deep, menacing red as he fled away from the scene, he limped slightly, and no doubt when the adrenelin wore off he would have to rest and clean his pale fur of the scratches and gouges the old king had issued.

-The last assault sent another pained groan through the old king but in truth the emotion that waved over him the most heavily was relief as the demon turned. He was leaving the lands finally.. and that atleast was a blessing. Kami was safe.. the cub..
His eyes rolled gently to look for the white cub, to find nothing in the place she'd been resting. Apparently she'd scampered off or something? At the moment it didn't matter.. She wasn't with the beast, and that was good enough for the time being.
Using his three moveable legs Mufasa curled himself gently, trying hard to disertain the actual damage aside from the pain. His leg.. it wouldn't move.. his body stung from skinny clawmarks.. though those weren't so deep. It was the dull ache that rocked him mostly, and the warm trickle of blood that slipped from his deeper wounds. His shoulder.. his tail.. his belly just below his chest.. and his neck to.. though the only sign of those lie in the matted auburn mane.
Staring widely at the bites.. so deep that fur and skin no longer remained.. but just flesh.. muscle.. it looked so much like that of an antelope.. or some other prey animal that he was actually humbled silent, seeming to forget those that stood above him.-
-Her shuddering and gentle tremble was visable even from the slight hill, unable to pull forth the strength and courage that Ta so thankfully did. Her red eyes bore holes in the beast, etching his face and pelt into her memory.. a picture that would likely torment her dreams in the future.
But as soon as Nyek turned to leaving, bounding off like a coward with someone golden hanging from his mouth, she broke off forward herself, rushing to his side as her father began to curl.
Reaching his side tears immediately burst from the young lioness, trying hard not to look at the scene before her. Trying hard to keep back the angry thoughts. Trying hard not to just fall in an emotional heap by the king and father that she admired and loved so much.
But why had he done it? Why was dad out so late at night, always wandering around? It wasn't fair. She'd just gotten him back.. and now... and now... to lose him. There was so much blood around.. he had to be dying.. she couldn't imagine it any other way.
Settling herself on to the ground, in an attempt to keep the heavy weight of emotion and thought off of her she lay her head gently against his neck, wailing for lack of better words.- "Dad. Are you okay?"

Keeping the cold, hard glare at the rogue, Ta'Ziyan shifted close towards Kami as he watched their exchange with their eyes. However, his heart stalled as soon as Nyek took the final blow, and his paws stilled and seemed to just join in with the ground. It was clear even from their distance that that wound would not heal, the blood spilling.
However, as Nyek also left, Kami rushed past him, and Ta was forced to just stand stilled at the crest of the hill, his maw shut and his eyes wide and wild. The sight was finally sinking in, and he wasn't sure just what right he had with anything. Words shifting past his ears, the blure of Kami crying next to her father's dying body was something he had no idea how to answer.
So, as he thought of how to help, he glanced to where the male ran off, and noted the direction to inform any who were interested. At least than he could focus on that when the time came to explain just what happened. If only they had gotten there earlier, but the thought of him being in the king's place haunted his thoughts, and he let out a shiver. Now was not the time anyway.
Padding slowly down the hill, hje kept his far distance from the two, leaving their space to bond with what little time they had left. He had never quite seen eye-to-eye with the king, and he knew that because of that, odds were the male wouldn't quite welcome him to interrupt or any such thing. Instead, he just kept a close eye on Kami, and on the bleeding wounds that, if they wanted more time, were in heavy need of a cleaning.

-The sound of words drew him back gently, the old king furrowing his brows at the effort it took to bring his attention, and slowly his eyes to his daughter. But once they were there, his young and golden reflection staring upon him with terror in her eyes, it all became easier. Familar smile creeping upon his maw he offered a comforting lie. He seemed to be lying more and more these days.- "I'm fine Kami. No need to worry."
-He attempted to shift his tired body, but it was too soon, the pain racking him again as if he'd been struck, and he curled gently once more. Sighing a little softly he let his eyes wander past the lioness and to the dying night sky above her.- "Just let me rest for a moment."
-Her mouth openned to protest, but she stalled herself before the words could slip from her. On one hand she wanted to scream at him. On the other she wanted nothing more then to comfort him and change things.. rewind the night and keep him from going. Why wasn't mother here!? Why didn't she know what to do...?
Her tail lashed violently, the only sign of her emotional turmoil and the bubbling confusion and dismay building within her. Ears flattening softly, she nudge up against his cheek, whimpering this time.- "No... we need to get you home as quick as possible.."

Watching the scene with sad eyes, the male said nothing, did nothing, not even breath or so it seemed. The whole interaction seemed sacred for him, and after a moment he fidgeted before letting out a soft sigh. Padding closer just slightly, he caught Kami's whimper as well as her words, and just bowed his head like a submissive servent.
"The wounds need to be cleaned before he can move, or else he might not survive the journey...and there is no way he would walk himself...someone would need to carry him..." It was a soft murmer, and the male lion just silenced after that, waiting.

-Mufasa didn't argue with Kami's sentiment, truth be told he wanted nothing in the world more right now then to be back at priderock. To lay on the familar stones next to the lioness he loved more then anything as he ascended.
And it was that thought that hit him hardest. He knew he was going.. he could feel it.. But.. he didn't feel so far gone that it'd happen this moment. He would be able to make it back to his love wouldn't he? To nuzzle against her cheek one last time. To fall asleep to the soft beat of her heart.. a rhythm he knew the beat to simply from memory. To apologize, and try to keep the tears from her blurring eyes for as long as possible?
A loud wheeze of emotion escaped him, the unfamilar sound of a sob escaping the golden king, words touching the air in a hurried whimper.- "Kami.. if I don't make it home to you mother.. tell her.."
-Her pain turned to anger as she glanced back at Ta.. an emotion so undeserving for the poor boy, but it took her a long moment to realize that.. To understand that he was trying to help.. and that his words were more then just a painful twist into her heart.. words she didn't want to hear.
Eyes falling from the copper male in soft apology and sorrow she turned back to her father as he began to talk, hushing him harshly before he could finish, tongue finding it's place at his shoulder.- "Just stop it. You can tell her yourself"
-Cringing at the metallic taste.. and the soft thought of it's cause, she continued on dutifully, hoping that Ta would guide her.. for she had no clue what she was doing.-

Her burning gaze caught him off guard, so much that he stumbled back a few steps in surprise and pain. Lowering his eyes to the ground, he rethought his words and saw his mistake, and missed her silent apology. It was hard, he knew it, and he suddenly was pushed away just as he should have been. Once again, he had no right evading on this personal moment, so he kept his distance, and looked everywhere but the two before him.
As her words spoke up, he glaned back to see her cleaning his would, and just watched for a few moments, gaze and face clearly paling at that sight, as no words escaped from his maw.
