Lorelei smiled at the sight, watching the little creature push soft pancake into his cheeks. Vanna giggled as well, hopping up and trying to sneak towards the little creature. She got on her hands and knees, crawling over to him. Her face was smeared with dark maroon jam and bits of pancake.

"Oh, Vanna, do leave him alone!" Lorelei called out, but she couldn't help but let Vanna go, curious as to the mole's reaction.

"No, no." Ki pushed the mole to the end of her knees. "It's good for him to see other people and be out in the open. It kills me that he's so antisocial all the time." She reached out to toush a strand of Vanna's hair. "She's so pretty."

More giggles from the fey girl. Her back feathers swayed in glee, and she grinned. "Sank yuuu!" she cooed, standing up and toddling over to Ki, giving her a big, messy kiss on the cheek.

Then she promptly went back to her new friend, reaching out her fingers for him to sniff, wanting to pet him. She remembered how skittish Ash had been, though, so she tried to be gentle.

Van Dien put up with the small girl's petting better than he did from other people. He didn't struggle, but he didn't lean into it either.

"I hope this little guy grows soon enough." She sighed. "But I'll give him the time he needs."

"How long before we reach some civilization, or lack there of as you put it" she smiled. "how long do you think?"

"Oh, I'm a terrible judge of distances. I think, though... yes, if I remember hearing my father's conversations with his shippers before, we are a month or so out of Tempranillo now. Maybe a little more. It all depends on how fast we move, I suppose. And since we escaped from Twiggle, I think we all want to move slowly and enjoy the fresh air."

Vanna stroked his fur carefully, giggling. He was sort of kind of soft. Sort of like Ash, but different. She liked him, definitely. She grabbed a pancake awkwardly from the plate, tearing it up and offering him a piece.

Van almost bit the small girl in his haste to get at the pancake. He appeared to have quite the appetite, and the small girl feeding him was the only one paying him any attention. With a short squeal he moved off Ki's lap and into Vanna's hands.

Ki leaned back and sighed. "Yeah, I guess. Though I do tend to miss some of the business of a town." ... ... the trees were nice too. "I'll be glad either way I suppose... with Van still in his animal form I've not really got anyone to talk to."

Vanna laughed. His little feet and mouth tickled! She made sure to have quite enough pancake for him, watching him munch away.

Lorelei watched her daughter with a faint smile for a moment, then looked back at Ki. "Well, perhaps you'll feel a little more inclined to come out of your shell? I could always use company at meal times."

She waggled her finger knowingly. "you know...I could use a shell. It would hurt less when I walk into things." She smiled again. Sometimes people thought that her humour was strange. "I'd be more that happy to join you for mealtimes. It would mean that I'd get good food every once in a while."

meanwhile Van Dien rooted around for more food in Vanna's hands. He was quickly becoming accustomed to this pancake holder.

"Be careful what wishes you give voice too," Lorelei commented mockingly, holding up a finger. "We may have left the trees, but the faeries might still be around, just waiting to turn somebody into a tortoise.

"But even if they do turn you into a tortoise, you are always welcome here."

Vanna laughed harder, kicking her feet a little. He was eating up the last crumbs now, and the way his whiskers tickled-!

The small mole tweaked his whiskers and rooted around for that very last crumb that must be hiding in there somewhere. He squeaked his displeasure at the lack of continuous food.

"He's going to get so Chubby, the little piggy Mole there." She once again found herself shaking her head at her 'son'. "he eats whenever he gets the chance and then when he's not eating he's not doing anything else, so he never gets any exercise." She glanced at Vanna. The small child seemed so energetic and lively.

At the squeak, Vanna accidentally dropped him into her lap. She looked up at Ki, sheepishly, worried that she'd hurt the boy somehow.

"Well, I don't think you can really take moles on walks," Lorelei mused. "So perhaps it is best to wait until he's a child to take him outside to play."
