Jun Kazama from Tekken: She's strong and never says what we're all thinking... which is that her son suxorz.
Ling Xaiyou from Tekken: She pwns.
Larxene from KH: COM: She's completely the best. She's strong, funny, and loves Axel.
KOS-MOS from Xenosaga: She's so coldhearted (or just android...) and good at fighting!
Male:
Hwoarang from Tekken: T3h sechs, great moves, and he hates Jin.
Riku from KH: Nice Keyblade, nice a**, nice all around.
chaos from Xenosaga: Hell-oooo! A gay, shy God with booty shorts who's bathing suit matches his best friend's! Heckyes!
Axel from KH: Such a good friend to Rucksack...

I really like Lulu from Final Fantasy, and Lara Croft, so for girls it would be a tie between them.. For a male character... hmm... maybe Nemesis from Resident Evil, i think he rocks.

Samus Aran, Tifa Lockheart, Lara Croft (to some extent), Ayla (Chrono Trigger...she's cool.), Rydia, Bleu (Breath of Fire, SNES), Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent, Cecil, and Kain.

Albel Nox from SO3. He's a very cool character, handy in battle with an interesting past that leaves things open for debate.

The character from Shadow of the Colossus (he had no name). Even if he was used, and his desires abused, he was desperate to revive the sacrificed girl. <3
Female:
Probably... Samus. One of the first video games I played was Metroid for the Super Nintendo, and I've always loved Samus. <3
