Well. We don't have a specific place to sit. But at least sit with the section. But most of the time, we'll sit in a spot and that'll be our spot for the next two years anyway, so no one complains. And besides, the teacher will make whomever play whatever part depending on is he thinks they're good enough. Bleh. It's stupid. But. Whatever, I guess. *shrug*

At my middle school we were really tough for seating. we had auditions like three times a year to switch seating around. I was always placed second, and I really wanted first. In my high school we choose seating the first day and it sticks for the rest of the year. It's like whoever's more aggressive gets the worm. Upperclassmen bully underclassmen. >.<

as long as we sit within a the same section she doesnt care. But once concernt time comes: we have to sit by chair. (which means I hardly ever have to sit on the end!)

Eh, we used to have a seating order, but nobody ever sits where they're supposed to. I mean we still stay in our sections, just swap seats.

We used to have "chairs" but our band director got rid of that. sad Because of that, my not-so-friendly-friend gets to play a higher part because I don't have enough guts to speak up. SHE'S SO MUCH WORSE THAN ME! I've been in the top band for one more year than she has! UGH! It makes me so mad!

t3h_haNakosamA ours does i think (i dont know about class tho, most likely they do) the chairs are arranged funny tho....example: trumpets, first chair is in the middle, then 2nd on the left, 3rd on the right and so on i think.....its so confusing.....my friend tried to explain it to me but i didnt understand >.< trumpets are set in the middle of second and 3rd so second and 3rd could here the firsts and follow them with their musicality and dynamics

those of you who dont have a seating order...thats bad sweatdrop its disorganized and musically disfigured. im sorry but its the truth..im not trying to be mean here ok? but yea. why dont you guys try to organize yourself taking the best player as principle, 2nd best as 1st 2nd, 3rd best as 1st 3rd and so on, then fill up the chairs from there. i dont know but thats how we do it so theres a strong player on each part you know?

We have to sit with our section, but we don't have assigned seats. It's pretty much just 'sit somewhere in your area'. And somehow the Tenors always seem to lose our spot....

I don't know what it's like up at the high school, but in middle school we always had to sit in our chair positions unless it was a day off and we were watching a movie or something.

AquaWater During concert band, my band has to sit in ordder, but for marching band, it doesn't matter as long as we are in our section and generally with our same part. About the same here.
