Jenova would make a good mother if she wasn't so paranoid about her son killing Cloud... Well, maybe she still is, but Seph is somewhat of a momma's boy because of her... Then again, if my mother was a scary-lookin mutation that had supernatural powers exceeding my own along with mind control, then I'd be a momma's boy too.

She loved sephiroth..but she wanted him to destry cloud!!!! so she sang to him everynight to show her love for him,and hatred for cloud and his companions...because she saw the future A Mothers LullabyWTF is people's problem? have you not played through enough of the game to realize JENOVA IS NOT HIS MOTHER..... >.< it's lucretia with hojo being his father. him being injected with her cells doesn't make jenova his mother. good grief. If I shot you up with heroine when you're a baby, does that make heroine your mother? i guess not now huh?

Considering the post above this, my opinion is the following:
No, she fails, as she HAS NO CHILDREN.
Also Lucrecia Crescent and Hojo are Sephiroth's biological parents, they got their groove on. Hojo did not get funky with an alien. JENOVA's cells were injected into Sephiroth while he was developing in the womb.

Hm...very cool video and it definitely makes sense concerning Jenova's relationship with those infected with her cells.
However, as to Jenova being a good mother, that...doesn't really make a lot of sense. Sephiroth never really had a mother at all.
WARNING: DIRGE OF CERBERUS SPOILERS AND FF7 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
*cough* Anyway, Lucretia dumped Vincent and had a baby with Hojo. When she was pregnant, Hojo injected the fetus with Jenova cells. This gave Lucretia a hard time with the pregnancy, but she eventually gave birth and survived it. After Sephiroth was born though, Hojo immediately took him away and as soon as the child was able, he began hardcore Soldier training. Stressed about never being able to see her son and depressed about what she had done to Vincent in an effort to save him, she commited suicide.
Sephiroth, never knowing Lucretia and probably never knowing she'd even died, continued becoming an incredibly powerful Soldier. He quickly rose up in the ranks and life continued on until the fated mission to Nibelheim. Sephiroth was about 30 years old when he discovered the documents in the basement of Shinra Mansion. The knowledge of his creation drove him insane and weakened his mind to the point where Jenova was finally able to get ahold of him. Unlike Cloud, however, he was largely left to his own devices and so went to destroy the planet, convinced he was using Jenova rather than the other way around.
In short, Sephiroth had no idea he was partly Jenova until he was 30 years old! What kind of mom is that?

Final Fantasy VII can be a tricky game to understand, but the above is the theory that I stand by.

As several people in this thread have pointed out, Jenova is NOT Sephiroth's mother. As most people that have played through the game or have gotten far enough into the game know, Jenova is no mommy. All she, or rather it, is is a hostile alien lifeform who's sole purpose is to destroy a whole Planet, occupants included. Now, if she was destroying the Planet for the sake of her 'children', then sure I'd probably sympathize. However, she has had this Master Plan(c) several millenia BEFORE the game began.
To me, this says something.
And her actions don't help her win any "Mother of the Year" awards either. During the Nibelheim incident, Sephiroth was under the impression that Jenova was his mother when it was really *spoiler!*Lucretia. Afterwards, Jenova encouraged him to continue to think of her like that, convincing him that everyone must die so that they can go to the Promised Land. She even gets him to summon Meteor for her. Fastforward to AC: since poor Sephi-poo pushing up daisies, there are THREE silver-haired men that want their 'mum' back: Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo. Needless to say, she makes little to NO EFFORT to show any love for them. Actually, most of the work is done by Kadaj, with the aid of Tweedle-Yoz and Tweedle-Yazoo.
Even though she wasn't Sephiroth's birth mother, she was still a bad 'maternal figure' in his life. Using one's children to summon a space object to obliterate a Planet, and then later have them manipulate children infected with some wierd disease YOU CAUSED, aren't the brightest of ideas on "how to prove my children love me :B" Especially when said kiddies die.
