The_Crazy_Muffin I always tap my foot, even when we aren't in band. The songs get stuck in my head... sweatdrop If tapping your foot is the only way for you to keep tempo, then the heck with what your BD told you. 'Twould be better for you to keep tempo and tap your foot than be off beat. me too!!! like, when i'm listening to the radio or a cd or something (has a concert tonight!!! xd and it's my last concert at this school crying but i'll be in high school next year so xd )

I can't remember if I posted sweatdrop but...my private teacher always taps his foot, several times he asked me to tap my foot (I suck at timing sometimes) and I end up tapping my foot to what ever note I play! If I try to do both tapping my foot and playing at the time my foot either follows what I play or I mess up. redface I only tap when I'm not playing ::cries:: -miyoko

Tapping your foot is good for rhythm and crap. I don't see anything wrong with it. xp

I don't see why your director would have anything against tappiong your foot. It's a must have talent in a lot of bands..I can't do it...I just watch the Director...and count in my head...This kind of sucked with marching band...you must keep time with your feet.

I tap my foot occasionally. Mostly it's just when we're sightreading. My band teacher also says not to tap your foot (but, he doesn't say that it's for babies, he just says that we're better than that).

Usually I start out a song tapping my foot, and then eventually I just stop becasue I've got the tempo down by then.
But my stand-mate/best friend keeps stomping on my foot to keep it from tapping because it annoys the heck out of her. She's just jealous cuz she can't manage to tap her foot and play at the same time. XD

dude, your band director is an a*****e. tapping your foot is the MINIMUM for us.. otherwise we have to count each and every beat on our rests, tap our fingers (index and thumb) (not while playing ya doofus) or say "tic tic tic tic tic" in time with the metronome. i'm a junior in the first band at my high school. maybe it's YOUR director that should grow up.
