Taras walked over the large field of snow with his socks starting to get wet from stepping into the knee high snow. he looked back to see if Naiyu was ok walking in the snow, but she seemed to be faring better then him as she walked with ease.

taras moved to a point where the town was easily in view and then stood, the night sky was over head and the town was even brighter now. taras looked up to the sky at the moon, you could see no stars only the half moon.

"beautiful"

taras said to himself then started to stare into space.

taras smiled down at her. but then shook his head and said to brake the dream like moment.

"we should get to the town before the cold gets to us."

taras walked on and it wasn’t long before the town was upon them. it was lit bright and there was large steam pipes came from the ground to warm the whole town.

"most likely those pipes are the makina that keeps the town warm on this continent that’s why there is not many cities or homes here its mostly for the rich that want to get away from monsters and the politics of the other continents."

taras wasn’t really telling this to Naiyu, but he often spoke his thoughts out loud just a habit of his. he walked over the snow as it slowly became stone ground that was for the city.

"well, ill let you lead the way Naiyu i have nothing to do here, by the way did that man help you. do you have a goal now or anything?"

taras almost fell over at the sign of Naiyu wooing a room of over zeles men and getting a lot of money form just doing that and a bit of a lie. taras shook his head and looked at Naiyu. he had not relished it till now but she was intact quiet beautiful for her age. he blushed and looked at the hand full of gil and whispered to himself.

"is this the way she always dose things?"

taras then counted the gil, there was a fair bit and he followed Naiyu in to the bar and they sat at the main bar pulling up a stool. all around the bar people where gambling with cards and other games like dice and some with knives.

"Naiyu, i don't really have any plans, but do you mind me travailing with you, at least till i find my own path. i mean, i don't know if you have any plans but its nicer then being alone."

taras just got water and some bread and meats to eat he finished far after Naiyu and was a bit shocked that there was anyone that scoffed food down like that, but he got up and finished his drink as fast as he could.

"ok, we can go if you like but you should keep some of that money as we will need to get a boat or something to get over the sea unless you plan on staying in the glacier continent?"

taras looked around the bar and the man had one eye on there gambling and one on the two of them, it seemed Naiyu was right about them bothering her.

"errr, maybe we should give them all there money you have on the other hand."

taras looked on as they took her away but then he quickly stepped in and walked out of the bar and pulled his stone club from his side.

"you want to be putting her down now friends. What say i get your money back for you?"

he stood up straight and looked at them, they all turned and smirked and giggled as they said.

"and how will you do that? i mean, it was a lot of money, must be what 10,000gil."

that was far to much but taras was not worried about that, he smashed his club into the ground and said.

"fine, let her go and we will give you the money by sundown, hell you can even tag along if you like."

they looked a bit shocked and said in a confused manner still holding onto Naiyu.

"How are you going to get that money?"

"how else in this city, gambling, but the more illegal kind of bet. i know there is a monster arena around here somewhere and you look like the types to know where it is. ill enter and you can have the winnings."

they laughed and walked up to the small taras.

"And if you lose?"

"then you will have to take your money form Naiyu then."

they nodded and led the way to the place that they might find a monster arena. taras move closer to Naiyu and pulled her from the men saying.

"don't worry, I am not going to run off"

the men surrounded them and just kept walking. taras leant over to Naiyu and whispered so they wouldn’t hear.

"when you can, make a run for it."

taras walked off as he looked at Naiyu she was a kind one but taras was not scared fighting is what he did. he was greeted by a group of silent men all waiting to fight, taras didn’t know what they where here for, to fight each other or something else. a tall well built man came up to taras.
"You going to challenge today small frie?"

taras didn’t take offence to his words but he nodded and walked past him only to be stopped by his hand.

"you know you could die in there, no rules."

"thanks, but I am ok, taras is the name."

the man shook his head and write the name down. all the men in the room looked at him there was only three others but they looked strong. taras sat next to one and he looked down.

"What you doing here kid?"

"going to win"

"oh really. good luck, hahah"

the door opened with the roar of the crowd and the first man stepped through and someone called his name. a moment later the man came back on a stretcher with two broken legs. taras didn’t look, the man in front of him looked freaked and walked in slowly. the man next to taras walked over and looked through the cracks in the wooden door. after a minute or so, the next competitor was called. the man next to the door backed off and said.

"that guy just got eaten alive out there, I am throwing in the towel."

the man walked off and the man that was calling out the names soon shouted out that spick, the terror of the snow had forfeited.

"Your up kid"

taras walked to the door and it open to show a sandy floor with a large stone roof above and hundreds of people cheering.

"and this new kid is taras. Woooooooooo!"

a man with a mike said as taras walked in and pulled his stone club from his back. taras looked at the flute and then put it in his pocket.

"what I am i fighting?"

taras looked up as the monster as it took big steps shacking the ground with each. taras didn't move and the monster opened its big mouth and roared at taras salver hit his chest and he grinned.

"bring it on"

the crowd went dead as the monster finished and didn't move. then suddenly breaking through that moment of silence the rusted metal of his blade came down at taras and taras started to glow with a red aura. with fast speed taras ran through the monsters legs and jumped onto its tail just short of the metal spikes at the end . the monster stomped about and roared more. taras ran up its back and pulled his stone club from his back. jumping on its shoulder he swung it around and hit its face. it growled as the stone club slid back to taras side. his eyes looked funny as the stone blade had made his vision slightly blurred with blind. taras jumped back away from its shoulder.
The monster did have its vision blurred but it was still able to see taras were he was. the large fist of the monster came down impacting with tars body, the back of its claw was as big as him and tossed him aside. he hit the ground and bonced once as dust picked up and hit him but it wouldn have seriously hurt taras, that hit.
