katrea took a large mouth full of water then filled his gourd to the top before closing it and heading to where Ikki was.
"indeed we should know everyone’s job before heading out."
a man with blond hair and sun glasses walked out and tied a bandana around his forehead before speaking out.
"I am the driver and most of the others are guards except this guy"
he pointed at a man with a turban and sunglasses on.
"This is the co driver just in case something happens to me he would drive. he sits next to me in the van."
katrea looked around, the men seemed inexperienced and all held hand guns.

Ikki looked around.
"Alright, You driver dont stop for anything but make sure you drive safe. The Co-driver will watch out for other routs and you better have that pee-shooter out the window shooting."
Ikki took another assesment of the group. And picked out the three biggest men.
"You guys...will stay inside with the cargo and be ready at a moments notice incase the truck gets stuck. Everyone else will ride on top of the truck and shoot at anything that comes near. Katrea, you get the fun job of taking out anything that actually makes it on."
"We normaly take a slow safe pace an..."
"And thats why you always fail. There could be thousands of Sand Crawlers and what not out there and no offense, your not trained...trained well. So what do you think Katrea? Sound alright?"

katrea nodded and jumped on the van and waited.
"Lets get this going then without anymore delays."
katrea sat ready and got his sword out and held it at his side. the man ran to where they where told. katrea sat there ready and the driver started up the car.
"Lets go Ikki."

Once Ikki was on the van it took off heading for the town, out the door, that shut behind them on a chain system. At a fast speed they headed over the desert, but before even getting out of sight of the cliff, the van got stuck. The driver shouted out in irritation
"Dam this, why did we go the long way."
Katrea looked down and it was only the back wheel that was stopping the van. He jumped down and said in a fast action.
"I got it just get ready to floor it."
Katrea gripped the back of the van and started to lift.
"Your mad no one man could lift it. even the back of the van and with cargo and full of people, theres no way......
The van started to lift as Katrea pulled up. Some of his wrappings on his arms snapped as his muscles bulged out.
"NOW!"
the driver did it as fast as he could, almost scared. The van moved through the sand again Katrea breathed a bit heavy but was soon running after the van. Katrea was about to jump onto the back but from the sand something started to borrow under the ground, upturning sand as it moved under it like a mole would.
"What is it?"
Katrea jumped onto the van as fangs bit at his feet. He avoided for now but it was after the van next.

One shot rang out. Ikki stood at the edge of the van with a new two handed gun he picked up at the gun shop. It was a shot gun. He cocked it and looked around. He saw a dunes the drive would have to drive between. Ikki handed the gun to Katrea and took out a rope. He slowly move to the edge of the fast moving van.
"Dont stop. Keep shooting."
Ikki took a step back and fell off the van. He stood up and brushed himself off. Was it really needed? Not really he just wanted to have some fun. The monster directed it attention to Ikki and charged him. Ikki quickly ran up a dune and jumped onto the monster wraping the rope around its head. It tried to throw him off and wouldnt go where he directed it.
"Fine have it your way."
Ikki grabbed his knife and rammed it into the monsters back. He fought with it bringing it on one of the dunes as the van drew nearer.

Katrea looked on and smiled saying to himself.
"Crazy but skilled"
Katrea then ran to the side and lent over for a better view of the monster what was that thing. It jumped from the sand with all its anger running at the van with Ikki on it, a Dual Horn with red and yellow freer. Then from the side of the van a second jumped from the sand barging the side of the white van.
"Dam it!"
Katrea shouted and cocked the shot gun and fired at it blasting of one of its horns just ticking it off.
"Ok, I am going down, keep going"
Katrea jumped off the van and slashed at the Dual Horn, forcing it down and Katrea rolled to a stop. Ikki and the van shot by heading for the town. Katrea got up and faced the Dual Horn’s their jaw had silver dripping to the sand. one jumped at Katrea.
"Come on! I got you."
But then from the sand a giant Abyss Worm swallowed the duel horn whole.
"An Abyss Worm, this closes to the coast, that’s crazy. Well this must be one of the big things stopping the van I should guess."
Katrea readied his sword and thought to himself. *some time I hate my line of work.*

Ikki watched as Katrea was just insight as they reached the town.
"He isnt to far...I could still get shots over there...I wanna see what he can do."
As soon as the van got into town and stopped Ikki got off the van and saw the man they made the deal with. He wipped the sweat from his forehead and walked up to the man.
"I bet we made record time didnt we? Alright then wheres the cash?"
"Why dont you just take it as a good deed for the town?"
Ikki reached for his guns, which he only had one. He must have lost one in the fight with that monster.
"Why dont I take it out of you?'
"Oh come on im just joking I have your money, Ill double it since everyone made it back saf...hey where is that other guy?"
Ikki looked back to the dessert and smiled.
"He had some extra work."
The man handed over the money which Ikki quickly put away and walked away without a further word. Ikki climbed a building on the edge of town to watch the fight Katrea was in.
"Im sure he can handle himself."

Katrea twisted his sword around his body and jumped at the worm. Katrea bit his finger and in lighting fast speed writ a kanji on the blade in blood. The engravings on the other side of the blade started to light up.
"Liquid steel"
The blade had water form around it and make up a longer water blade, it was lit by the engravings on the side. As Katrea went head first at the worm its jaws curled around him and came into swallow his whole body. Then he was gone as the jaw shut, suddenly from the neck Katrea sword pocked out of the flabby skin and twisted around in a 360o spin. The head of the warm came flaying off landing in the sand. The body was still up right with Katrea standing in the neck and his legs pushing down on the slimy fleash. Some saliva dripped from Katrea’s hair and down his scarf’s ends. Katrea jumped from the huge thing and it fell limp to the sand. he then walked to the town trying to get the saliva from his clothes and hair.
Once at the town he looked to the roof where Ikki was standing. he then held out his hand and said with a grin.
"My money please."
He looked to the docks that could only just be seen through the tents and buildings.
"Time to head for the mist I think."

Ikki laughed a little and handed him his cut with a little extra. DS now had enough money to buy those 50 cal. handguns he wanted question was could he handle them.
"Well you didnt die so I guess I dont get to keep it. Right then lets get going before that boat...that...is leaving...leaves...Hurry lets go!"
IkkI grabbed his stuff and ran for the boat.

Katrea ran after Ikki as he ran for a departing boat.
"Yo, wait."
it was too late Ikki had jumped on the boat and Katrea had to follow, he ran around people trying not to bump into them and he almost fell over a few time before getting to the boat. It had just pushed off from the dock as Katrea made a jump onto it next to Ikki.
"I hope you know, there would have been another in an hour or so"
A small man walked over to Katrea with a yellow grin and said.
"Hope you got gil on you boy."
"Yes I got gill, what is it."
"1200gil"
"Ok. Wait are you that sailor that i met when the crazy dark knight attacked me."
"Eyyy budy and i don't want to see any of that madness again you hear."
Katrea nodded and gave the man the gil the old guy then walked over to Ikki with his hand out.

Ikki rubbed the back of his head and looked at Katrea.
"Yeah I was in a hurry I owed that old lady money and only had enough for the boat."
Ikki payed the man the last of his money. Ikki left out the bit where he bought the guns.
"Again broke...ah well. So we're heading for the mist..."
Ikki himself didnt have a destination and Katrea had already taken Ikki north but Ikki would hang around for awhile.
"I never really asked you but whats your reason?"

"My reasons? Well there is a few, first I should tell you about me. I think you are a good guy Ikki so, I don’t really mind telling you. You see about one or two years ago I found myself in a dark cave. I could remember my childhood, all the way up till I met this woman then I couldn't remember any more, until the cave that is."
Katrea looked out to the sea and sighed.
"But it’s not like it worries me its just, first I met this old woman that said I still had something to do and that my past is catching up on me. then I met a dark knight he was strong, really strong. he was looking for something called the shadow Orb and then in the sand cave yet another man saying I had some sin to repay for."
Katrea the pulled his wrapping down a bit from his eye and rubbed it.
"I don't know if I want to find out but i feel like I have to."
Katrea looked at the sea as the clouds past by.

Ikki looked at the water passing by.
"I see, I...dont really have a reason to live. Im looking for a man as you know but thats only because he has somthing that is mine. Once I got it back, I dont know what I would really do with my life. I guess thats why I not searching for him Im just waitng to run into him somwhere."
Ikki smiled a little.
"Im sure whatever you did wasnt that bad."

Katrea then thought about it deeply and said.
"Maybe I did it to myself, so no one would find out this thing. Not even me."
Katrea then yawned and starched out with his arms pointing to the sky and hands clenched.
"Well I am going to get some sleep so you can do what you like and that goes for your life too. Find this man take back what is yours then find something you love and fight for it."
Katrea then lent on the boat side and slid down to the wooden floor. He then closed his eye and pulled his scarf up to give him some more warmth.
