Lilith stole forward into the darkness, towards a group of torches illuminating the position of a main guard. Those visible in the light counted to six, two on a thrown-together wooden tower, two as messengers or backup behind the fence, and two patroling the outside perimeter within ear shot of the first four. It was these last two that she concerned herself with. Foremost, they were the easiest to reach, being outside the fence. But also, they walked in and out of dark shadows, allowing for some privacy and cover at first contact.
She approached one quickly, choosing a moment where it seemed that no one else was looking. This was not too difficult, considering that the two in the tower seemed oddly concerned with the sky. Lilith was swift and at the man's side in an instant. After a few hushed seconds of talking between them, the man gave an excited gasp and gestured to the other guard to come over to them. He'd never heard of being discreetm apparently, and so his gestures were spotted by the guards in the tower almost before the other guard on the ground.
"Who's there?" a gruff male voice demanded from the tower, clear to Morgan from that distance.
More faintly: "Jay, get down here!" The guard next to Lilith gestured more wildly than before. "It's one a them women I told ya about!" he hissed.
By the hopeful sound in his voice, one might think that things were going well... But Lilith was backing away and towards the trees.

Morgan inched forward on his perch, musing briefly that he was rather grateful for his light weight. The knives were clutched tightly in his fingers, ready to be thrown at any signal from Lilith.
Where was Jack? He snuck a brief glance around, but could not pinpoint the location of the commander. No matter. He focused his attention back on Lilith. "What are you planning?" he purred softly to himself, taking on an almost catlike stance as he awaited her move.
The men did not seem to intend her harm... Rather, they seemed excited, almost reverent. Interesting. But why would she back away? Morgan scanned the surrounding area for what may have been the source of the woman's tentative reaction. A sorcerer, perhaps? A bowman?
"Who's there?"
Ah. That would be it. Morgan's eyes shot to the tower, scouring the area for this "Jay". Perhaps it was one Lilith had not anticipated.

As Jay came close enough to see Lilith, he said, "Take her in, boys."
"I'm just here with a message!" Lilith protested, and though Jay's hand was on his sword, he hesitated when she pulled out a rolled scroll tied with a red ribbon.
"Give me that," he demanded as he soldiers stood in bafflement, not sure whose side they should be on. As Jay's gloved hand clapsed on the scroll, Lilith bolted back towards the woods. "Hey! Ring the bell! What the hell?"
His soldiers were running after Lilith, except for one who knocked the butt of a sword against Jay's head. It didn't knock him out.

"That's our cue," Morgan chuckled, drawing back his arm. "Come on, then." His wrist flicked forward, sending the tiny knife shimmering toward the soldiers. One man fell, taken through the neck by the blade.
Morgan quickly readied another. "Jack, whatever could you be planning now?" he sighed, flinging the knife. "Do you intend to have me sit in this tree all day like a silly little bird?"
"Goodnight, soldiers," the black-clad Demere sang cheerily, watching with mild interest as a soldier collided with one of his neatly-slain victims. "Do sleep well. Beg pardon, but I rather think that it's within my job description to keep the Commander's dearest sibling alive, don't you?"

All that was left was the man who had hit Jay and nearly been beheaded by the other man's sword. Now he knelt on the ground with his hands over his head, as if they'd help more than his helmet. "Stop! Please!" He wasn't sure if the man in the trees would kill him, too.
Lilith was at the base of Morgan's tree. "Good!" she shouted up breathlessly. "Enough! Get your a** down here!" Pft, as if he could read her mind and should be down there already!
"That soldier is ours now--" she hoped-- "And we've got to catch up with the rest! They're going to be looking for us when these guards don't report!"
Meanwhile, the others had arrived and met up with Jack, and now Jack led them to the guard post where Lilith and Morgan were. As far as they knew, every thing had gone well, so they walked quietly so as not to spook any soldiers.

"As you command, lady," Morgan replied agreeably, swinging his legs over the side of the branch. Pushing himself off with his arms, he landed neatly in a crouch at the base of the tree. "Good day, sir! Well met, well met, indeed, though I do apologize if I took a swipe at you. Never know where your foes lie." He winked.
"Now, then! Where are we headed, dear Lilith? And where in blazes is that brother of yours?" He stowed a spare knife in his coat, sauntering forward. "Although, I must admit that I'll rather miss this tree. I'll have to come visit it again, sometime." He cast the tree an affectionate glance.
Having finished the last of his "clean up", Morgan turned his eyes to the soldier. Hmm. Odd time for a man to turn on his commander, but... Every friend that could be found would most certainly be worth something.
"You can get up, you know," he informed the man with a grin. "We don't plan on making you lick our boots or anything... Unless Lilith wishes it, I suppose. Myself, I prefer to polish mine in more sanitary ways."

The poor man started to stand up slowly.
Lilith grunted in disastisfaction. "I am sorry about the others," she told the soldier. She started to lead them deeper into the woods for a little more cover. They'd created a hotspot and an opening in Feretris' defenses. "Do you wish to fight or wait for us?"
"Fight...? I... I hardly know what's going on," he protested breathlessly.
Lilith bit her lip at Morgan. "He's right. Doesn't know the plan. We gotta get him back to the horses--"
It was then that the others caught up, following Jack's memory of where he'd sent Lilith.
"Just one?" came Tony's voice, slightly troubled. He could see a little better than the others, and so was appraised of the situation first. "Jefe, get him to the horses," he ordered swiftly. It sounded more like a request, but the boy he pointed to jumped like it was an order.

"Poor fellow," Morgan sighed, throwing an arm about the man's shoulders in what was meant to be a comforting gesture. "What a day, hmm? I know the feeling. Usually it tends to hit on Monday for me, though."
"Ah, our fearless Tony, and dearest commander Jack!" the odd young man grinned in welcome. "Just one, yes. I'm afraid the rest decided to go the hard way." He shook his head solemnly.
"We did miss you during our scuffle, Jack." Morgan scolded suddenly, frowning. "It would be most appreciated if you would outline your plans just a little more carefully for me. I hadn't the faintest idea what was happening. You really cannot afford that on a mission such as this, dear commander."
A slight pain pricked his palm, suddenly, and he looked down to realize that he had forgotten to stow the remainder of his knives away. Bothersome. He glowered irritably at the hole that had sprung into existance through his previously flawless black gloves.

Tony frowned at Jack. "I tried," Jack replied with a shrug.
Tony turned towards Morgan, but it was clear that he addressed the whole company with his hushed whisper. In the background, the hapless guard was led away to the waiting horses they had left for retreat. "Two companies will go out in a reverse wedge, attempting to infiltrate and surround the fortress as much as possible before we are seen. We have three bundles of explosives that I have selected men for setting. I was hoping that you would be willing to be one of the first out, slightly ahead of the wedge, to dispose of guards and scouts. I heard that you are good with throwing knives..."
Tony glanced significantly at the knicked glove. "I and a few other power houses will be a little behind the wedge, as back up for the retreat. There's no use trying to hold the fortress even if we kill or capture every one inside. I'm not looking to get besieged, but to hurt their resources a little. There's supposed to be grain stores and other food in there, as well as the prisoners who we hope are sympathetic to our side.
"In the case of a hasty retreat, you will probably see fire and other mass destruction rained behind your running backs," Tony chuckled. "Ready? It's about time to attack...as soon as I get your scouting reports."

"Reverse wedge, explosives, all hell breaks loose. I have no objections." Morgan waved a hand flippantly. He toyed with the frayed edge of the tear in his glove. "Simple. I like it. I do hope you do not have any expectation for all of us to survive this, commander. Their security is tight, and their powers great."
He grinned roguishly. "But without the risk, there's no rush. If you desire me to be in the front line, I will happily oblige. Front or back, makes no difference to me. I'm honored you think so highly of me." He laughed quietly to himself.
"Scouting reports, hm? What is it you wish to know?" he inquired. "Architecture, schedules, weak points?"

"Every man expects for himself to survive, but no man expects his comrade to do the same," Tony pronounced solemnly. He knew that not every one would make it, and the thought troubled him. His was not a heart made for war, but neither could he stand idly by while his friends and countrymen went in.
Once it was established that he would like Morgan on the front line, Tony requested specific information from their observations: "How many guards near, and where--"
"None near any more," Lilith informed him. Tony nodded, knowing that they would have to move in quickly.
"Physical barriars? Could you see the fortress from here?" No, in the dark, only the torches on the fortress' sides could be seen.
((OOC: you can move them in after he gives whatever report!))

"How very philosophical," Morgan hummed, briefly scanning Tony's face. Obviously not a soldier by choice, but in such times, one must do what circumstances require. Filing his observation away in the back of his mind, he turned to Jack. "The lady is correct. The soldiers have been dealt with, and there is no immediate threat to your forces."
He continued. "However, if we move closer, or even stay here, they will be on us faster and thicker than flies. Their sorceresses would give your dragon a run for his money, and in numbers would have no trouble dealing with him. It is a well-guarded facility you have chosen to infiltrate, dearest commander," he informed them.
He turned to Tony, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Do you have means with which to counter a defensive sheild? Even if they decide not to go on the offensive, they excel in powerful sheilding techniques."

Tony nodded. "We have several talents in the group...I appreciate your suggestions, but we are running out of time. We need to strike now, if every one is ready. All of those capable of magically defending the group will be in the back, but for offense and destruction, we depend on individuals such as yourself."
"We do not plan to be there long," Jack breezed in. "Tony will mostly likely be the one to call the retreat, and trust me, you'll all hear it." A short burst of sound passed as a nervous laugh. "Dragon speach is in your head. Get in your groups quickly now! We're off!" Tony was already guiding Morgan to his suggested group.
