My opinion is Stuart Townsend for JC, but that is my opinion.

Well... technically, some of the books could be considered soft-core porn... sweatdrop Not that I'm complaining!
But the important thing to note on the whole movie issue is that LKH has outright said that she won't let them make movies out of them unless the director will stay true to her vision, no matter what the studio thinks. She hasn't found a director who would do that. It would be kinda cool if a rich director happened to be a fan, and was willing to do that...

*snickers* Well, if they stuck to what LKH has written, then it'd be soft-core porn. I even quit reading ID for that reason biggrin Well, that and Nat. Idislikehimsomuch>_<
Dude. Stuart Townsend is hot. xd I could happily drool over him playing my vampire sex god. He was the whole reason Queen of the Dammed was good. That and the soundtrack is to die for <3

I'd like to see movies IF they could acually do a good job of it. If not it would be a HUGE disapointment.

NOOOOO!! Please no.... Ah...I have never ever seen a movie that captured the whole point of a book. I mean there are good movies that actually portray a books main point. (Harry potter was okayish and so was LOTR) One of the best parts of reading a book is imagining a character the way you want to and to read the little funny episodes of pointless stuff that is funny but gets left out in movies. (I mean, whatever happened to Sharky at the end of LOTR RTK????) The last moive I saw in theaters was Ella Enchanted (quite a while ago) and if anyone had read the book then they will know that they director basically butchered it. I shudder to think what an Anita movie gone wrong might look like. eek There's just waaay to many things that could go wrong. Neko_Kitsuni FenrisVollmond Narniakat I would love to see an Anita Blake movie if it was as true to the books as the first two Harry Potter movies were. Err, probably not the best statement. None of the Harry Potter movies have been terribly true to the books. There are holes that somene who's read the books would know and somene who's just seen the movie would be going, "huh?" Kind of like the Lord of the Ring movies too. Yup. There are a lot of character descrepencies, which I find to be the most irritating point between movie and book. For instance, I had a friend who hated the Lord of the Rings movies because of the fact that Faramir was tempted by the Ring in the films, and not in the books. If you read the Harry Potter books, Hermione is much more extreme in her... particular attitude quirks. However, I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the Lord of the Rings movies and thought (for the most part) that the editing didn't hurt the film. I was slightly less enamoured of the Potter films, but still, I thought they were decent movies. My concern is if the Anita movie(s) turned out like the Vampire Chronicles. For those who haven't read the books and seen the movies... Interview with the Vampire was decent, though Tom Cruise as Lestat was strange. Queen of the Damned, on the other hand, was the world's most thorough butchering of a book series ever. They tried desperately to cram two books into one film, and in the process deleted certain characters, left extreme holes in the plot, and made bizarre changes to the characters. Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah had amazing performances, but Antonio Banderes in a bad wig as Armand the cherub boy? scream *shudders* Anyway, to get to the poiht... an Anita film would really be hit and miss, depending on who worked on it. It has a lot of potential, but at the same time... think of all the things that they could screw up...

I completely agree about Ella Enchanted... that was... *twitch* stressed AIEEEEEEEE! The book was so clever, and the movie was so... so... *twitch* sweatdrop stressed scream gonk stare As for Return of the King, its possible that Sharky will be in the extended version that comes out in December. (50 minutes of extra footage. blaugh 3nodding xd xp heart ) Edit: Thank goodness LKH said she won't let a director make the movies unless the director will do what she wants... biggrin

I would love to see an Anita Blake movie. Unfortunately, it would be difficult for it all to be done right. I doubt it will ever happen, but I will keep on dreaming. ;D

I really think a series on HBO would do the best justice to the series. The violence and sex could be shown and it could have a never ending show as opposed to a two hour movie.

Really, it depends... If they butcher it, I really do think the director would have a mob of Anita Blake fans set on lynching him/her. Pitchforks, torches, the whole thing... sweatdrop
But if, somehow, through some miracle they managed to do a decent job that would be pretty cool...
If it does happen, anyway. Laurell k. won't agree to the movie unless she has veto power...
It would be nice, if they didn't ruin the book in the conversion. Thing is, she'll probally never have the time to do it. She does write alot.. That woman's a writing machine. Incubus Dreams was tome-sized.. sweatdrop

I agree with the whole no more after the ardeur because that would turn the movie's into too much of a porn with a really good plot. But other than those I like the idea of having the books turned into movies of course it would be really hard to find actors that fit the characters.

Narniakat Oh it would be great as an HBO series. That way the violence & sex wouldn't be cut out. It could be the sex of Sex & the City, the violence of the Sopranos, the paranormal activity of Carnival & the drama & comedy & death of Six Feet Under. It would be something for everyone biggrin . 3nodding I agree with that.Itd be better as a HBO series.I mean, with the movies, thered only be so many, and they would have to leave parts out, otherwise itd be way to long. But as a series, they could take their time and put in everything from the books.Im kinda inbetween at the moment,as I havent give it much thought, but Im sure that if it did come out as a movie that Id be sickened by the adds,go out of being a loyal fan,be disgusted, buy the DVD,never watch it and let it gather dust while I read the books

MysticMayhem After what was done to Mysts of Avalon, I cringe at the idea of anyone making a movie from an Anita book. And a Made-for-TV series would be a disaster. They'd never be able to capture the raw sexuality that surrounds Laurel's characters, and it'd be so watered down to appease the conservative masses that it'll end up being nothing more then a Buffy-remake. Just think, Jean Claude reduced to a Black-haired Spike. Werewolf costume effects similar to Oz, A Xander-like Edward whose only purpose is to be the wise-crackin' sidekick, and Anita herself, whining nonstop about not having a "normal" enough life. Not to mention the very likely possibility that Anita will end up with Richard in order to give it all that "Happily ever after" feeling. Blah! Just thinking about it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. gonk gonk gonk gonk GAH!!! THAT IS THE STUFF OF NIGHTMARES ::shudder::
