"Yes, really. Like... like your tears were hayfever too, kind of hayfever." Elle looked away to quickly wipe them on her clothes. There. That was better.
"So..." Elle wanted to ask about the GMFC thing. She had been wondering about it, and felt kind of bad for running away like that. "So. Um. How have you been?"

Luna giggled behind one hand. Hay fever. That's a good excuse.
Ah... She bit her lip nervously. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to run off. It was just... the little girl was-- and you-- well... She wrung her hands, struggling to get the words out. You didn't have to look at them too.

Elle flushed red at the last bit. "I wasn't really looking at them, I just... it's nice to see that you're older. And growing up. And you're practically my age now nearly, which is weird. But that's what it was, I just... I just noticed all of that."

"But it's good that you're growing up now. It makes me kind of proud, which is weird, but it does." Elle wrung her hands slightly. She felt bad now, she'd felt like everyone was staring at her when hers just...sprouted. "And it isn't that bad really, you'll get used to all of it."

Everyone thinks, Luna explained. Everyone makes noise. Everyone feels. Everyone makes noise. It's louder and louder now. When I was younger, it was... manageable. I could hear, but nobody was screaming. Now it feels like everyone is screaming. It's so hard to take.

Luna tilted her head again, one eyebrow quirked.
I like hearing you. And I'm talking to you. You don't have to try and stop thinking.
With a small sigh, she sat back down on the couch and clutched the pillow to her chest again. I don't know how to turn it down. If I could, I would. But if I block it, I won't be able to speak, either. She hesitated a bit, trying to think of how to describe it. Imagine... that everyone talked. All the time. They say everything that pops into their heads. "I'm hungry." "I think my 'friend' is stupid." "I want to be somewhere else." Everyone. Even people down the street or even, sometimes, if it's loud enough, far away. And they never stop. You can cover your ears, but you'll still hear them. Dozens. Hundreds. Maybe even thousands of people, all talking at once.

"I don't know how you can stay sane like that, hearing all of that. It would drive me totally nuts." Elle tried to imagine what it'd be like. But she had no idea, there had to be thousands of Gaians. It sounded painful.
She winced for Luna.

It's not that bad, Luna clarified. I... don't know what I'd do without it. She smiled a bit at Elle, absently twirling a lock of hair around her little finger. It's hard, but... I think I'll manage. It's just hard now. Maybe... Maybe once I stop feeling so sensitive, I'll stop being so sensitive!
