That it will never come again
Is what makes life so sweet.

Emily Dickinson

Sell your possessions, and give alms: provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Luke 12:33-34

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music- the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.

Henry Miller

Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord. If ye walk in my statures, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

Leviticus 26:2-5
The King James Version

He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities- all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things; whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Colossians 1:15-20
The Revised Standard Version

No one who has become part of God's family makes a practice of sinning, for Christ, God's Son, holds him securely and the devil cannot get his hands on him.

1 John 5:18
The Living Bible

The soul of the Christian religion is reverence.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

He who pursues righteousness and kindness will find life and honor.

As in water face answers to face, so the mind of man reflects the man.

Proverbs 27:19

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1:3-4

The will of God for your life is simply that you submit yourself to Him each day and say, "Father, Your will for today is mine. Your pleasure for today is mine. Your work for today is mine. I trust You to be God. You lead me today and I will follow."

Kay Arthur

It is not the number of books you read, nor the variety of sermons you hear, nor the amount of religious conversation in which you mix, but it is the frequency and earnestness with which you meditate on these things till the truth in them becomes your own and part of your being, that ensures your growth.

Frederick Robertson

Righteous lips are the delight of a king, and he loves him who speaks what is right.

Proverbs 16:18
The Revised Standard Version

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them; yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

Anger will get us whenever we violate one of these three principles: not too quick, not too long, not self-centered.. While Jesus became angry, he focused that anger on injustices done to others and not on slights done to him.

Let never day nor night unhallowed pass,
But still remember what the Lord hath done.

William Shakespeare

God's delight is in the communication of Himself, His own happiness to everything according to its capacity. He does everything that is good, righteous and lovely for its own sake, because it is good, righteous, and lovely.

William Law

The great flaw in the American economic system for the past four decades has been an unrealistic faith in the power of prosperity rather than in the ultimate power and benevolence of God.

Billy Graham

Sometimes when your child talks, your friends cannot understand what he says; but the mother understands very well. So if our prayer comes from the heart, God understands our language.

D. L. Moody

But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

1 Timothy 6:11
The New International Version

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

Colossians 1:9-12
The New International Version

The Israelites were not to work on the Sabbath- not even to cook food. Why? God knew that the busy routine of daily living could distract people from worshiping him. It is so easy to let work, family responsibilities, and recreation crowd our schedules so tightly that we don't take time to worship. Carefully guard your time with God.

Unknown

Just as the sun can be blotted out by an eclipse, so moods of pessimism and doubt can plunge us into spiritual darkness. At times our situation may seem so desperate that we think even God Almighty can't carry us through. But let's not doubt God's all-sufficient enablement. He will carry us through life's darkest hours.

Vernon Grounds

No one is so rich that he does not need another's help; no one so poor as not to be useful in some way to his fellow man.

Leo XIII

How easy is pen-and-paper piety! I will not say it costs nothing; but it is far cheaper to work one's head than one's heart to goodness. I can write a hundred mediations sooner than subdue the least sin in my soul.

Thomas Fuller

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21
The King James Version

The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body- whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free- and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

1 Corinthians 12:12-13
The New International Version

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Colossians 3:12-14
The New International Version

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

The King James Version

Prayer is not eloquence, but earnestness; not the definition of helplessness, but the feeling of it; not figures of speech; but earnestness of soul.

Hannah More

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn't change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn't change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.

God speaks to us through our desires, then as we lay them at His feet, He helps us sort them out and quiets our hearts to accept what He has already prepared.

Rosalind Rinker

Almost all our faults are more pardonable than the methods we resort to hide them.

Francois La Rochefoucauld

Faith is a loving response to God's invitation.

Elizabeth Randall

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

Proverbs 14:16
The King James Version

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

John 13:34-35
The Revised Standard Version

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

Psalm 42:1
The New International Version

And as we live with Christ, our love grows more perfect and complete: so we will not be ashamed and embarrassed at the day of judgment, but can face him with confidence and joy, because he loves us and we love him too.

1 John 4:17

Dear young friends, you belong to God and have already won your fight with those who are against Christ, because there is someone in your hearts who is stronger than any evil teacher in this wicked world.

Prayer is the very highest energy of which the mind is capable.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Christianity, if false is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.

C. S. Lewis

God never uses the obvious; He uses the most unobvious.

J. R. Ricks

To God there are no small offerings if they are made in the name of His Son.

A. W. Tozer

I sometimes think we expect two much of Christmas Day. We try to crowd into it the long arrears of kindliness and humanity of the whole year. As for me, I like to take my Christmas a little at time, all through the year. And thus I drift along into the holidays- let them overtake me unexpectedly- waking up some fine morning and suddenly saying to myself: "Why, this is Christmas Day!"

David Grayson

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart. What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem; not to mention that Friday at Calvary.

Joe Gatuslao

I am convinced that, many times, the one thing that prolongs our trials is our refusal to give thanks with a grateful and contrite heart.

Bonnie Ricks

The word "joy" is too great and grand to be confused with the superficial things we call happiness. It was joy and peace which Jesus said he left men in his will.

Kirby Page

Our real blessings often appear to us in the shapes of pains, losses and disappointments; but let us have patience, and we soon shall see them in their proper figures.

Joseph Addison

Spend plenty of time with God; let other things go, but don't neglect I AM.

Oswald Chambers

All this and heaven too.

Matthew Henry

Everyone needs recognition for his accomplishments, but few people make the need known quite as clearly as the little boy who said to his father: "Let's play darts. I'll throw and you say 'Wonderful!'"

The Best of Bits and Pieces

We ought to act with God in the greatest simplicity, speaking to Him frankly and plainly, and imploring His assistance in our affairs, just as they happen.

Brother Lawrence

Pray the largest prayers. You cannot think a prayer so large that God, in answering it, will not wish you had made it larger. Pray not for crutches but for wings.

Phillips Brooks

God's gifts put man's best dreams to shame.

For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God's goodness into us!

2 Corinthians 5:21
The Living Bible

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10
The New International Version

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.

Ephesians 2:19-20
The King James Version

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'" From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

John 1:14-18
The New International Version

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise; When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being! raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife; And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son; and he called his name JESUS.

Matthew 1:18-25
The King James Version

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. That thy trust may be in the Lord, I have made known to thee, this day, even to thee. Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge. That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Proverbs 22:17-21
The King James Version

You have made known to me the path of life, you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalm 16:11
The New International Version

For ever, O Lord, thy word is firmly fixed in the heavens; Thy faithfulness endures to all generations, thou hast established the earth, and it stands fast.

Psalm 119:89-90
The Revised Standard Version

And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Jeremiah 29:14
The King James Version

Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him accoridng to his exceeding greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with timbrel and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Psalm 150
The Revised Standard Version

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Matthew 5:43-44
The King James Version

Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor." He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

Mark 6:4-5
The New International Version

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

John 14:12-13
The New International Version

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thus the chastening of the Almighty; For he maketh sore, and bindeth up; he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

Job 5:17-18
The King James Version

I hope no one minds me adding something on here. But it really helped me see some things.
Ezekiel 16:4-15
This is, to me, the ORIGINAL Cinderella story. No happy ending. The Prince saves this girl from a grusome death. He takes her in and treats her like a princess. He even marries her. But in her own vanity and popularity, she rejects the Prince's love and attention because she doesn't realize that without Him she is nothing. This helped me out in a lot of different ways. It made me realize that I needed to treat my ex better (and hopefully he'll forgive me and let us be together again), it made me realize how precious our relationships with God are, and it just helped me open up my friend's heart to the light smile It has a sad ending, but it's true that we can get too proud and forget Him. Just wanted to share that with some people.
