My thinking is that the type of person who wants to be a prison guard is out for power, so it's only natural that they pick on inmates. I'm not saying all of them are like that; I'm sure some of them just need the job and are friendly with the people they guard, or they know about the bullying by other guards and want to help keep that in check, but in general I'd imagine that someone who actually wants a job like that has a bossy and authoritative personality.

Like they went through police academy but they weren't good enough to be patrol cops so they got assigned guard duty HAHAHA!!!!
