For once, a tiny smile crept onto Rosette's face. Blaise reassurance of Chrono's safety seemed true, but still left her feeling wrried. She'd been lied to all too many times in her life, so to hear a promise that sounded genuine to her was new.

"Good, once I know he's safe, I'll do whatever you guys need me to do."

Blaise rubbed her forehead stressfully. “Ah, yes. Now she complies.” She said quietly. She looked up to Rosette and saw her small smile.

“Who knows, maybe Khnui will be your friend’s trainer. I hope that might help with progress but if you get distracted it’s my stave in your back.” Blaise warned, then looked up to the sky. The rain was, if possible, beginning to get even harder and it was getting colder and Blaise was already cold as it was.

“We had better get going Khnui. I might start training her tomorrow, but it really depends on what happens tonight. If I do start to train her tomorrow, I hope I’ll see you around. I would appreciate the help. Training her ought to be a real treat.” She said sarcastically and walked away while waving a goodbye.

He nodded to Blaise. "Well, first we got to get Rosette out of the rain. You do that while I get the supplies we need." He said. He looked at Rosette. "Don't worry, we'll get him out. Blaise and I are probably the best there is, but first I need to ask you something. What does he look like?" He asked her. It is kinda hard to get somebody out when you don't know what they look like.

"That's the easy part! Well, he's a bit shorter than I am..." Rosette paused shoving his height with her hand. "His skin is tanned a bit, but he should stand out with that purple hair of his. If they haven't cut it, its really long, and braided with my yellow ribbon on the end. His eyes are red, and his name is Chrono."

Rosette knew the way he looked and Chrono's mannerisms all too well. You couldn't help but learn those kind of things went you spent years around a single person.

Blaise turned back around to see that Rosette was still talking to Khnui. She heard her describing what her friend looked like and Blaise made a mental note to remember how she described him. Blaise rubbed her cold arms for warmth but her sleeves were already soaked through so it wasn’t making much of a difference.

“Finished yet?” she called, “You know, I’m not going anywhere tonight if either of us gets sick!”

Blaise began jumping up and down, feeling like a total idiot, trying to get her blood circulating. She jumped around in a circle in place and as soon as she turned back around she saw Vader and a group of his friends walking towards her.

“Great.” She mumbled to herself. They got nearer and stood in front of her with their arms folded.

“Why weren’t you in the ring today?” Vader said hoarsely.

“Lieutenant called me in. Newcomer. I gotta train her.” She replied pointing over her shoulder to Rosette. Vader leaned over to get a better look at Rosette then stood back in his place.

“So,” he continued, “Why not have a go right here?”

“Ah, no. Look, I’m cold, I’m wet, and I’m not about to create a spectacle especially with Rosette standing right behind me. The only time I sparr off duty is in the ring.”

Vader gave a chuckle and his friends followed in suit. Blaise rolled her eyes. She couldn’t believe this guy had a posse.

“Alright,” he said, “No deal.” He turned around to walk away but it was just a fake out. Just as soon as he turned he came back around with a punch. Blaise blocked it with ease and whipped her stave out of her sling, twirling it expertly. Vader came at her once more and she blocked the attack yet again and hit him in the gut with the end of her stave. Vader fell back into the mud and Blaise held the stave to his neck keeping him pinned to the ground.

“Not a chance.” She smirked. She lifted her stave up and Vader’s posse helped him off the ground.

“Now, get lost.” She said in threatening tones. Vader stood there for a moment grudgingly, but ran away as quickly as he could when Blaise lunged at him. She watched them run away with a smile on her face and turned around to see if anyone had seen their little spat.

Riana waited impatiently for Blaise to finish her little spat with Vader. The second the defeated posse ran for it she was striding forward, fire in her eyes and purpose in her steps. She stopped with a flourish of her tree colored cloak directly before her FF Superior and pulled the deep hood away from the short spikes of her black hair, immediatly but uncaringly giving the rain a chance at her.

"What the hell Blaise. That's just a girl. You can not be serious. I have not trained my whole life to guard some snotty girl pinning for her boyfreind!" Unconciously she had drawn one of her slim longknives and was twirling it in one hand. Finished, momentarily, with her tirade on Blaise she fixed the girl with a glare to crack boulders.

The rain now making small rivers down her forehead she had to force herself to clear the water from her eyes and resume her rant at Blaise. "If thats the Messiah I have vowed on my brothers death to protect I doubt the future. Can you prove me wrong?" It was true, she had fought hard to become an Expert so she could fight alongside and protect the Messiah who would lead the world to freedom once more. Shaking the rain from her hair she replaced her hood and resumed a glare from beneath teh shadows of the stout fabric.

"Bullocks, is all I have to say to whatever you are going to say," she stated smartly, cutting off whatever Blaise would want to respond at all. Sheathing her knives expertly she streightened and assumed her full slim profile in a semi dramatic pose, one eyebrow arched. "I envoke my rights now to be her sparring partner. I can get her toughened up, no problemo, if you say shes worth it. Or was it Lieutenant?!" she exclaimed, shocked at the fact she was bugging Blaise when it was his fault. "He knows this is what I've worked towards and he would not even tell me?! I AM the most valuable spy you've got and shurefire to save the Messiah's hide while he....she is saving the world. What is his problem, I swear sometimes I doubt hes the one that planned to save me and helped trained me up for gods sa..." stopping she aquired her famous half smile and looked back at Blaise, already perciening the sharp retort she would get for her cockyness. With a releasing sigh she looped her thumbs in her belt.

"For honest, Blaise, this is what I want and you know it. Khnui is gonna squash her on accident or something anyways, and I wont hit her too hard," she half pleaded with that mischevious light back in her hazle eyes.

Blade and Chalice
[ I am late, yes...but here is my character. Fear and love his awesomness! xD ]

Username: Blade and Chalice
Name: Tax
Age: 17
Rank: Villager
Appearance: He stands at 5'8" with a youthful, but sharp, face and milky white skin. His wild black hair is tied back into a ponytail with a length of twine, and ends inbetween his shoulder blades. On his right hand, the ring and pinky fingers have been severed. His clothes are simply that of a white poet's shirt, tanned leather breeches, and worn grey boots. He holds a strange allure about him, like that of a black cat on Halloween. This sentiment is always reflected within his smoky topaz eyes.
Preferred Weapon: While untrained by any sort of master, Tax has taught himself meditative defense maneuvers similar to the art of Tai-Chi. Thusly, he can alter the flow of his enemy's attacks to diminsh the likelihood of being harmed. Some things, like brute force, he cannot handle and it is hard to regain back control if he has lost it. But as for weapons, something he can combine within the movements of his style (like a staff) is best.
Attitude: He holds a mastery of being evasive, both physically AND emotionally. Behind a calm and somewhat apathetic mask, he is tormented just like all of the souls of this realm- yet is rare to show his anger. He likes to imagine a kindredship between all the Monarchy oppress, to have something to hold onto in this world. And he greatly respects and reveres women, though by his antics some could say a little -too- much at times.
History: Having never met his parents, Tax had always just assumed they were killed before he could grow to know them. He was raised by an elderly women until she was executed for the crime of supposed uselessness, whereafter he took to a life of wandering from village to village. He had seen soldiers do horrible things to the citizens, the far worst being the rape and murder of a small girl that was around his age. It is a memory he cannot forget, explaining such protection he will show to females. Helping within a town as much as he could, running away was the only thing he felt he could do when things became chaotic by the Monarchy's meddling. At a time when he tried to defy a soldier, the loss of two fingers was the result. Most recently, he was forced to witness the brutal hacking and dismemberment of a family with many small children. Not being able to contain his terror, he vomited at the sight and thus has been sentenced to prison with a possible execution.

Nah, your not late. I just got bored one day and couldn't help but start!

Blaise stayed quiet for a moment making sure Riana was finished.

“Wow, word sure does get out quickly.” She began quietly. She looked up to Rosette with a steady gaze, “Yes, I know she’s just a girl. The Lieutenant even said himself that it’s only a possibility that she’s the Messiah. There’s still that chance that she isn’t. I do know this is what you want more than anything in the world but knowing you you’ll hit her harder than you tell me you would. The Lieutenant wants me to be her trainer because he said she’s, in a way, like me. He said that she’s got emotion though I’m not quite sure about that bit. If she’s got as much emotion as the Lieutenant says then she sure isn’t showing it. The Lieutenant said that she is much like me, but I see no similarities.”

Blaise paused for a moment and looked to Riana seeing the impish look on her face.

“You have no rights to invoke with me, Riana. When I feel she is ready then I’ll push her your way, but until then she’s mine. Just ‘toughening her up’ isn’t going to cut it. I don’t know how I’m going to do it but the Lieutenant wants to see my form and technique in her. It’s impossible, is what I say. Everyone develops their own form and technique that is true to their character, it shows who they are when they fight. Rosette’s just going to have to develop her own like I did. If I try to teach her my style, boy is she going to be screwed up. I don’t know what character the Lieutenant sees in my fighting but he favors it till no end. He wants to see it in every newcomer. That’s why he puts me with the most promising ones. Unfortunately they’re the hardest to train as well.”

Blaise looked back to Rosette with sad eyes. Riana was right. She was just a girl. It was in every aspect of her mannerisms and appearance. She had no idea what she was going to do with her.

“You know, I would use the ‘I’m too old for this’ excuse but it doesn’t quite work. Truth be told I’m one of the youngest Mage Superiors here and I end up teaching people that are older than me. That’s what I hate the most. I’m so underestimated. They usually just laugh in my face and say, ‘okay, where’s your mommy?’

“My mommy’s dead, how’s that for the grand answer? It’s almost unbearable the way people treat me. I’m not a kid anymore. Sure I’m only fifteen, but I’ve seen too much to keep on acting like an adolescent.”

She sighed and wringed out her wet hair though it didn’t do much.

“I’m sorry. I’m probably boring you, I just started rambling again. And you know me, once I get going there’s no turning back.” She smiled.

He made a mental note his head about her discription of the man they were going to rescue. He sighed heavily when he saw Blaise fight Vader and beating him. Soon rolling his eyes as he watch Riana rant at Blaise. "I think you should come to my place for a bit. I have a forge there so your clothes can dry and you can get warm." He said to Rosette. He then called out to Blaise. "I'm taking Rosette to my place, you can come and get her when you're done with Riana." He sweeped his arm in the direction of his home. "This way Rosette, it isn't all that far from here." He said.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 09, 2006 10:37 pm

"Hold on a minute!" Rosette said angrily, taking a step closer to Riana. "First of all, you have no right what so ever to insult Chrono. And he's not my boyfriend! If I explained what he really was to you, you'd be forever disgusted just at the sight of me, got that?! And don't just shoveling me back and forth at your leisure and treat me like a child! If I'm as important as you people seem to think I am, youcan't go easy on me. I'm sure as hell that anyone who's against me for real won't go easy on me. I want to be pushed, I want to do this right the first time. If I have to do this, I have to learn it the right way. Because the way I see it, if I don't, I die."

Rosette tugged on her hood a bit to cover her face better.

"And he the only remnant of my old life that I have. That last bit of what I can consider normalcy; to help me remember what I'd otherwise forget with time..."

Blaise just stood quietly at the sight of Rosette’s little anger rampage.

“Well,” she coughed, “That’s going to be a bit of a problem. So you want to be pushed, aye?”

Blaise tossed Rosette her stave and stood a good distance away from her.

“Hit me.” She said. Rosette didn’t move, but continued to stand there.

“You heard me, hit me!” she demanded but Rosette still didn’t move. Blaise shook her head and took her stave back.

“Get used to hitting people and get used to getting hit. Physical pain is only a part of training. Emotional pain is a whole other world. If you want to be pushed you’ll be experiencing both at once instead of one at a time like I usually teach. Don’t feel bad for hitting someone because it only adds to the emotional damage.”

Blaise slid her stave back into its sling across her back and pushed her wet hair out of her face.

“I’m heading home. If Rosette wants to go to your place for a bit, Khnui, that’s fine by me. I’ll come get her when I’ve got a place set up for her set up in the guest room.”
