Kami really didn't mind that Ray was silent, it actually was better to her in a way. Watching him come back with a box of animal crackers in small hands, she grinned widely at him. Of course, what a great idea! "Wow, Ray. Thanks."

With that said, she began pouring the tea into cups, red orbs on the table for a few moments as she concentrated on the task she was doing. Finishing it up, she looked back up to Ray and Bloo with a childish grin at them. "Do you want to take the cookies out for me, Ray?" Soft giggle, small hands behind her back. This was just the way to forget the bad day that she had with all the other Simu.

Watching the two play as she sat on the couch next to Emme, smiling to herself as her pink haired Simu poured the tea into the cups. It's always so fun to play with her, Kami and Jareth were her light in her sky, Pata just didn't know what she had done without them before. Actually, she wasn't much of a hostess either, a little on the shy side that's caused her not to talk as much. Pata smiled at Emme.

"ooo, Loreena Mckinn-" she was interupted by a splash, and turned her attention toward the little ones again seeing Kami had spilled on her nice dress. "oh dear, she hates to get dirty, she cries until I give her a bath." sweatdrop

Ray nodded happily, neatly arranging the cookies on a larger plate, then he put two cookies on four separte plates, placing one in front of Bloo, his bear, then Kami, and then one plate for himself.

He was petting Bloo and watching Kami pour the tea when the little teapot lid slipped, and the luke-warm, mild tea spilled out, splashing onto the table, and then on her dress. Seeing Kami's expression quickly go from happy to quite distressed, he jumped to his feet and gave her a hug. In the process, he bumped the table, spilling more of the tea onto himself. He stepped back from Kami, and looked down at his shirt, grinning. He held onto the bottom of the shirt, stretching it out so Kami could see that he'd gotten dirty as well.

Of course, a little bit of dirt, mud, paint, tea, or anything else for that matter, really didn't bother him. He didn't mind getting completely filthy, as long as it was a great deal of fun was had in the process.

Emme glanced over to the children, and reacted calmly, heading to the kitchen to find a towel. "Don't worry hun, there's a bathtub upstairs, and I'm sure I've got something she can wear." She handed Pata a towel, and scooped up Ray in the towel she'd kept. "Silly boy! you got tea all over the shirt Uncle Torrin got for you!"

Bloo, the cat, completely unphased by the whole incident, made himself busy lapping up the spilt tea.

Blinking softly at Ray as he did as she was told, was all smiles till the top of the teapot slipped off and onto her silk dress, which made her cry out from fright, not knowing that it was going to happen and being scared by that at first. Then she looked down at her sopping dress and looked about to cry, she really really hated getting dirty and especially her beautiful dress, it looked hopeless to the Simu.

Then Ray gave her a hug. It calmed her down enough, putting her finger next to her mouth curiously again, red orbs looking at the bottom of his shirt that he held out for her to look at. It was dirty and wet too. This would have gotten a smile out of her but she was slightly embaressed about spilling in front of her friend and Bloo. She'd never done that before.

Pata reacted in the same way, used to doing that for her siblings back when she was taking care of them. Standing slightly, she accepted the towel from Emme and walked over to Kami and Ray. Kneeling, so she was just level with the little pink haired simu, she traced a smile on Kami's face with a finger which immeadiatly got a smile from Kami and one from Pata as well, scooping up Kami as well and put her in her lap while sitting on the floor.

"Hey, it's allright, no big deal, you like baths remember?" Snuggles the Simu and looks up at Emme and Ray. "Really, our house isn't too far from this, Emme, hun. But we must do this again sometime, Kami really likes to play with Ray." Chuckles softly at the thought and stood up from the ground, carring kami in her arms, the simu clinging tightly to her rather cutely.

Kami waved to Ray and managed to give him a smile.

Emme nodded. "It is getting rather late. We'll have to do this again soon. I'll be at the shop more often with Ray, so I'm sure they'll see eachother again soon. I'll bring some crayons and such to the shop. I didn't know Kami liked to draw too." Emme smiled, and sat down Ray suddenly. "Speaking of! I have something Kami might like to color!" She ran into the small office, and shuffling could be heard as Emme searhed for something.

Ray waved up at Kami where she hugged her mother, waiting patiently in Pata's arms. He was actually quite amused with the turn of events, enjoying the minty sent of the tea on his clothes, and looked forward to the bath that was sure to follow.

Emme returned with a large tan envelope. Inside was a sheet of paper supported by a thin sheet of cardboard to keep the contents from bending. "Before I left for my vacation, I had Carcer draw a couple portraits of the Simulacra at the shop. I couldn't afford full color at the time, and never found the time to color it myself... Maybe Kami would like to color it?"

Emme and Ray waved happily as Kami and Pata made their way out the door and down the street to their own home. Street lights flickered on around them, almost on cue. It created a wondeful atmosphere, and Emme did her best to remember every detail to enter in her journal to remember for days to come.

START OF NEW RP

Rp with Kerryn, setting up shortly.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2005 4:14 pm

Emme was looking through the shop files and photos of all the beautiful children that had emerged since the opening of 'Through the Looking Glass' over the past few months. There were almost 20 total... though she'd met so few of the children herself, and Ray perhaps even less. Then she spotted a girl among the other children, one that struck a chord with her for some reason... So she arranged for the young simulacra and her guardian to come for tea. Until she wsa able to attend to the shop more often, or arrange for a party of some sort, this seemed to be the best way to meet the children.

Ray was fairly apathetic about the whole thing... still unhappy with himself and his new ackwardness. He'd spent a good deal of time stretching, jogging and practicing archery, hoping to regain his childhood agility and or at least get back decent sense of balence and a better feel for the limitations of his new height and bulk. Nothing really seemed to help.

he was enjoying his voice, though. As his speach caught up with his written vocabulary, he felt more at ease speaking with others, though he was still halting and short with the things he did say.

Emme had nearly forgotten about the date with Kerryn and Merewen, immersed in a painting when she heard a knock on the door. Ray had been casually picking a few things up, but he didn't mind his mother's clutter and left most of the open shop/studio in it's usual disarray. He set up the low asian style table near the couch, stereo and sitting area of the studio and put on some herbal tea while his mother ran upstairs to wash the paint from her hair.

Knocking lightly on the door again as she heard life within the studio, Bri looked down at Kerryn. The shorter girl was holding a look of pride on her face, having finally seen the first sprouts of the flowers she planted and gotten her leather apron back. Brushing a wisp of her black hair out of her eyes Kerryn grinned at her mother, turning to stare at the blank face of the door. Black pants and heavy leather boots were back in place, although her minty green peasant top was replaced by a jade tank top, leather apron belted snugly around her waist.

The call from Emme had suprised Bri, she didn't realize that she had left her number at the shop when she bought the key that Kerryn came from, but it had proven otherwise. Even more so - the reason for the call. Tea. Accepting the invitation, it was only polite, she had informed Kerryn of the plans. At first she didn't seem receptive, wanting to call back and back out of the 'date', but she finally got over that when Bri threatened to give the plants Kerryn had been planting away if she didn't get some actual human - or Simu - contact soon.

Checking her watch again to make sure they were in fact on time and not early or late, Bri ran her fingers over her black blazer to smooth some of the wrinkles from it. It had just come out of storage when the weather around Durem started to get warmer. Shifting from foot to foot, she put an arm around Kerryn's shoulders, fingers curling lightly about her upper arm. 'Come on..' She urged silently, '... It's cold out here.'

Ray made his way to the door, shaking his head at his mother's poor planning and forgetfulness. It WAS her idea afterall, you'd think she could keep things straight.

"Coming." he said, though it was probably barely audiable through the doors. He grabbed the handle of the double french doors and pulled the right door open wide, revealing their waiting guests. "Sorry for the wait, mother got distracted..." He said, looking the pair over. The older woman looked about his mother's age, and he smiled as he noticed taht she too sported a nose ring. A girl stood beside her, obviously a reflection of her guardian, as most the simulacra are... Her hair was dark, black actually, and she was rather petite, with lovely green eyes.

"Come on in," he said, showing them to the couch in at the far back of the room with teh low sitting table sitting on a thick plush rug. "Make yourself at home, the couch is rather comfy, though I prefer the rug." He went to the kitchenett on the north side of the room and got out the tea glasses. "I made some mint herbal tea, though i have several types of tea if you'd like to pic your own. There's hot water ready." He brought the tea pot of hot water, the cups and a box of assorted teas to the table and sat them down.

Bri smiled as the door opened and a teenage boy was revealed at the other side of it, Kerryn's jaw dropped slightly as she noticed his hair. It almost looked like he was trying to grow plants on his head, although when her chin was touched lightly by her mother, she shut her mouth and scooted into the warmth of the house as they were invited in. Bri followed behind Kerryn as they were shown to the couch, taking a seat on the couch and taking off her blazer as Kerryn perched on the edge of a cushion waiting for the older boy to come back into the room.

"Anythings fine with me," Bri informed the boy politely, "I suppose you're Ray? I'm Bri." She asked, having never met him or emme prior to this trip.

"I like Chamomile." Kerryn quipped, putting her two cents in as he brought over the hot water, cups, and boxes of tea. Looking up to her mother as she wondered if she should serve herself or not, she hadn't been over at anyone else's house before. "Oh.." Kerryn stated quietly as she caught a look from her mother, "I'm Kerryn. Pleased ta meet you." She grinned as she held out a hand to him, standing up since the low table was between them.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 25, 2005 12:28 pm

"Oh, yes... sorry, i wasn't thinking. I'm Ray.. Mom's upstairs, she should be down soon." He took Kerryn's hand as she introduced herself... as their hands touched, he froze up for a moment, feeling rather light headed, a rush of images flicking in his mind's eye. He took a moment to recover. "ah... have we met before?" he asked the younger girl, stammering a bit. He was almost sure he hadn't... though he had soem rather muddled memories from before he grew, so anything was possible. "You seem familar some how..." He shrugged, and went about pouring the tea and placing a chamomile bag in the girl's cup andhanding it to her. "Careful, it's hot."

Emme chose that moment to come rushing down the stairs, her hair a wet mess, though she had put on a fairly nice dress and was actually wearing a pair of shoes. "Sooooo sorry Bri!" She exclaimed, coming into the open space of the studio. "I got caught up painting... But I'm so glad you're here! And Kerryn! Welcome! Don't you and Ray look cute together, both in green."

Ray shook his head again at his mother's rambling and went to the kittchenette again to fetch some biscuits and cookies.

Kerryn blinked, shivering slightly as their hands touched, eyeing him dubiously as he froze. She reacted similarly as she was hit over the head with the feeling that she had done this exact thing before. His recovery came slower than hers, drawing back her hand as he posed his question. "No, I don't believe we have." Although, a slight confusion laced her words, taking the cup of tea from him when it was offered. Sitting back down, tea cup in hand, as she tried to figure out what just happened.

It was Bri's turn to stand up when Emme came down, smiling at her general look of disarray. "Pleasure to finally meet you, Emme. Ray was just getting us all settled with tea. It was really nice of you to invite us over." Looking at the two as Emme made the statement about Ray and Ryn looking cute together she nodded. "Yes, they do." She remarked as Kerryn seemed to frown, watching Ray head back towards the kitchenette.

"So, what were you painting, Emme?" Bri asked lightly, trying to spark a conversation as she poured herself some mint tea. Kerryn lifted her cup to her lips and took a sip of it, nerves relaxing as the familiar taste spread across her tongue.

Ray noticed that Kerryn seemed to have the same strange reaction he had when they'd touched hands. He hope it didn't bother her too badly... He was baffled by his own reaction, and wondered at teh fact that this perfect stranger seemed so familiar.

"Ray and Ryn! How cute!" Emme said, amused with Bri's comment.

Ray shook his head again... He couldnt' remember his mother being quite so annoying when he was younger.

"I'm sorry again for my absentmindedness." She attempted to arrange her hair, and straighten her dress, though it didn't do much good. What a terrible impression I must be giving! She thought as she made her way to the sitting area. "Thank you so much for coming. I was away from the shop for so long, and am so busy these days, it seems that searching through our files and inviting folks over is the only way I'll ever meet everyone!"

Ray brought the snacks to the table, sitting across from Kerryn on the floor, his feet tucked under. A small blue cat had appeared from out of no where, seemingly instinctively aware of the fact that there was food with in reach. While Emme was distracted, Ray slipped the cat a bit of cookie.

"Oh! my painting... It's kind of hard to explain... I've been having dreams about the shop, I think there is a spirit watchign over us there. I've been obsessed with trying to paint her, but I can never seem to capture her correctly." Emme fixed her own tea, and knelt down to sit on the carpet much like Ray. "But enough about me. I want to know about you and Kerryn!"

Quickly growing bored of his mother's rambling, Ray leaned towards Kerryn and whispered, "I dont' know about your mom, but mine's bound to talk forever. If you want, we can go out to the back yard. There's a pond out there with Koi, and I've got lots of drawing supplies upstairs if you like to draw."

"No problem, I've been very busy too, so I was a little suprised when you called, but it was a good excuse to get out of the house."

Kerryn couldn't help the look of distaste as her mother used her nickname in her comment about 'Ray and Ryn.' She didn't even hear the majority of the comment, yet she couldn't believe her mother was going out of her way, however unintentionally, to make her blush. It was working too, a faint splash of pink comming to her cheeks as she picked up a cookie from the plate that was put on the low table. Eyeing Ray across the table as he fed the strange blue cat a piece of the cookie she couldn't help but wonder about their reactions to each other. Why did she get the feeling that she had met him before when she was a hundred percent sure that she never did? When Ray asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else she jumped for the chance. "Yes, please. Lets do that." Kerryn didn't quite care what they did, just as long as she didn't have to deal with Bri and her talk about their lives in the apartment and her job and all those other boring things she talked about on a regular basis.

"Oh?" Bri looked at Kerryn, nodding in silent approval, before looking back to Emme, "Dreams are good things to bring to life. I've had so many before that I wish I could have put to paper.. but I can't draw to save my life. Hmm... Me and Kerryn?"

That was her cue, getting up Kerryn moved around the low table to stand beside the sitting Ray, looking down at him because she was taller than him when she was standing up and he sitting down. She waited patietnly for him to get himself upright and lead her away, hoping she didn't have to listen to too much of her mothers prattle.

"Well, Kerryn and I live in the Sunrise Apartment complex on Durem's south end." She thought about it for a moment, "I'm currently trying to find someone to teach Kerryn gardening because she seems to have gained an interest in potting plants and flowers, and I don't have a clue about gardening. I wonder where she gets it from." Bri commented with a shrug.

Bri grinned, "You must have some top secret methods of deriving our contact information, because I could have sworn I didn't give it out. But, then again, if you knew that children come from the antiques you were selling.. I guess it makes sense to have taken it from all the potential buyers. I just must have been tired the day I bought the key." Thinking about Emme's words she nodded, "I think she'd like that, although I'd have to talk to her about it.. She despises it when I make plans for her, although this is something she may not feel too bad about."

Shifting on the couch she put her tea down on the low rising table, moving to sit on the floor. "That's better, now we're not at such a height difference." As if that mattered, but it'd probably have bothered Emme's neck to look up at Bri for long periods of time. "So, how did you happen across Ray's antique?" The way that the owners were attracted to their antiques interested her, knowing that there was no way she could have left the shop without purchasing the key that Kerryn showed up from.

---

Kerryn followed Ray outside with a slight shiver at the change in temperature - she didn't even have her tea to keep her warm. Taking in the sights of the back yard, her eyes rested for a moment on the bare patch where the garden would have been, before sweeping over to the plants that lined the walls of the yard. Stopping in her tracks as she took it all in.

When Ray continued towards the Koi pond, she forced her feet to move and follow him over, settling down next to him as he dug into his pockets for the Koi food. When he offered out some of the food in his palm to her so she could feed the Koi she grinned, reaching out like she had in the park to take the bread crumbs from the old woman. On it's path to take some of the Koi food though, she faltered, what if she got that strange feeling like she had when they shook hands? Looking up at him for a moment she tried to think of a good way to take the food without having to touch him.

"Yes, I like being outside. Although, as Bri said.. we live in an apartment so we don't really have a backyard. But, I'm growing plants and flowers in pots on my balcony... so that might be close enough?"
