Hikari chuckled at the child's actions and watched as Diae and Chao left to the room in order to find Aido. She stood and followed Tale and friend out.
Diae sat in a complete docile state. He watched his new aunt carefully as he was carried.
"Aiai's in the closet?" Diae asked with a slight squeak to his voice. And suddenly it clicked for the boy. All he had to do was ask for Aido. Or so he thought.
"Aiai! come out of the closet pweas!"

Chao snorted, and had to stifle at laugh at that particular comment.
"Olly, olly ozen free!" she called after she'd properly swallowed her giggles, "come out Aido!"
"Mmmph!" came the muffled response, which was quickly followed by a sharp thump of something hitting the closed door in response to Diae and Chao's calls.
The thump had been a coat which Aido had kicked away in annoyance, as the Tale was currently attempted to tunnel through the coats to freedom.
"Sounds like she's in there," Chao murmured, quietly amused, and moved closer, lowering Diae to the level of the doorknob, "and stuck for that matter. Let's let her out Diae," she said, indictating the doorknob with her head.

Small hands reached towards the handle and dramatically threw the door open.
"Aiai!" The boy shouted happily, "I foun-...you?" Diae's face fell at the movement under the coats.
"Nonono!" Diae sobbed and clutched onto Chao shoulder. "Tha's not Aiai. H'es a monster." He said and quivered.
Hikari gave Diae a reassuring pat to the head and bent down to remove the coat from the girl.
"Look Diae, it's not a monster. Just Aido. You win, hun." She said with a smile of apology to the coat bombarded girl.

Aido took a deep breath of fresh air and sighed in relief as the coat was removed. The remainder of the small mountain of coats (along with a few pairs of boots and old shoes...) spilled into the hallway when the door was openeded.
She smiled a reassuring smile at Diae, "you found me Diae," her eyes slid to her mother, "Aemu... why do we have so many coats?"
"Because we're a family of five," Chao responded solemnly, leaving the 'and we might need the old coats so I shall never throw them out!' unspoken.

"You're still a pack rat, Chao?" Hikari sniggered before offering a hand to Aido.
Diae let out a giggle and threw his arms out towards Aido indicating that he wanted Aido to hold him now.
"Aiai! I missed you!" He said sniffing in the remainder of his teary outburst, "Were you scareded?"
Diae squirmed in attempts to be released so that he could cling to Aido. His ragdoll fell onto the girls lap from his struggle and landed with an oddly resonating thud. A noise however, that Diae chose to ignore.

"A pack rat? Me? Oh, surely you must be mistaken," Chao replied, the picture of wronged innocence.
Aido's gaze flicked curiously to the rag doll, quietly noting the odd thud, and she gently picked it up and cradled it in one hand. At Hikari's comment she chuckled and took Hikari's hand with her own free hand, smiling to her Aunt and nodding, "thanks Aunt 'Kari."
Once the Tale was on her own two feet she reached out, first to hand Eain to Diae then to take the younger Tale into her arms, "I missed you two Diae," she paused at the question then smiled, "I was scared, but only a little, since I knew you guys would rescue me."

"You're welcome Aido." Hikari said giving the girl a smile.
"Did I rescue Aiai?" Diae asked pulling Eain close to him before clinging to the older tale. "Like a princess?"
Hikari blinked at Chao's innocent look and gave her a friendly glare.
"Biggest pack rat here." She said patting Chao's shoulder. "Finest in the district if you ask me."
She spared Aido a glance and smiled as a pleasant thought entered her mind.
"Aido? How would you like to gain a little pocket money?" She posed the question and waited the answer.

Kibeth started laughing uproariously at the younger Tale's comment.
Aido studiously ignored her and smiled at Diae, "mhm, you did."
'Petticoats, CORSETS,' Kibeth continued to laugh. Aido quietly hoped that, if it was at all possible, she'd lose her 'voice' from it all.
Chao chuckled, "finest in the district, eh? Well, when you put it that way, I'd have to agree with you."
Aido blinked and tilted her head, "money?" Considering how rarely the Tale ever needed anything outside the necessities money had rarely been an issue. But now she was curious as to what her Aunt was suggesting. "Er, how?"

Diae's face was plastered with a large grin knowing that he accomplished something very special.
"Yay! Aiai's princess now right?" Diae asked the girl with a hopeful glint in his eyes. "And the Eain can be the prince!" Diae exclaimed happily.
Hikari chuckled a bit at Diae's loud exclaimations. She brought her attentino to Aido.
"We'll I see alot of work in the near future for me." Hikari started ticking down her to do list in her head before returning to her conversation with the Tale. "And I'll need someone to watch over Diae and Sie."

Aido vaguely wondered what she was getting into, but mentally shrugged and nodded at Diae.
'Heels. Pointy. Hats.' Kibeth whispered.
'Sound like decent weapons,' Aido murmuered to the Other woman.
She giggled quietly, retuning to the conversation, "Prince Eain, hm? Then are you one of our royal knights, Diae?" she asked then looked to Hikari and her brow furrowed in thought, "hrm... sure as long as I'm around, I'll watch over them," she replied after a moment.

"Iunno...Can a knight be scareded?" Diae asked as a wave of worry washed over him. What if he wasn't brave enough? Or what if princess Aiai got hurt? Then he would be a bad knight.
Hikari offered Aido a smile of consent and glanced at Chao for approval. "Only if Chao agrees with it then."

Aido's expression grew serious and she nodded to Diae, "knights are often scared, even if they won't admit it." She grinned ruefully, "what makes them knights is they do what they think is right regardless of their fear," her grin melted into a confident, warm smile and she nuzzeled his hair, "don't worry, you'll be a great knight."
Chao grinned, happy for the chance to force more human contact on her daughter, "o'course she can," she replied with a proud nod.

"I pro'cec' Aiai for Aunie Chao!" Diae chirped and nestled his head into the nuzzling movement. "I pro'cec' even if 'm scarded." His grip tightened around his aunt.
Hikari gave a heartfelt smile and patted Diae's back before taking him from Chao's arms. "This was quite the visit. And maybe we've intruded a bit too long? I'll call you later, Chao. But Diae needs his nap now and we've yet to finish painting his room."
"H'es gonna be blue!" He said gripping Eain and turning to face Aido. "Like Pengen ice."
The teen could only chuckle as Diae single handily butchered the English language. Reading and writing were coming along well, yet pronunciation was something they needed to work on.

Chao waved warmly, "mmmhmm, I look forward to it. Talk to you later. And good luck with the painting!" idly she surreptitiously slid back, so that Aido was almost in front of her.
Aido smiled and waved as well, "sounds like it'll be magnificent. I'd like to see it sometime." She glanced at her mother and quirked an eyebrow curiously.
Chao ignored her meat-shield- er, daughter, rather- and, looking to Diae, she winked and said cheerfully, "get some that paint in your Mum's hair for me. Blue's a good color on her."
Aido rolled her eyes and looked back to Diea, "and don't listen to my Aemu, Diae. Putting paint in peoples' hair only leads to longer baths and earlier bedtimes."

Hikari quirked an eyebrow at Chao. Blue? And then the suggestion of paint in her hair. She lifted her hand to her eyes pointing at both and then flicking the same position towards Chao in the sign 'I'm watching you, wench'.
"When we're all finished, Aiai can come over and we can play no scary game!" Diae said happily and giggled at Chao's suggestion. "Mumma looks funny with blue hair. And Auni' Chao pretty wif blue too."
Diae regarded Aido's comment with an air of disappointment followed by immediate understanding. "I no wan' early bedtimes. Aiai's smarter that aunie Chao. Aunie Chao get early bedtimes now too?"
Hikari sigh and ruffled Diae's hair. "Yes, auntie Chao gets early bedtimes now too." Hikari stepped off of the front step and looked back at the other Tale and Author before smiling.
"Good bye, see you soon."
"Byebye Aiai n' aunie Chao!" Diae shouted over Hikari's shoulder and waving Eain in his hand.
