I think it mostly has to do with gender roles in western culture. Men are expected to be only concerned with the physical and practical.

I agree with UraniumMonk (cool name btw), but i also believe that it has something with the whole "moon connected to women" that someone else had mentioned (srry can't remember the name) and the whole "a guy with more feminine(sp?) influences than masculine" wold be a good explanation for my case as the only other person in my family who even remotely thinks that they have some kind of link to the paranormal is my aunt on my fathers side (but everyone thinks that shes just acting out seeing as everything that she "predicts" is totally off) and i have 2 sister who i was really close to and i'm closer to my mom then my dad, so ya...just thought that i would agree with a bunch of people who i thought had strong arguments for it lol

I think that they are equal, but woman feel it's more acceptable to talk about then men because of the whole ,men are supposed to be tough' thing.

I think it might also have something to do with women being more aware of our surroundings.Women tend to pay attention a lot more to the pros and cons of what is going on around them.By being more finely tuned with their emotions( which also I believe is connected to the moon) it makes them more naturally perceptive to the paranormal. Perhaps it is also because we are a tad bit open minded ( no offense guys) and we don't rule out the supernatural right away. Most times if a guy says he's seeing spirits, he is often ridiculed and maybe he shuts that paranormal insight off.It may not be that they are not supernatural perceptive but are just unaware of it. Women tend to believe in this sort of thing more ans usually if you believe in something, it makes it easier to see.

My dad is highly sensitive to abnormal things where as my mother isn't, I also have a psychic bond with my dad, we would 'send' each other shopping lists over great distances. (Using unnatural powers for the need of a bottle of milk!)
For me, its always 50/50 but blokes always seen more grounded and less emotional, I mean, I doubt that's true across the board but it is from my experience. I think they see things as often as woman but are more likely to just shrug it off.

It's not a fact. Some of the most sensitive people I know are males. The reason why you find more female 'psychics' is cultural, and has nothing to do with which gender displays these abilities more often.
In polls that cross community boundaries, I've found number of males and females didn't show any consistant difference from the general population.

I think that to some extent that is true- women do seem to be more perceptive than men on a whole, but honestly its just a greater percentage. I know women who are very gifted- my own grandmother can tell fortunes using a crystal pendulum, but some of my friends (fellow bearers of the y chromosome) who have experienced hauntings and spiritual involvement in that way, so it really varies.

personally i think its abut even with what men and women can see and sense but women are more comfortable admitting that they have the sight. men are not.

You can't have anything in this world that didn't come from nature in a different form. Magic and magical powers, such as telepathy, is as natural as the sun in the sky. It's just that some people don't usually tap into that aspect because it's not quantifiable by the mundane five senses.

Angel No More I think it's because women are sometimes a little more intuitive, then guys sometimes. Well, we all have intuition. What happens is that, in Western society, unless the guy is an artist, women are more intune with their gut, their intuition. Most masculine types (women included) don't go on their intuition, usually because of how they were raised (often the case). They don't know how to take their intuition, unless it immediately serves them in a situation, then they forget about it. Artists in general are more in-tune with their intuition, I think by sheer virtue of being an artist. You learn to see things differently, you're more open-minded, and you have a more discerning eye. Your intuition is your higher self letting you in on a great secret that most others don't know about and would have almost nothing to do with. It cues you in to the deeper things occurring around you so that you can react accordingly.

I think it depends. My uncle is very sensitive to the other side.
My Nana and I are both sensitives among other things.
I think it all comes from what gifts we inherit rather than what gender we are.

Honestly, my husband is much more sensitive than I am. He's a pagan, raised Catholic. I was raised 'pseudo-christian', my parents never cared one way or the other. We can both sense spirits, or something "wrong" in the room, but he can pinpoint direction and usually location. It's possible to have a male that's stronger than a female, they're just very rare.
I think the reason females are more in tune has something to do with the whole social outlook that females are supposed to express themselves and have FEELINGS, while guys are supposed to be very closed off. Amusing that the guys who admit to being psychic (Guarantee there's tons that won't admit it) are the ones who will also admit to having feelings.
On the flip side, my husband has a friend who's a genuine medium. She talks to ghosts on a regular basis. Me, I just know which rooms of a house to avoid (as in, someone doesn't want me there).
Women's intuition is an accepted thing. Men having intuition is not. That's why we see women as more in-tune, they're the only ones comfortable in saying so.

i think it might be because women mature faster than men, and (no offense) but women tend to be more observant. We don't look over things as much.
