Remi nodded her approval at the answer, though the second half was probably just as bad. Fortunately Gavin's friendship with Osha had led the little boy to realize that crayons were not, in fact, food. Having an artistic friend definitely had its pluses.
"Hairspray?" Gavin asked, blinking in curiousity. He'd seen Mommy use it sometimes. It smelled funny. "Ewww..."
So much for that.

"See, I'm an awesome role model," Ama said to Remi in satisfaction. "You should marry me in Vegas. - Yeah, you stay away from the hairspray, kiddo. Grow up big and strong like your Uncle Ama. All the ladies'll love ya."

"I don't think so," Remi said emphatically, almost enjoying this. Now that a kid was present Ama seemed to be toning it down somewhat, even though she still hoped Gavin wouldn't remember half of what the guy said.
Gavin raised his arms in the air in an affirmative gesture. "I grow big and stwong! Haki say so!"
Not that Uncle Ama knew who Haki was, but Gavin didn't know that.

"Sure you will," said Ama cheerfully. "Take it from me. Eat your vegetables, don't go near hairspray, and kiss every girl you see. That way, you'll grow up to be my size, and you might be he - heck of charming, just like your Uncle Ama. Try hard enough and your hair'll turn red. Right, Remicakes?"

"Okay!" Gavin chirped, though he wasn't exactly sure what he'd just say 'okay' too. Something about being big and hair turning red. Of course, his hair was already kind of red. He wanted blue hair so he could be like Hawk Man, because Hawk Man was awesome. Probably even more awesome than Uncle Ama.
"Uhhh...yeah," Remi blinked, responding out of reflex. "Except for the kissing part. But whatever gets him to eat vegetables works for me."

"Actually, I never ate veggies as a kid," Admon confided to Remi. "I reached six foot one by the time I was twelve just on the strength of Red Hots gum and porno magazines."
He turned back to Gavin. "Especially broccoli, kiddo. And brussel sprouts. And carrots. And I mentioned kissing, right?"

Remi's eyes widened in surprise.
"Six foot one?" she asked incredulously. The tallest kid in her middle school class was barely over five and a half feet. Six foot one?! That was insane. Then again, the guy towered over everything so she guessed it could be possible.
Gavin nodded, even though he'd already put all vegetables on his I-don't-eat list. Maybe he'd have to try some more if he wanted to be tall like Uncle Ama, which he did. Still, the last part confused him.
"What's kissing?"
Ah, the innocence of youth.

Ah, the terrible questions of youth. Nothing loath at all, Admon slung one arm over Remi's shoulders, leant over and gave her one smack dab on the mouth - managing to draw it out for a few seconds before she could detach him. He pulled away and gave the little winged toddler a big thumbs-up, smirking all over his face, overly happy to have given Gavin some education.
"That's kissing, kiddo," he said. "You need to practice. Otherwise you're gonna be a shrimp all your life."

Remi's eyes widened in shock when Ama kissed her without warning. Her face returned to its bright shade of red as she blushed furiously with embarrassment. In front of her own son! When he pulled away she sat there stunned for a moment.
Gavin stared wide-eyed. "Woah..."
He didn't really understand why it was all that big of a deal, but it apparently had sent his mother into some kind of freaked out state. Did that always happen when you kissed someone?
Remi finally regained some form of composure, responding to Ama the only way she knew how. She made a move to slap him hard across the face.
"Don't ever do that again," she said, extremely flustered. She didn't sound angry as much as she sounded absolutely humiliated.

"I could stick my tongue in your ear," Ama said, and made terribly overexaggerated kissy-noises that made him sound like an infected squid or a blocked-up sink. He rubbed the side of his face, not looking altogether too surprised or alarmed at the slap; half of his face was flushing slightly red from the hit. "Don't worry about when they hit you, kiddo, it just means you gotta get them dinner and a movie to make up for it."

"Please don't," Remi said, trying to push him away, irritated. Innuendo she could handle. Actions upon that innuendo she could definitely not.
Gavin nodded in understanding, but decided against trying kissing anyone for right now. He didn't like getting hurt. Things turned red when they got hurt real bad, and seeing the red on Uncle Ama's face he figured it hurt pretty bad when they slapped you. However...
"Movie?" he asked excitedly, making Remi slap a hand against her forehead in an exasperated manner. "Food too?"

Rather surprisingly (well, not surprisingly) Admon leered at Remi: and then he said, sotto voce, "I can sit through Johnston's copy of the Care Bears Movie if you can."

Gavin was intrigued. Remi was mortified.
"Don't take this the wrong way," Remi started slowly. "But not me. Not with you."
The thought of having Ama in close contact during a movie was horrifying considering his behavior outside. If Gavin really wanted Care Bears, she'd ask Carver to borrow it at another time.

"Not even if I promise to sit on the other side of the couch?" Admon Collier was not meant to pull Puppy Eyes, but somehow God let him for five minutes before he looked slightly crosseyed and had to stop. "I'll show you where Carver hides the Almond Joys. Like hell he can hide his chocolate from me, he thinks a jar marked 'Flour' is a real good business plan. Betcha Gavin'd love Care Bears. Wouldn't you, kiddo. Man, denyin' a smurf his coloured bears, you're a cold woman."

Though Admon might not have been made for Puppy Eyes, Gavin certainly was. Or at least he'd knew how from Haki (he liked learning from the best). Having 'Almond Joys' and 'movie' in the same sentence were more than enough to unleash his best pout and Puppy Eyes, the most adorable expression that you just couldn't say 'no' to.
Remi stared. How did he do that?!
For a moment she looked back and forth between Ama and Gavin, still flustered and at a complete loss as to what to do. She didn't want to tell Gavin no, but at the same time she didn't want to spend copious amounts of time with Ama.
"Pleeeeease?" Gavin begged with the Eyes, making them as wide as possible. Well that was it, Remi just couldn't say no to that. She sighed in defeat.
"The things I do for children," she muttered to herself.
